i'm wondering if there's a philatelic organization here in the philippines who issue newsletters, events info & stuff.

i have stamp collections from different countries.

but the stamp i value the most is the Elvis Presley commemorative stamp issued on 1993 which was cancelled on the first day of issue so i didn't take it off from the envelope. which makes it even more valuable. they issued almost 3 million copies but the demand is still high even today.

anyway, if you have info re philatelic organization here in the philippines and how one may join or subscribe, kindly email me at agp@compass.com.ph.

    Thanks a lot!

    Any PEx-ers into stamp collecting?

I have a collection dating back from the 1940's. Would anybody know how much these are worth now, and where I can sell? =)

    Please PM me. Thanks!

i do; pero am just partially active. I'm a bit disheartened on the quality and designs the philipine post office issues today... BUT it's still nice to visit the grand Philippine post office building once in a while the old lady clerk on the "stamps" window (left, near the vending machine) is very accomodating and is a pleasure to talk to...

...i got my start from the collection of my grandfather which, he passed to me and i added some pieces which i found from antique stores and the few letters- domestic & foreign- that our house receives. A few people also have given me stamps for free after showing to them my humble collection...

Ironically, some of my best philippine stamps came from overseas and it can be cheaper too! Try ebay!- i highly recommend the canadian seller by the name of "doucetl." I don't have a credit card so one time, i sent her 20$ by ordinary mail... tagal din, it took 6 agonizing weeks before my stamps arrived

I really don't have any topical/ theme in my collection... but i suppose i have a soft spot for phlippine stamps...

... I have some extra stamps from "ceskoslovensko" (chekoslovakia- the land of Milan Kundera and Kafka, that country doesn't exist now diba ) in good condition and siguro bigyan na lang kita ... what do you have there? ...I'm always looking for the "pasko" series that was issued in the 80's and anything benigno aquino...

i also have a stamp from czechoslovakia pero isa lang...yep, that country is nonexostent ngayon, it dissolved into two states na..

i'd love it if you'll give me some...hehehehe

I collect stamps too but I'm not active. I get my stamps either from those attached in the mail that arrives in our house or I buy in World Treasures (Southmall, Megamall, Galleria, etc.), but they're a bit pricey so I don't collect that much now.

I have a series which has a mistake in it (unused, in good condition), I have 2 copies of another series - one is perforated and the other is not. I also have a first day cover and some souvenir sheets.

Another reason why I'm not actively collecting is because stamps today use modern printing methods unlike older stamps which are press-printed so you can feel the texture (like monetary notes).

I also have a difficult time removing the used stamps from their envelopes; I always end up making creases in the stamp which of course depreciates the stamp. But I still keep these even if they're not in good condition. How about you guys, do you keep the stamps even in they have damages, or do you only retain those in perfect condition?

Hello Glad to see that there's a thread like this. I used to be active in stamp collecting, up until high school. Nakatago na lang sa house yung collection ko. I think my younger sis keeps it now (indirect pamana hehe).

I got started with the hobby in Grade 4. My aunt gave me her collection which was given to her by her grandma (my great granny!). I would say na malupet yung collection na pinamana niya sa kin kasi puro old Philippine stamps like merong triangular na stamp on the 1935 Constitution (?), Olympic stamps from the 1930's, tsaka may mga ASEAN stamps din. I also have Czech stamps na pagkalaki-laki hehe. Namimiss ko na yung collection ko ah!

SpellbindMedia what I used to do remove stamps from the envelope was I cut around it (don't peel it!) then dip it in a bowl of water. The water will loosen the adhesive and it will be easier to remove the stamp from the envelope

I think if they're used ok lang, hindi naman issue yon.

Pero mas valuable kapag unused, and more valuable if rare, first edition, part of a first day cover or souvenir sheet, no perforations, may mistake, etc.
