    Marketing inquiry...

What if you were given the chance to advertise your product...
then the advertising agent gives you this offer...

    Print advertising
    estimated reach of 100,000 persons
The ad will be viewed at a minimum of 5 minutes/per person
    advertisement duration is 1 month...

what price will you pay for it?

He was asking for 1M... is it a good deal?

NO it is not worth it actually- I am sure it is just a waste of money. And JUST 100,000 Persons for a month? What kind of products do you have in that case?

My husband gets more than half a million hits a month on a website & he is not even selling any products.

    - 1M is good for 6 months at the side of an LRT train
    - 1M is about 10 ads at Inquirer, whose circulation exceeds 100K

Offhand it's probably a bad deal but tell us about the details of the ofer as well as your product, baka naman targeted yan. Kung ganun baka sulit din.

vinta...target is middle and upper class...
reach: 100,000 persons, estimated, then each person will view the ad for a MINIMUM of 5 mins...then ad will be placed for 1 month

hmm...i asked them to lower the price to 500k...kakahiya kasi kaibigan ko din...
what do you think should the price be?
IT'll be a FIRST daw kasi sa industry...since they can assure the advertiser that the estimated 100,000 viewers will really see their ad for more then 5 mins. each.

    ichi - Very iffy.

How can they assure you that the ad will be viewed for 5 minutes? You say that it's a first, it's hard to shell out something that big for something that's not yet proven.

Ichi what kind of products do you have? My husband helps launch products of the biggest companies in the world. Right now he is working with 7 big companies in the US & also in France. No advertising & you get to be able to talk with the right people(goverments, non-gov & privates) who can decide to buy the products if they think they are useful. But so far he only does this for companies with intellectual properties.

print advertising? what kind of print advertising is this? why is there a commitment that it will be viewed a minimum of 5 minutes/person? never heard of this kind of commitment, neither do i think it matters, nor can they make such a guarantee (print media means you hold the media on your hands, you can put it down anytime you want, right?). does not matter whether target reads it for 5 minutes or 6 minutes or 4 minutes or 1 hour. length of time it is read does not matter - it is not a guarantee of anything - not of comprehension, media values or effectivity or efficiency, nor recall. is this a new measure of effectivity? and why does it matter? so what if your ad is read for 60 minutes? it does not make the media a better choice, nor a better buy nor more effective. length of time an ad is read means squat.

first in the industry? what is it? what kind of print media is this where length of exposure matters? (this is not even looked at all even in time-bound media like tv or radio) is this a new way of looking at media buys? who or what company is making this commitment and for what?

depends on your product, your tareget market - dont think 500T or 1 million will give you any meaningful benefit from doing any kind of mass advertising. YOU WILL ONLY BE WASTING YOUR MONEY. spend the money on othr types of marketing efforts where that kind of mount would be put to better use.

sorry for your friend, but me thinks you're being had! dont believe these jokers.

could you please post here what your friend says to points i raised? giving your friend a benefit of a doubt - maybe i am missing something here or theres a new media and new kind of effectivity or efficiency measure (number of minutes read) that i have not heard of. want to learn of this thing that is new. thanks.

    picture this,

an ad which gurantees a minimum of 5 minutes exposure.
we are talking print here being viewed by reader for minumum 5 full minutes.

as a consumer being bombarded by ads from all aspect of your senses, (we're not yet counting the visual overload) to hold down a persons interest for your ad, for more than 5 seconds is hard enough. How much more 5 minutes?

a group of naked ladies surrounding your ad might get the attention of male consumers for a few minutes but 5?
it really must be a damn good print ad campaign for that kind of money.

^ Methinks it's a hoax. Aside from abcxyz's misgivings about length of viewing time as a measure of effectivity, there's also the question of HOW they're going to get people to read the ads for five minutes. May pilitan ba diyan? Or do they have a group of 100,000 people that they pay to read? If so, I'd rather have the names of those people for my sales force to contact.

    Sablay yan malamang.
