'di kami nakapunta ng Halong at Hanoi pero sa tingin ko mabibitin ka ng 1 day diyan at Mas maganda kung di mo masyado compress yung time mo kase sobrang mapapagod ka.

'di rin kami nag mekong pero ang cu chi tunnel namin na halfday 8:30AM - 12:00NN. 1.5hrs max time of travel from Pham Ngu Lao -> Cu Chi Tunnel

Your trip is too short to squeeze in everything, halos 2 days lang yun....obviously not enough!

2 days is barely enough for HCM alone and you are wishing to go to Siem Reap (to see Angkor ***) within that very limited time....Mapapagod ka lang nyan!

Best if your just enjoy HCM within that period.

bus from HCM to Siem Reap takes 13 hours one way.

so if you arrive saturday am, HCM tour ng saturday morning till pm, ganun ba?

and then fly out of SR to Manila Monday ng madaling araw. OMG, nakakapagod.

Going to a place just for the sake of 'being there'....that's nothing but a waste of time, money and effort!

You go to a place...you have to 'feel' it...see the sights, hear the sound, even savor the smell, and of course the taste it offers....Literally feeling the place....getting an 'imprint

VIETNAM has a lot to offer!

I'm here for more than a month, currently living in Can Tho City (around three hours from HCM).

Vietnam is a paradise for food trip-pers, tropical fruits galore, murang-mura ang prutas. Kahit saan ka pumunta nag-kalat ang outdoor cafes, food stalls offering all sorts of noodles, bahn-mi stalls.....street foods galore!

Even for a non-pork eater like me, marami pa ring makakainan...I specially like sea-food lau, pho-bo, all beef-based noodles......just last night I tried goat's meat lau and it was surprisingly good....and very cheap!

Got to visit HCMC last year. I tried couchsurfing rather than the usual tourist-y route para maiba naman.

My host family was nice. Got to tour me around the different Districts and some attractions like the night market, Ben Thanh market, the new tunnel, post office, the cathedral, etc. Sorry, I forgot the names.

The Viets are nice naman in general pero they kept asking me what I think about their country, haha. Kept on pestering me that their socialist govt system works even though I didn't ask them about it in the first place. And every stage has a statue of HCM!

Was able to conquer my fear of their roads because of all the motorbikes, sanayan nga lang. I stayed at a place where the houses were literally just vertical buildings stuck together (I think that was in District 4).

Food's ok. I got to taste their coffee peddled by the street. The beer's great! Buti naman my bro was a beer lover as well. I got to know more about Vietnam over alcohol.

My only gripe about the food was pho with cilantro. Never again!

Yup, ganun usually ang mga apartments dito, like what you said 'literally just vertical buildings stuck together'....Front width of the building is around six meters but the inside length is from 10 to 15 meters, ganun usually ang cut ng properties dito, kaya they tend to maximize space by building it higher (5 levels or higher).

About food, buti na lang gusto ko ang lasa ng cilantro (wansoy or coriander). Yun ang nagbibigay ng kakaibang lasa sa noodles nila, cilantro together with fresh mint leaves and basil....tapos maraming gulay-gulay, sssarrrrap, a bowl of pho-bo...anytime!

Yes, in time you'll get over the fear of crossing their roads with hundreds of motorbikes passing by.....para ka lang nakikipag patintero sa mga motorsiklo.

Yep, the first thing I noticed were the houses talaga. Pero ok naman sya. Di naman ako pihikan eh. As long as the basics were provided for, ok na ako. Besides, I was couchsurfing so I had to repeatedly tell myself I was just freeloading.

The first time I ate pho with cilantro, I wasn't able to finish it. I had to make excuses na masama pakiramdam ko. I prefer my noodles without the herbs.

Nagtaka nga ako the first time we had breakfast. My research was confirmed that most Viets don't eat rice for breakfast, noodles lang. And beer! I'm a beer drinker pero I was surprised they started drinking alcohol at that time of the day.

In a way, I'd say mas disciplined ang mga Viets when it comes to motorbike driving. At least, they follow the helmet rule ha.

I was able to go to the Independence Palace nga pala. The place's great. Creepy nga lang when you think that this place was bombed and the inner chambers were quite stuffy. Baka nga may namatay pa dun sa mga secret passageways.

I like Vietnamese fruits as well. I especially liked their mango with their salt. Not the regular salt. Yung parang may spices na kulay orange. I forgot to bring some home.

I almost bought a 120k dong shirt, yun pala tig-60k lang hahaha. Parang sa Pinas lang din pala.

Are you working in HCMC, greenlaser? How's the expat community there? I only got to chat with a few Caucasian tourists since I was pressed for time and the fact that I didn't really have a full free time for myself since I was being "hosted." I plan to go back soon, probably go to Hanoi this time.

So true. May nakasabay ako minsa sa Vientianne-BKK bus. Check na daw ang Laos sa list of countries to visit nila. I asked how many days sila sa VT, sabi nila 1 hour lang daw.
