with the latest season of survivor coming to a close, we now have quite a handful of players thats able to claim the title "sole survivor." each with their own different personality and strategy. so which of them impressed you the most?

1. BRIAN HEIDIK - He started the idea of bringing the least liked castaway to the final 2 in order to win the million
2. JENNA MORASCA - nobody expected a gorgeous girl to come from behind with succeeding immunities and grab the million
3. RICHARD - he irritated a lot of jury members, but somehow he still won
4. AMBER - I gotta give it to her. Despite dangerously sticking it out with Rob M., she still managed to win - to think that she was not supposed to be in the original cast of all-stars! (although she's in my personal list of all-stars)
5. SANDRA - she succeeded where Rob C failed
6. ETHAN - he proved that being nice and honest can win you the million
7. TINA

The last three on my list are just lucky.

2. brian - tie with richard. interesting strategy in the final two.
2. richard - tie with brian. hated by most. but still won.
4. sandra - i like that fact that no one voted her off during tribal councils
5. chris - tie with jenna.

7. tina - i just don't think she deserves it compared to colby
8. vecepia - didn't stick to my mind
9. amber - i'm sorry, i just hate her

1. brian- game mastermind but he was liked by his tribemates...
2. rich -alliance mastermind... he ranked lower than brian bcos the risks of him being voted out were more...
3. vecepia- great player... she turned the game around, not neleh or pappy... still pursued to vote neleh when she couldve easily voted off kathy to prevent any tie bcos she knew she had to break the neleh-pappy alliance...
4. tina- great player, ranked lower bcos she depended too much on colby
5. chris- he did what he needed to do to survive... and did it wonderfully, he was like brian but only halfway to the end...
6. amber- nuff said
7. sandra- she took too many risks... but probably the most likeable winner ever...
8. ethan - he won bcos he was nice... and nothing more... he ranked lower bcos he hesitated to lose a challenge to be able to vote silas off, and voted kelly just bcos lex said so (actually he just did what lex wanted the boran alliance to do)... favored to vote brandon than frank off...
9. jenna- mostly luck... played a horrible first part of the game...

^ Have you seen that episode where Chris approached Ami, Eliza, and LeAnn telling that it was Twila's and Scout's idea to vote off Eliza instead of Chad. And that Scout wanted to keep the 2 remaining men in the game?

Kng hindi sinabi ni Chris yun, sya na *** matatanggal. In my opinion he was the one who started the revolt and let Twila and Scout do the dirrrty work for him.

my take on the survivor winners...

1.) Brian Heidik... The mastermind of it-all... I think he's the best mainly because he played a pretty neat game at all...

2.) Sandra Diaz-Twine - Well... I've got to hand it to sassy Sandra. Outspoken, vocal, brutally frank, yet no Votes received in any tribal council. Perfected her craft by agreeing to vote off any person as long as its not her.

3.) Jenna Morasca - Well.. the pretty one.... She has been basically the target of rob c's nefarious plans yet she delivered just when it is needed.

4.) Richard Hatch - The brilliant strategist and is the one who has been looked above by all players of survivor...

5.) Ethan Zohn - proves that even nice, cute and hot guys could win in a game which is kinda deceit-filled

6.) Tina Wesson - well i've got to hand it to her... played colby and manipulated him to her advantage...

7.) Chris Daugherty - well i think he got lucky... if Eliza has won the challenges... she would definitely beat him... but ive got to give him credit for being able to outlast the female alliance.

8.) Vecepia T. - she would have ranked higher but i placed it there for being just a shadow in Marquesas.

9.) Amber Brkich - well... perfected the riding the coat-tails of your alliance scheme.

1. richard hatch- i think that ranking any other sole survivor over hatch is like saying: well, aretha franklin is alright....but i think beyonce is way better! parang "hello!" you really gotta give props to the one who started it all before you even begin to appreciate everyone else that followed. do you think that the survivor show that weve all come to know will be what it is right now if hatch hadnt set the tone for all this backstabbing and corruption? imagine how survivors now would be playing the game had tina, or ethan or jenna won the first ever season.....a different precedence wouldve been set, and all the intrigues and chaos that makes the show so compelling might not have been present.

2. brian heidik- one castaway aptly described heidik as the "kaiser soze" of survivor (watch the usual suspects and youll get what im talking about). he cut all of his tribemates head off and they didnt even know what hit them till it was all over. ironically enough, thailand is the worst season for me to date. exactly because of that reason, nobody post-merge even had the half-wit to go figure out what brian was up to and it frustrated the hell outta me!

3. ethan zohn- now ethan is the complete anti-hatch. the man played a clean game with a reputation as sqeaky clean as jeff probsts teeth. he was a truly great physical competitor. and a quick thinker as well. i remember on episode 5, he was part of the group that rallied to throw the challenge so that they could vote silas out of the game. and with that, he assured the downfall of the dominating alliance of the mallrats, and he got rid of his number one opponent physically. he was also charming enough to have kim j. pick him over lex.

4. tina wesson- i think tina is sorta a flipflopper. she bailed out on alliances with mad dog, then moved on to an alliance with mitchell (only to bail out on that one too), but the ultimate act that single handedly gave tina the million bucks was flopping her way into an alliance with colby. i dont know what the woman did to have colby so whipped as to literally have him hand her the million bucks in a silver platter (come on! the dude woudlve won if he took keith instead!), but whatever it was, it something worth giving props to.

5. amber brkich- now let me get this straight, i dont like the girl one bit. there is something i appreciate about an out and proud b!tch like jerri manthey, but a b!tch that hides in ladies clothing i cant take. but i need to give her (and rob) credit for playing a solid game that was very focused and unwavering.

6. chris daugherty- i can summarize chris' gameplay with this anecdote i once heard: this one person was walking down the road when he stepped on a banana peel and he skidded and somersaulted and flew 10 feet in the air, tas pagbagsak nya, he stands up with his head help up high and goes goes "KAYA NYO YON!". i just cant bring myself to give chris much props to any of the somersaulting and skidding that happened, kasi parang it was almost as if he stumbled his way into the final 4.

7-8. jenna morasca and sandra twine- i kinda like sandra, and i really like jenna. but much as i dig their personalities, i just have very little respect for people who weasel their way into the finals flying low under the radar.


9. vecepia freakin towery - with the exception of peter and patricia (the first 2 castaways voted out of the game), i wouldve preferred any of the remaining castaways to have made it to the final 2 instead of these two women. which was also why marquesas remains my favorite season to date. there was just so many interesting players throughout the season that the possibilites were endless, but then we end up with the 2 most disagreeable of them all. neleh was simply a poor-mans elisabeth filarski. and vecepia flat-out has done absolutely nothing to merit her a master strategist. whats worse, wala na ngang strategy, wala pang personality

The criteria I used for this ranking are:

- strategy
meron ba shang strategy when he/she played the game? how well was it executed?

- competitiveness
did he/she performed well in challenges? if he/she did, then mas threat sha to others... and despite that, sha ang nanalo kaya magaling sha

- likeability
self explanatory (hehe... tamad ako mag-explain nito)

- luck factor
the luckier the person, the lower his/her luck factor points (shempre mas magaling ang nanalo na hindi mashadong swerte in general)

1. rich- no one beats the master of strategy
2. jenna- who ever thought she would survive? kudos to this girl!
3. sandra- resourceful, cunning, loud... hahaha!
4. amber- played rob like a puppet on a string
5. brian- hot, and smart
6. ethan- mr. goody-goody, still he won.
7. vecepia- stayed low on the radar...
8. tina- lucky grandmommy
9. chris- commendable efforts, but could've used a more creative scheme

1. Rich Hatch - gave alliance an all new meaning. master strategist. and an interesting personality to boot. got lucky din that the night the pagong people had the brains to vote off rich, he won immunity. (after greg was booted)

2. Brian Heidik - manipulator and deceiver. he fooled three people all at once. lucky din sya na engot lahat ng kasama nya. really cocky with his confessionals.

3. Sandra Diaz-Twine - i like her personality the best among the survivors. not much of a strategist but weaseled her way in. which is OK with me.

4. Tina Wesson - played behind the background. strategist din kaya lang di obvious. great choice for a partner with colby.

5. Amber Brkich - played Rob. I think she would have taken Jenna L in final 2 if she won final IC. did some lying here and there. i applaud her and Rob.

6. Chris Daugherty - a player bit was not good enough to realize early on that the key is eliza, he needed twila to make her realize that. very good at lying.

7. Vecepia Towery - boring. but at least she did something really interesting in the end. negotiating with Neleh at the final TC.

8. Jenna Morasca - lucky lucky girl. but at least she stripped.

9. Ethan Zohn - boring. not much of a strategy.

1. richard - he started the alliances that became one of the most important strategies in survivor!
2. brian - second to richard, he is one of the smartest player in survivor
3. sandra - one of the only survivor who did not cheat or manipulate her way to the final two
4. jenna - you go girl!
5. chris - male counterpart of jenna... im impressed that after he made an alliance with chris, he was safe from the chopping block
6. ethan - i just like him... just like sandra, he did not cheat. he maybe one of the honest player in survivor...
7. amber - she only became the winner because of rob... rob deserves it more than her
8. tina - survived only because of her alliance
9. vecepia - did not stand out from the crowd

gusto ko lang idefend si vecepia... i really believe that she was the most deserving of anybody in marquesas, all of them committed a huge blunders that made them lose... i agree though na wala cyang personality (at least na nailabas sa tv) pero she played a great game... marquesas is not my fave season but the good thing about this season is that everyone got what they deserved... ill start with gabe:

______ was voted off bcos:
1. gabe- said he didnt want to play the game
2. gina- mainly bcos of the tribal lines
3. rob- he's too noisy and disloyal
4. john, zoe, tammy- the arrogance they showed bcos of their alliance
5. robert- also a part of rotu 4 but he did one more blunder: he did not take the oppurtunity when kathy wanted to align with him to take out one of the pairs (vee-sean, neleh-paschal)
6. sean- a lot like rob
7. paschal- sacrificed his entire game by not wanting to vote off neleh... he wanted to pull a rock from a bag instead that lead to his downfall... i so rooted for this guy, but he was just darn stupid...
8. kathy- another person i rooted for, but picking to vote off sean than neleh? what the hell was she thinking? she knew pappy and neleh were tight...

and so we have vecepia, these are what i thought were very smart strategical moves:
1. aligning with sarah and rob even though she didnt like sarah just to be in the major alliance...
2. not creating drama therefore people disregard her when tribal council comes...
3. and bcos she didnt create drama and made friends, she had a place in the final five even though she was not originally from rotu...
4. when the underdogs alliance approached her, she agreed to be with them, knowing that when she aligns herself with these people, she'll have better chances than a 5th place finish with the rotu 4... she was the key player her imho of course with neleh and paschal flipping...
5. she knew she had to stay with sean... but not as close as the neleh-pappy bond...
6. forced a tie by voting for neleh even though kathy was an easier target...
7. didnt change her vote bcos whatever happens, she has immunity...
8. she knew very well that the neleh-pappy bond should be extinguished...
9. wrote down notes about other castaways' lives which came as productive in the f4 challenge...

i didnt get entertained by her too though but i gotta admit she is a great strategist... just my two cents though...

the interesting thing about some of the points you raised here eli (#1 & #4) is that these reasons you have for thinking vecepia being a great gameplayer are really just repercussions of other players strategy and her coattailing their strategizing.

as for #2 and #3, say....richard hatch, or even amber brkich, was more than vocal and cocky about their respective places in the game. they certainly didnt stay away from the drama, yet managed to end up in the sole survivor seat. and i just think there is more boldness to that kind of playing than just staying "under the radar." see colby d. vs. shiann h. arguement at allstars for more details
