CaRaMBa, thanks! but I'm afraid there might be problem with it because we won't know when is our analysis or contribution enough to merit the pin. it's like asking "when is good, good enough". very relative answer because for you it maybe enough but for some its not. I think there should be a clear basis for it to be beneficial.

here's also a possible problem. Others might think there's a double standard for Admins and Moderators vs a member of pex. because you guys can just easily get the pins while for us we have to unlock it by ourselves.

X-wind - It's like Foursquare. You don't really have an official list, but you figure it out as you go along. Some people make their own list, some people just see it from friend's feeds, etc. Those are for the ones that are automatically given. I remember I found out about the World Cup badge through my friend, and he had to tell me what to do to unlock it. (You need to type "zzzzzz" when you check into a venue.) As for the other pins, yep, they are manually awarded. Eg. You get a Super 8 pin if you give a short, quality review. And yes, it's up to our discretion. By the way, we can do this because we have permission from Solar UIP. Most 'manual' pins will be given with conditions. Some will be easier than others. Eg. By just joining a promo, you get a pin right away. But for some promos, only the winners will get pins. As for the admins and mods, seeing the pins on their profiles is a way to "promote" the pins, in general. Personally, I am posting and going around more so that people will see the pins (which is why I'm using the basic "PEx Pins" pin even if I have the admin and moderator pin).

Premature matchup threads during NBA Playoff season will be considered misinformation, and hence a bannable offense. "Premature" is creating a thread without a series matchup being definite (eg. previous series' Game 7 is currently being played in the 4th quarter with 56 seconds left, XX team leading YY team 97-96.)
