How's the terrain in Sagada? Can seniors (ages 65-75) enjoy exploring the town? Thanks in advance.

    Philippines Last Shangri-la:
Sagada has much more to offer, we can only feature a few here just
to give you a glimpse of their wonderful culture, unconventional
practices and traditions handed on from one generation to another.
Taking a journey to Sagada is one story you can pass-on from years
to come. Come, see and take that journey to the past.
Join Sagada December Chill on December 27-30, 2004

    Sagada Fast Facts:
Although Bontoc is the province's capital, the town of Sagada is
more famous among tourists. Its rice terraces, compared to the
Banaue rice terraces, are equally spectacular. Whereas the walls of
the Banaue's terraces are of compacted earth, Sagada's walls are
small rocks Laboriously piled one on top of the other. The town is
also known for its limestone caves that served as burial grounds
    during the pre-Christian Sagada era.
The months of December to February are Sagada's coldest. Daytime
    room temperature ranges from 7 - 15 C (45 - 59 F) and at times goes
down to 3 C (37 F) at dawn. The cold can also be biting ,March to
May are relatively dry with occasional thunderstorms occurring as
    June approaches.
With Baguio City, the Philippines' Summer Capital, becoming more and
more saturated during vacation time, local tourists are looking for
other alternative vacation spots. SAGADA, with its cool climate and
pine sceneries seems to be a BETTER choice, with an increased flow
of local tourists observed in the past couple of years

    SAGADA has:
Caves - that can be explored by both professional and
    amateur spelunkers and explorers
Underground Rivers -if you dare to take a deep in the cold dark
    waters
Waterfalls-bathe in the cold cold waters
Hanging Coffins -stacked up one pile after the other on sharp edge
    rock formations
Rice Terraces- Mabisil and Kiltepan are stunning
Century Old Burial Sites- Lumiang Burial Cave and near the
    underground river.

Note: When going to a particular place, it is best to be acquainted
with the history and the culture of the people as to facilitate the
best relationships between tourists and locals. (This is through
the help of your tour guide.) Sagadans welcome tourists and
visitors SO PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL of SAGADA WAYS, TRADITIONS and
UNWRITTEN LAWS. Observe, be a courteous visitor

Just got back from Sagada with NACCI. Grabe ang saya. I went alone and made lots of friends. Challenging yung Sumaging Cave. pati yung hiking to Bumod-ok falls. I loved my trip. No regrets.

  14. #94
Anybody been to Sagada lately? Anything new to expect there?

  15. #95
    question.

is it ok to bring a laptop to sagada? kasi i plan to take a lot of digital pictures (about 200 pics a day) and i need a laptop to download my pics to. are the places that i will be staying safe para iwanan ang laptop na iyon while i am out and about enjoying the whole place (caves, hanging coffins, waterfalls, etc.). may mga tao ba akong mapag-iwanan ng laptop ko, na mapagkakatiwalaan ko?

You can stay at St. Joe's and choose a private room instead of a bunk. That way you can lock your room when you need to go away someplace. Be sure to have a spare memory stick when you take the trek to the large falls. You will surely need it

  17. #97
thanks! i will take your advice.

i have na a 500 mb mem stick, e. and one small 32mb one. so bibili pa ako ng isang mem stick?

  18. #98
i really miss sagada... nandun pa din din ba yung shamrock cafe? i remember seeing pepe smith there!! haha

Ok na yan may laptop ka namang dala eh. Be sure you have waterproof packs for those things. Always have drinking water ready too since it is a long trek (but quite picturesque, though )

Went to Sagada five years ago. (Banaue-Sagada-Baguio in three days)

    Notes
    • the roads are scenic but you'll scared out of your wits
    • 500 pesos got us a guide for the entire day
    • we ate pinikpikan! yum

    we went to...
sumaging cave - a good three hours... astig, if we weren't with our mom, we could have done the 6-hour traverse.
echo valley - for some reason, nahiya akong sumigaw
hanging coffins - ah, so yun pala yun... hahaha
    shamrock cafe - wahahahaha
the waterfall - nagswimming pa nga kami eh...

after stating at a big suite at Banaue Hotel, we stayed at a 80 pesos a day transient in Sagada!

    I am sXe
