    Ako na rin nga

Wanderlei Silva (Brazil) vs. Hidehiko Yoshida (Japan)
    - No more underestimating Yoshida. Silva TKO R1
Dan Henderson (USA) vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (Brazil) *
    - This is the toughest of all to call. I like Hendo but I'll say Li'l Nog SD
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (USA) vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (Brazil) *
    - I like Rampage but this match makes me nervous. Rampage TKO R2
Igor Vovchanchyn (Ukraine) vs. Yuki Kondo (Japan)
    - Kondo will probably trade again. Bad move. If he plays it smart, he could win though. Igor KO R1
Kevin Randleman (USA) vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura (Japan) **
    - Hmm, depends on which Randleman shows up. Randleman UD
Kazushi Sakuraba (Japan) vs. Yoon Dong Sik (Korea) **
    - Maybe Yoon Dong Sik isn't such a pushover. He's quite confident. But experience should win the day. Saku UD
Vitor Belfort (Brazil) vs. Alistair Overeem (Holland)
    - Also depends on which Vitor shows up. I'm assuming the old Vitor. If he doesn't KO in R1 he may get in trouble. Vitor TKO R1
Dean Lister (USA) vs. Ricardo Arona (Brazil)
    - I really don't know Lister too well. This should be a good sub war. Arona sub R2

    * - I hate these matches. It's too early. I'd rather see them all make it to round 2 before matching them up.
** - These are who the * fighters should have faced instead.

You guys should check out MMANews.com forums. Look for the Fedor vs TK video. Boy was TK f'd up!

Silva is still by far the MW king (much as Fedor is the runaway HW king). I wanna see though if he still falls for the machine-gun hands of Vitor like last time hehe.
they were saying something about what Kikuta was quoted in the magazines, that he was talkin sh|t about Otsuka's wrestling buddies and O was just pissed off about it. i guess he was being a real friend.

which tournament was that Silva-Hunt match? i gotta see it coz this muthafukah is just mean and thank the gods he's human.

  3. #83
Silva-Hunt was on Pride Shockwave last Dec. Even though Silva was grossly outweighed, it was still kinda weird seeing him being tooled in an all-out slugfest as he usually gets the better of his opponent in these kinds of fights. I always thought he could hang with anyone in a brawl, even the heavyweights. Sabagay, this is Mark Hunt after all. Maybe if he was brawling with Nog who is primarily a submission expert, but probably not with bigger tougher brawlers like Hunt, Fedor or Crocop. Well, all the more reason to see how he fares against borderline heavyweight/middleweights like Igor or Vitor in the current middleweight GP!

Based on the video above.. seems to me that the fight was indeed a work. Parang Ken Shamrock took a dive or something.. Well, i havent seen the entire match to really decide if its a work or not so i'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt.

yuck... bad footwork (at least a bad fake)... an experienced fighter goes down on a jab, unimpressive. they should at least make up a plausible work. this just won't wash.

  8. #88
I read from the reports that Shamrock slipped attempting a kick. Maybe it's just coincidence that Franklin threw a punch at the same time. Which is why it looked like a fake knockdown.

Then again Franklin said he was surprised Shamrock wasn't doing much to stop him.

Oh ok, so that wasn't the "final slip". Matching up these two has turned out to be a big mistake. The initial plan was a win-win situation. Either a.)Shamrock would be set-up for a huge fight with either Ortiz or Couture or b.)Franklin would be established as a new face in the short-on-talent Light Heavyweight division. Now Franklin says he'll be moving back down to the already-stacked Middleweight division. All they did was reduce Ken Shamrock's marketability while the LHW division is still in search of stars to replace Couture, Lidell, Ortiz and Belfort. (the TUF winners probably still have a ways to go)

Finally, Chuck "IceMan" Liddell is getting the recognition he deserves. Bring on Tito.. then Silva

With regards to Ken Shamrock.. boy this guy needs to retire to save whatever credibility he has left. Don't get me wrong. He and Royce Gracie were my favorites during the early UFC days but he simply cant compete anymore. I hope he doesnt challenge Tito again..

RESULTS OF PRIDE MIDDLEWEIGHT GRAND PRIX

-Kazuhiro Nakamura def. Kevin Randleman via Unanimous Decision.
-Ricardo Arona def. Dean Lister via Unanimous Decision.
-Igor Vovchanchyn def. Yuki Kondo via Unanimous Decision.
-Alistair Overeem def. Vitor Belfort via Submission (guillotine choke) in Round 1.
-Antonio Rogerio Nogueira def. Dan Henderson via Submission (armbar) in Round 1.
-Kazushi Sakuraba def. Yoon Dong Sik via KO (punches) in Round 1.
-Mauricio "Shogun" Rua def. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson via KO (knees) in Round 1.
-Vanderlei Silva def. Hidehiko Yoshida via Split Decision.

Ok, based from my early predictions i got 4 out of 8. I'm surprised that Kevin Randleman lost to Nakamura. that's 4 losses in a row. Chute box definitely has Rampage's number. Ever since Rampage lost to Wanderlei, he hasnt been the same. I applaud lil Nog for being able to submit Henderson who usually is an excellent escape artist. Finally, Alistair Overeem def Vitor Belfort via guillotine choke? who would have thought.. Bihira yata magsubmit sa chokes or locks mga brazilian lalo na if you are schooled by a Gracie. To think submission isnt Overeem's main forte.

    patlv23 - you got 5/8 ..

Not bad for my first on-line predictions I guess Damn, Hendo and Rampage gone already. That's what they get for matching some of the favorites up so early. A sorry loss for Belfort too. Maybe the situation with his sister affected his performance. A loss is still a loss though. Oh well, round 2 still looks good:

    -Kazuhiro Nakamura
    -Ricardo Arona
    -Igor Vovchanchyn
    -Alistair Overeem
    -Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
    -Kazushi Sakuraba
    -Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
    -Vanderlei Silva

kinda late, but just wanna say that bonnar vs griffin fight was awesome.I think joe rogan even went as far as saying it was the greatest fight he's ever seen.just when u thought someone was goin down, they took the punches and duked it out somemore.

as for diego, that dude is awesome.predicted that he'd have the result he had.

never really thought about that shamrock slip being a work.overall,it was cool to finally have a live UFC event on non-PPV cable tv.hope they have more.can't wait for season 2 of the ultimate fighter!!!

  19. #99
hmm.. the franklin vs shamrock fight sounds fishy to me..
and it isn't because of those 2 slips he had..

when did you ever see ken give a leglock away when he has it locked in? ok, you might say rich franklin escaped the leglock..
but ken was cranking the ankle then he just suddenly let go.

and when he was getting pummeled by rich on the ground he didn't even pull guard, he just sat there and covered up..

well, these might be the signs of an aging warrior..
but i still believe that ken has something left in him..
but if it's inevitable then it's time to move on, and save his reputation..

shamrock will still be one of the greatest pioneers of MMA
