SAP Training
Has anyone heard of this course called SAP?
Its a crash course being offered here and being conducted by foreigners. SAP is a super hi tech program used by big corporations and is soon to be used here in the Phil. Businesses such as the Ayala, Lopez and SGV are now upgrading to an SAP ystem. Can anyone shed light on this course. |

SAP is a very expensive course, offered by the SAP company to the employees of companies that buy SAP Products. Basically, the people who undergo the SAP program return to their companies after the training course and work on making systems that make their respective divisions run more efficiently. Often, all of the SAP trainees work together under an SAP department and fuse together all of their projects to create synergies between all of their departments.
Employees who are sent to train under SAP are often given a two year contract by their mother companies, as the SAP training costs around 300,000 pesos or more. But from what I hear, people who have undergone SAP training find that their stock has increased because SAP consultants are heavily sought after by both foreign and local companies. |

Yeah, It sure is an expensive training course. SAP is a German based software company that offers packaged system applications for every aspect of business. SAP is divided into many modules depending on what your company needs. A few examples are Human Resources, Plant Maintenance, Asset Management etc. It also has it's SAP-Retail, SAP IS-OIL (for the oil industry) and many others. Among the local companies already using the SAP system are Shell, Caltex, Procter and Gamble, San Miguel, Petron Corporation and Smart (I think they're in the design stage already).
To learn more about SAP is a continuing process, coz like I said, it is comprised of many different modules, and that does not include the programming language for SAP w/c is called ABAP programming. If you can master this language, then you're worth about $7000 - $10000 dollar abroad. |

It's meaning in German, “Systemanalyse and Programmentwicklung.” Since then, that company has become SAP (Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing).
Jay-zzz: I tell you, it's very expensive, and it's courses has prerequisites. SAP Philippines is the only one authorized to conduct the training. |

I think its worth it considering the fact that local companies are willing to pay 50 to 100,000 a month for your skills.
![]() Does anyone here know someone who has taken this course already? I'd like to ask about the salary and other stuff. |

I know that some of the employees from my previous company have already taken SAP and are currently working on their respective modules to upgrade the company's systems. I am not in touch with them anymore so I have no idea what they are going through.
That company by the way is Ramcar. |

It's a very big decision early on in your career so make sure that you know what SAP is before getting into it. With the amount of money you would have to put into it to be a part of the course, you better make sure that it's what you want to do in the next five years or so.

we had a talk in class once by an SAP consultant and yes it is a lot of money! At the time he was giving the talk, he was working with the inventory of Penshoppe, i think. He said that SAP Philippines has about 20 people ... i'm not so sure but it's really a low hierarchy company and they earn a lot! He mentioned that La Salle is offering the program ...

whoah! tone down with your expectations on SAP. I'm not an IT guy but I'm working with a company that uses SAP. Basically, progressive companies have linked the entire length and breadth of their supply chain + the accounting side thru one system. This thing even facilitates comprehensive reporting of anything happening in the company in real time. translates to -->; you can check out profitability of departments, projects, customers or inventory levels (real time), etc. etc. There are other similar systems running in other companies like BPCS which is used by Nestle and Unilever.
Now on the salary part, usually these companies hire companies like Pricewaterhouse or other consultancy firms to help run this. These "consultants" try to bridge the gap from the complex IT side to what management will need. These "consultants" don't make P50,000. SAP is pretty expensive so companies that use this are often very big and hire comparatively large companies to manage their systems. I haven't heard of small coporations that hire lone consultants to setup and maintain their SAP. Well not locally at least. |

Not to be negative here but I've heard that companies who have gotten SAP are not satisfied with what they offer, espcially since SAP is very expensive.
A couple of reasons for their dissatisfaction: SAP software still has bugs and some SAP consultants are not very good. I have some concrete examples if anyone wants to know... My advice to those who want to take SAP -- don't limit yourself to this. Try to expand your knowledge in I.T. Technology is very fast-paced and you have to keep up with what is most useful for your clients. Be up-to-date. Have a thirst for learning on your own. |
