i love fight club... tyler durden... wohoo !

Sensiya na mga Ineng. . . Wala ba talaga kayong balak tuklasin sina Kurt Vonnegut at Coetzee? Friendly suggestion la'ng.

  3. #23

invincible monster - revenge ang napansin kong main topic dito, pero gaya ng sa choke i dont find it intriguing. medyo wala masyadong twist gaya ng ibang novel niya gaya ng fight club (dual personality), survivor (the psychic set up the protagonist suicide), and lullaby (the irish cop was the female real estate agent).

    *This thread desreves a bump.*

Chuck Palahniuk, is, in my opinion, the most original contemporary American author living today. Him and Irvine Welsch literally resurected the Punk Literature genre.

Fight Club is my Bible. Tyler Durden is probably my favorite fictional character of all time.

Haunted - The short story Guts is the most insane thing I have ever read! Seriuosly, I define anyone to read that and not be affected in some way.

I also recommend reading some of his essays in NonFiction (the cover with the dog). Grabe, ang intense.

Anyone into Douglas Coupland? He's kind of like Palahniuk, only his ideas arent as extreme. Has anyone read GenerationX?

Any new books from him? Gusto ko kasing ipanregalo...

bump!! lately ko lang nadiscover si pareng chuck. una kong nabasa yung diary, at ito yung book ang reason kung bakit napamahal ako sa author na to. literally and figuratively. hehe kai pag nakakakita ako ng book niya somewhere, hindi ko matiis hindi bilhin kasi parang hindi masyado available ang books niya. am currently reading choke, and so far so good.

i love love this guy!! ang hirap nga lang maghanap ng Lullaby sa bookstores

  8. #28

i've heard that CHOKE will have a movie version with sam rockwell as the lead.

never had a chance to read any of his books but i rily want to especially fight club

  10. #30
Yup, I heard that SURVIVOR is being turned into a movie as well.

For those who haven't read Palahniuk, I would suggest maybe Fight Club (it's actually not as extreme as his other stories) or some of the short stories in Haunted. Try Survivor also. Extremely well-written.

His new book, RANT is now available in bookstores. Sana pumunta si Chuck dito for some sort of book tour. I'll be the first in line to get his autograph.

Choke will be released Sept 26 sa US (limited) daw.. sana ipalabas dito saten..

Choke the movie SUCKED bigtime. At least for me. Sucky acting from the girl who played Paige Marshall. I was expecting the movie to have this gritty feel and it ended up looking low-budget in a bad way.

So far I've read Fight Club, Choke, Haunted, Rant and Invisible Monsters. All good reads although I found Rant a bit dragging, or probably just because I'm not familiar with automobile terms.

    Kazarareta is right. CHOKE sucks.

And durden is also right about the story Guts in Haunted. It's the most outrageous contemporary thing I've ever read since American Psycho. I couldn't finish Haunted because of this chapter/story. Not to mention the infamous masturbation scene that nosferatujoe had mentioned above. Eek.

  14. #34
I wasn't really shocked with Guts in Haunted, but I must say it really is outrageous.

I found it more engaging to read Haunted in slow intervals than reading it...how about you guys?

    Up!

Kudos to this rarest kind of a writer of the sickest, most twisted and insanely original stories today. Insanity of the highest order.

If you're new to him, and wish to meet him, here's a short sample for you. Reader discretion for some disturbing content:

Lullaby is really Something. astig. but when i moved to his other works, his writing style became irritating. I guess there was too much repetition.
