Dude, I don't do implants, I'm an orthodontist, I put braces on people.

I quoted the price charged by Implantologists.

The amount you pay covers the quality of material used. Of course the higher the fee, the better quality the material.

There is no law preventing/limiting the placement of implants by dentists. Not all dentists who place implants are Implantologist, just like not all dentist who place braces are Orthodontists.

You are better off having a specialist rather than a general practitioner do specialized procedures like implants. The likelihood of success and correct outcome is higher.

Specialists charge higher fees since this is a priviledge given by Philippine law.

Specialists like Cardiothoracic surgeons, Oncologists, Plastic Surgeons, Orthodontists and Implantologists have more extensive training, more familiar with a vast variety of techniques and generally offer "safer" treatment when it comes to complex procedures.

Fixed bridge is cheaper compared to an implant. A well made fixed bridge will last a good 10 years.

Implants offer a way to replace missing teeth without necessitating reducing/altering the teeth close to or adjacent to the edentulous (meaning "bungi") space.

Implant placement and success requires specialized training.

There are cheaper implants available if you shop around but I personally will not recommend them. What's the use of being thrifty if eventually your implants fail and fall off? You'll just be wasting your hard earned money.

oo nga doc! i think medyo complicated nga yung implants, ksi they using pala a piece of metal screw, tapos sscrew sa bone mo dun sa missing teeth, mukang masakit. pano kung lumuwag yung screw di another operation nanamn anothr gastos uli, totoo bang its more comfortable and more attractive in appearance, and its like a natural teeth, compared to bride na kailangan mo pang i floss lagi *** matanggal yung mga food debris, do you nkow someone have tried implants?

I'm an orthodontist, not an implantologist. It's best to consult specialists like those I've mentioned above for more information.

Implant failure (meaning when the metallic implant screws fall off or do not "take" or osteointegrate) can occur if the bone recieving the implant is not prepared properly and if it's not maintained carefully.

Even if all you have are implants, these implants need to be cleaned professionally by a dentist every 6 months, just like regular teeth.

It's not merely a matter of placing implants, it's knowing where to place them , how to place them and what type of implant to place which matters.

Whether you have an implant, a bridge, a filling or a removable denture, the area still needs to be cleaned very well, through brushing and flossing if possible.

normal lang ba sa mga naka fixed bridge yung, pag nag sasalita eh parang umuulan sa talsik ng laway? why is it na parang malakas maka accumulate ng laway pag naka bridge is there anything you can do about it to lessen it?

Eventually, you'll learn to adapt to them.

1. Crown - a prosthetic replacement which mimics the appearance of a tooth, cemented over a tooth that has been reduced in size.

2. Fixed bridge - a prosthetic replacement which mimics the appearance of many teeth, used to replace 1 or more missing teeth. It is bigger and longer than a crown and is also cemented into place.

Are your loosing your teeth due to cavities or due to gum disease?

A dental implant is a tooth replacement. A metal screw made of titanium alloy is inserted into the bone of the jaw and a crown placed on top of it. If done properly, it's function mimics that of a real tooth. Also, just like a real tooth, it has to be cleaned professionally by a dentist twice a year.

As with braces, dental implant services should be performed by trained specialists.

Improperly placed implants can fall off/fail. They can also be a source of infection if not well maintained.

There are two types of dental implants available:

1. Microimplants - cheaper, smaller, easier to place, easier to remove. The problem with these type of implants is that their stability (whether or not they will stay immovable in the mouth) is called into question. A lot of clinicians claim they are not sturdy enough to support a crown or a bridge and the risk of failure is higher.

2. Standard implants - cost more (P80,000 per tooth or even higher), harder to place (requires years of specialized training), but are the "gold standard" when it comes to implants.

Standard implants require complicated machinery and placement is techinique sensitive.

just a thought: would having false teeth implanted (if i get it right, screwed directly onto your bones) have any health implications as one reaches midlife and beyond? would they make your bones more brittle, for example? or would, say, octogenarians who've undergone the procedure have more gum-related pains?

i guess i just somehow have reservations on having foreign things permanently implanted on my person.
