Lest I forget, it is better to withdraw money from ATM in vietnam. In my trip report, I noted that the forex at the airport is at VND 398 = Php 1 while at the downtown Saigon, it is VND 350 to Php 1. However, when I checked my bpi account via online banking, I discovered that the conversion was at VND 468 = Php 1, with only Php 22 for international withdrawal charge. This is definitely the best deal (I withdrew money at Sacom Bank and Commonwealth Bank).
Indeed tumaas na ang entrance fee ng Dai Nam Park, or could it be that we visited on a Saturday? And though it is a saturday, sobrang konti lang ng tao, unlike any other parks that I have seen. The sheer size of the park can easily fit in about 30,000 pax but when we were there, siguro mga 1000 to 2000 max ang tao na andun.VND 50,000 na pala ang entrance sa Dai Nam. nung nandun kami last year lang (July) eh nasa 40,00 lang (parang ang laki naman ng difference sa currency nila )
^^hehe warlocke, am quite sure your kiddo/s will enjoy Dai Nam Park. It's like Star City, only way way bigger and it has many attractions to offer. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread! As always, I have crafted most of our travel itineraries from reading the contributions of PEX members. We'll be arriving at HCM April 16, do the City Tour, then April 17 do Dai Nam Park (naengganyo ako kay rap_sd6 hehe) then leave for Phonm Penh Apr 18 - taking the Mekong Express bus at 8:30AM.
My vietnamese friend noted that the best way to get to Siem Reap or Cambodia tour is via Sinh Cafe or now Sinh Tourist. They have the best and very reliable service (and cheapest rate if you have a vietnamese who can book you since they give the local rate).
^^hehe warlocke...i think Palawan is waaaay better than the Mekong Delta tour...i think what rivals Palawan is that of Halong Bay in Hanoi=).Cu Chi Tunnels was out of the question since I have a kid with me. I was thinking Palawan is more or less like Mekong Delta hence I think only Dai Nam Park was left of the things to do in HCM hehe
Dont forget to shop for some very good quality knock off northface bags at Saigon Square or Ben Thanh Market=).
@ rap_sd6
as usual very detailed report hehehe...
@ shuurei
sis how many days nga kayo dito? you can get tours from your hotel or dun sa sinuggest ni rap na agency. Relak relak ka lang hehe... and dont forget to buy original north face bags.
@ j3n9
Might skip it for now and go somewhere more Hardcore![]()
Thanks J3n9 I did see your posts now na medyo nag backread ako hehe
Ah, better so I won't need to shell out USDsSige let me do BPI, Metrobank kasi gamit ko and the last times I did that 150PHP ang charge....
Thanks for the tips rap_sd6, again very helpfulI'll check the SR trip via Sinh Tourist vis-a-vis booking it directly with Mekong Express...
Hanoi - probably next time
Yup, ikutan lang tayo ng ikutan ano hahahahaha.......plenty of the same people in different threads hehe...i can only choose one though because of the schedule so I guess Dai Nam more than Cu Chi...pag balik na lang siguro, kasi HCM, PP, SR ang iti namin...we can perhaps do HCM then Hanoi next time![]()
Honeybea, I'm still here in Hanoi and thanks my trip was indeed safe. I'm flying back to Manila tomorrow.
The TNF bags are stilll the same price as before... Ang galing inde tumaas. Tapos me mga magandang Crumplers na at Deuters backpack!!! Naloka na naman ako kakabiliI came here with bringing only a backpack and tomorrow I'm going home with more
Loko yun.
Anyway, this time, though boring dahil wala ako kausap, I enjoyed my Hanoi trip.
Have sa safe trip back dito sa PI, tomorrow!
Info naman po before I leave. Maraming salamat![]()
most common is Saigon Square... halos lahat ng pinoy dun din bumibili.. altho 98% are fakes.. may mga 2% din naman na orig.. but u need to ask and you need to have the sniper's eye.. hehehe
sa 2nd floor ng Saigon Square may isang seller dun minsan may mga orig sya.. pag.akyat mo ng stair.. yong unang stall na maraming bags.. kelangan kasi alam mo yong orig and fakes.. but u cud ask the seller.. medyo mas mataas price pag orig..
or you can try the Russian Market "Lucky Plaza".. kaso bihira ang marunong ng english.. mas maram orig dun... tho mas marami pa rin ang japeyks...
goodluck on your TNF hunting..![]()

wohooo!
yeah. masarap ang mura ang mga food. lalo na sa mga local restaurants at para kang hari kung pagsisilbihan.. hopefully you've tried this.. kaso no english nga lang..
benh tanh market bags.. not advisable as most if not all are fakes. (except vietnam brands)...
you should have tried sa gilid accross benh thanh.. right side if your in facing the main entrance.. or better sa saigon square or lucky plaza.. but am sure you've enjoyed..
i'lll be back this june hopefuly (last time was oct 2010).
