my child is currently studying here in notre dame and we are happy that my child is enjoying his stay in this school. Academic wise, Notre has a very good curriculum. Mas advance nga sila compared to other catholic schools. and their fund raising activities are very minimal. and mind you, NDGM is not forcing their students to give...all are voluntary kaya hindi nakaka-stress. walang minus kapag hindi ka nag-bigay hehehe.... my child likes this school and so with me.

It honed me to become successful as early as elementary. The rest ng batch, almost tga UST. hehe

and ganun naman po talaga ang typical passsing rates ng most good secondary schools.

so ok pa din naman. and nung linabas ng DECS yung top performers sa NSAT, Notre was in 30th place, so not bad considering there are hundreds of secondary schools in the country at ganun kadami ang estudyante nya compared to other schools na 2-4 sections lang kaya malamang mas mataas ang place.
Last time I cheked , Less than 50 goes to the top 4 schools

80% of its graduates goes to call centers, and nasa bottom level pa din even with 5-10 years of service.

Alumni din ako ng Notre and I'm probably the oldest person in this thread. (Back in our day, it was NDM, not NDGM so pls bear with me if I use this acronym.)

Years back, I met a batchmate who still lives in Kalookan and he told me that compared to our time, NDM was has gone to the dogs. No, he wouldn't send his children there either. It was from him that I learned that NDM had gone coed. I couldn't believe it. And my first question was, "Bakit, wala na ba ang OLGA?" "Yung La Consolacion?"

The way they see it, naging commercialized na rin ang NDM. Pera-pera na lang daw ang labanan. I didn't know what to say to that.

To the young Damers here, I won't say the NDGM you went through is bad. Nandyan na yan eh. Its just different from the NDM that we knew. I guess we lived and studied in a simpler time. So by way of illustration (and not to say that it was better) here's a snapshot of the NDM we knew.

-The directors were Irish-American OMI priests- until late high school when a Mexican OMI priest took over. The Americans were quite liberal but the Mexican was a disciplinarian (ugaling Kastila). The Americans can breeze through a Mass in less than an hour because their sermons were short and straight to the point.

-All our books except for Social Studies and Pilipino were imported, hardbound American books. Di pa uso newsprint noon. Ang bigat na ng bags namin noon.

-There was only the Elementary & HS buildings, the canteen & Gym back then. NDM seemed so big and spacious back then. The areas surrounding NDM were mostly residential, quiet and definitely not as dense and crowded like today.

-Noong grade school, we were reading about things and people American like Johnny Appleseed, Paul Revere, Abe Lincoln, George Washington, Fr. Junipero Serra, the Pony Express, the Sioux, Iroquois, etc.

-Speaking English on campus was expected and "encouraged". If a teacher asked a question in English, whether inside the classroom or not, whether there are classes or not, better do your darn best to show that you're not wasting your parents' money by answering back in clear, grammatically-correct English.

    Those were the days.
