bluejeanbaby: october is off-peak as far as i know. and yes, the rate are higher during peak season.

i'm not sure if you can find a room with private t/b if you're going on your own. i suggest calling grandpa's inn if they have special rates for 1 person. i'll look for the room rates sheet they gave me and post the complete rates later. btw, this inn is highly recommended by locals for their reasonable rates and ambiance.

been to Vigan with 2 of my friends last aug. 27...we stayed for three days.. it was actually a spur-of-the-moment decision and exactly right after the super typhoon and the flood subsided in manila...

concerned friends told us to forego the decision since the roads might be slippery and dangerous...unfortunately, we didn't heed their advice...kaya nga nagre-route ang bus na sinakyan namin kasi close ang daanan sa Paniqui, Tarlac...we reached Vigan after approximately 11 hours of travel...

taking risk sometimes feels good especially if you turned out unscath...and since one of my friends will be moving to Canada, i thought it was such a nice feeling to be stuck together down the road...it gives you more time to bond before you part permanently...i'll soon lose a travel buddy and wouldn't be able to do much travelling unless of course i'll find someone that's willing to travel with me both in and out of the country...

im a Vigan first-timer and i love the place on the spot...too bad, the resto-bars closes just right after midnight...wala masyadong nightlife but i love the eerie feeling of walking along crisologo street on a midnight with nothing in sight but your shadow...tapos sa corner ng crisologo at *** isang street na nakalimutan ko na ang pangalan may punerarya ka pang madadaanan...hehehe!

ngapala, we stayed at Gordion Inn...nakakatuwa kasi they close the gate at 8pm, may curfew pala...hehehe! we went out at 10pm coz we were hungry and asked the gatekeeper to watch for our coming...we visited Cafe' Uno and Cafe' Leona...when we came back and that was a quarter past midnight, we have to rang the doorbell dahil naka-tulog yung gatekeeper hehehe...

kaya kung ako sa inyo, better visit Vigan soon...it's worth your money!

a ya, pml at the curfew at gordion.... i had dinner at cafe uno and was not able to get back until 10.

@my_SeBaSTiaNnE, eys, you need a digicam. anything less won't do.

    enjoy your visit!

  9. #69
Do all the inns there have a curfew? Mireksciror I still haven't gone to Vigan yet. I don;t want to go there on my own and I can't afford to pay for a companion.

we are planning to go to vigan next month, probably will leave manila friday nite (oct 22) then return the following monday. thanks mirekscibor, et al for the best travel tips

  11. #71
@bluejeanbaby: not sure if all hotels have curfews. if they do, it should not be a big deal. just inform them that you might be late coming back so they can wait up.

btw, why don't you want to go alone? it may turn out to be fun, ya never know.... or since you're shooting for october, you can ask (read: bribe ) lupin to hang out with you.

    OT:
vigan does not have a night life, understandably so as it is still a province, relatively compared to manila. however, the attractions more than compensate for this lack. to max your visit, sleep early and wake up early.

  12. #72
nice suggestion mirekscibor, i could take the bribe bluejeanbaby i'll be with friends (all girls) so no problem if you want to join us

  13. #73
Thanks for the invitation lupin, but I'm sure you don't want strangers around. And I bet Mirekscibor just put you up to this. But when you guys go, tell me how it is.

I can't go on my own because 1) it'll be too expensive 2) if I get lost or if something wrong happens I'm screwed. 3) It's be nice If I had someone to share the fun with right.

What time does the bus to vigan leave at night?

  14. #74
no probs bluejeanbaby i've travelled with strangers who became friends before and usually the awkward moments don't last long. do join us. at least you'll have some "new friends" to take your pics

  15. #75
bluejeanbaby, partas has hourly trips.. just not sure if they operate 24 hours. i suggest calling them up to find out. they have terminals at cubao and pasay.

tama--at walang traffic diyan unlike when you are southbound--bast travelling north of luzon--it gets more relaxed as you travel--unlike papunta dito sa Manila--grabe--

    Pagudpud , i agree--maganda diyan..ibang klase..but the ocean is a little cold..but ganda parin.
I had an aunt living there before--diyan kami pagbakasyon..

    Vigan= heaven = hometown ko
