personally, mas okay ang shopping sa BKK kaysa sa HCMC

but going to Cu Chi and hearing how the Vietcongs won over the Americans is amazing.

though I didn't enjoy my Vietnam trip as much as my Thailand's, its still worth the trip for me.

ok din magshopping sa vietnam, i've been to hanoi. problem lang kung paano iuuwi yung malalaking vases, jars, paintings pero mura talaga. wala pang malalaking malls pero ok naman yung shopping district nila, hassle-to-d-max by calculator lang. hirap nga lang c andaming zero na pag sa pera nila hehehe...

food trip ka na lang, da best din.... masarap naman yung pho o kaya baguette na nilalako lang sa kalye. o kaya escargot (sosyal na kuhol)... french influenced kc yung northern part ng vietnam kaya ganun, nde lang architecture kundi pati food na rin kaya andami ring coffee/tea houses....

how much po kaya budget going to vietnam? pamasahe, then shopping money, pocket money? like in hkk, may hongkong and kowloon district ba yan wherein if shopping and pasyal hanap mo, sa kowloon district ka dapat tumira? thanks!

kung shopping Ho Chi, pasyal sa mga probinsya.

since backpacker friendly ang Vietnam you can find travel cafe's specially in Pham Ngu Lao(?) St. in District 1 for cheap day trip packages.

Di kami kumuha ng package when we went to Vietnam. Airfare is about USD240 I think then spend about USD250.

5D4N kami, 3N in HCMC and 1N in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

USD5 lang via bus to go to PP from HCMC.

I've been to Ha Noi. Quite interesting. Reminds me of one of our probinysa cities like Kalibo. Drivers are crazy!!! Crazier than ours. In the 3 days we were there, our group was involved in 2 accidents.

Try the exotic vodkas. Snake-vodka, seahorse-vodka, bayawak-vodka.... Supposed to be better than Viagra but didn't work for me.

I was in Ho Chi Minh in 2002. Probinsya nga ang dating. Mas maraming bisikleta and motorbikes kaysa sa kotse, in fact, nagta-traffic dahil sa mga ito. To enjoy the place, you should be ready for a 'culture immersion', they have preserved their culture to the max.

At the center of their plaza (Ho chi minh), there is this place called Lover's lane... named as such because couples go in the middle of the street and stay there, yun nga, parang lover's lane.

You can do a lot of shopping there, especially in that building called the Russian Building (if my memory serves me right). Commodities are relatively cheap. If you want to go to their market, its an interesting place to go there too.

If you would want to visit the outskirts, you can go to the place called Cu Chi Tunnel. This place showcases how the Viets defeated the Americans... you'd be amazed with their ingenuity.

On the way to the tunnel from Ho Chi Minh, I noticed something different in their backyards. Minsan may nitso sa harapan ng bahay. I thought it has something to do with their religion. The explanation given to me - dun na lang nililibing ang loved ones nila sa loob ng bakuran nila. Can't recall now if I saw cemeteries.

Asiamiles, its up to you what you'd want to do there. Personally, I did enjoy the place because I appreciated the value they gave to their culture. Daming bilihan, dami ring kainan.

Mayroon namang marunong mag-Ingles. Marami kasi sa kanila, nag-aaral mag-Ingles kasi nagto-tourist guide, malaki kasi ang compensation as compared to others. Kung sa mga palengke o bilihan, parang HongKong, minsan calculator ang katapat ng presyo (you communicate thru the calculator).

I can not forget that time when my companions and I went to church (Catholic) at the Plaza... ang misa Vietnamese ang dialect, wala kaming naintindihan. Tapos bumili yung kaibigan ko ng parang buchi dun sa ale na naglalako sa bangketa (similar to the tinderas outside churches here in the Pinas), katawa kasi, di magkaintindihan yung tindera at yung kaibigan ko sa presyo (di marunong gumamit ng calculator yung tindera at di rin makaintindi ng Ingles)... sign language to the max na lang ang nangyari, di namin alam kung sino ang nalugi sa bentahan.

btw, be ready for the hot and humid temperature. I went there March 2002, sa totoo lang, grabe ang humidity at pawis talaga. Maliligo ka sa pawis mo.

as of today, no plans yet. i just want to stay there, and observe, nothing definite talaga. we're also planning a short trip to phnom penh, just to see the difference. mukhang mag-eenjoy ako, kasi i love cultural attractions, although wag lang depressing
