Yup, ganun usually ang mga apartments dito, like what you said 'literally just vertical buildings stuck together'....Front width of the building is around six meters but the inside length is from 10 to 15 meters, ganun usually ang cut ng properties dito, kaya they tend to maximize space by building it higher (5 levels or higher).

paglabas palang ng airport, houses nila napansin ko... european style pero nakakatakot coz ang kikitid na mataas. parang pag may lindol eh tutumba kagad. Then gawa sa bricks *** houses.

1. May land crossing ba between Hanoi and Vientiane? How long does it take?

2. May hotels ba within the Halong Bay area?

3. Any recommendations on Good but cheap hotels in Hanoi?

you'll get to experience the HaNoi nightlife. look for the Kangaroo Bar, its an tourist road/sidewalk watering hole.

the reason why its better to take the HaLong 1 day tour is because you will get to HaNoi around 4-6pm after the 2d/1n tour. you won't have enough time to have the city tour. a stroll around Ho Kiem Lake at the most because all tourist sites are only open during office hours.

atleast you have an entire day for the city tour which is not even enough because there are to many sites to visit. and, you could freshen up before heading to the airport.

Di kaya yang Mekong Tour na half-day lang, travel from the city to the the docking area nasa 2 hours na one way lang. when we had the Mekong Tou before we left the city ng 8am, di na namin naabutan yung floating markets kasi past 10am na kami nakarating dun. got back home mag 6pm na.

Thanks for the help. Now im confused! kasi sabi pgdaytour daw alis ka ng 8-9am sa hanoi city then dadaanan pa yung ibang guest sa hotels then may dadaanan pa na souvenier shop. Around 1230pm na makakarating ng Halong Wharf. kumbaga 7 hours on the road there and back at 5 hours on the boat lang daw. *** we considered na mg overnight.
yun nga pg overnight nmn will be missing the city tour kasi nga around 430pm na ang dating sa city
other than cebu pac ano pa ba may hanoi-manila trip na mura lang?

same same, that is also what happened to us. we had to allot time picking up the other tourist from each respective hotels. and, there are pitstops to and from HaLong bay which would take around 1-1/2 at the most. from HaNoi its a food stop and coming home its the souvenir shops.

the overnight tour also includes the cave tour, kayaking, and fishing that if something would take a bite. but on the next day, its just breakfast and lunch.

if you would decide to take the overnight tour, make sure to bathe at night because there is no hot water in the morning.
