But is it safe to take this option? I remember in 2001 I think, the chemtrad had been badly criticized for its very old 10 seater (am I right on this) planes? So I think Fokker 50 plane direct from Manila is a safer option than that...Originally Posted by housingloans12

batanes
saving up for this trip, target date: next summer![]()
Keep me posted, hope to see you there... let's plan it, maybe in Ivana town... lolOriginally Posted by SiOMs
well, the tuguegarao way is stressful coz u have to take a 12 hr road trip from manila to tuguegarao and then take a plane, chemtrad to batanes... yes, its cheaper but the whole travel takes a lot of your energy, however, if you're the adventurous type, then this will be a perfect road trip for you...
Going to Batanes is really expensive. Much expensive than Palawan. However it is worth it. It is the safest place in the Philippines.
Last time we were in Batanes, it was very very cold. So be prepared. If you lack money to buy clothes, there are UK (Ukay Ukay) in town (hehehehe).
whoa... and bring a lot of cash kasi medyo mahal ang mga bilihin dun... (but dont under estimate the ivatans, they are use to that hehehe..
been to batanes twice...
it really is avery nice place to go to... and the people are really very friendly. am going back there for the third time...
btw, one time i actually went there during the rainy season. now the winds are kinda stronger than what we experience here in the city but the weather is not all that bad.
and the expensive airfare is worth it once you arrive here.
see you around
i'd like to go there in august.. ok na ba weather by that time? seair lang ba may flight from manila to basco?
so pag andun ka na, san ka na pupunta? san matutulog?
napanood ko sa extra extra nung ma-feature to...from then on sabi ko ****..this is the place where i want to live in due time...ganda nung place..ska sobra kong nagandahan dun sa marlboro country a la batanes...
question lang.. where can you stay there and how much? thanks..
maraming matitirahan sa Basco like Shanedels, Ivatan lodge and 3-5 other inns/lodge. the rate back 2002 was 150pesos per person.
yung medyo high end is Batanes resort which is I believe is 1,500pesos ata.
sa Sabtang island wala akong napansin na lodge pero may mga locals na nagpapahomestay. same with Itbayat island.

November typhoons are seldom but the weather is unpredictable from that month till February. So the best month which I usually go and visit that beatiful island is from March auntil June...Originally Posted by cherub_08

Roundtrip airfare to either Singapore or Kuala Lumpur would only cost less than 4k. One-way airfare to Basco IS 4k. If you're a budget-conscious traveler, which destination would you choose?
Eto nakakainis eh. Bakit ba mahal ang domestic trips?
Incomparable naman ang SG/KL versus Batanes...I mean the 1st 2 are cosmo places while Batanes is pristine nature. They are of different league so it will really depend on the traveller on which one do you want more...the city or the rural?![]()
^Di naman kailangan pa ng Visa sa Batanes unlike when you travel to Singapore... it will cost you more than 4K
Pero it's good for the Batanes people to get rid of overflowing tourists kasi dun napi preserve ang kanilang unique culture from the rest of the Filipinos and Asia... unique talaga ang kanilang kultura which you can't find in any part of the Philippines or Asia..
Di kailangan ng visa to go to Singapore. You're missing my point here. Why should it be more expensive to go to Batanes? Nasa Pilipinas pa rin naman ito do ba? I'm sure a lot of Pinoys would love to see the place, but after considering the cost they'd rather go somewhere else.
