i'm wondering if there's a philatelic organization here in the philippines who issue newsletters, events info & stuff.
i have stamp collections from different countries.
but the stamp i value the most is the Elvis Presley commemorative stamp issued on 1993 which was cancelled on the first day of issue so i didn't take it off from the envelope. which makes it even more valuable. they issued almost 3 million copies but the demand is still high even today.
anyway, if you have info re philatelic organization here in the philippines and how one may join or subscribe, kindly email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks a lot!
I am also in philately when I was in high school , kinda busy na when in college and have work ... wanna start it again ... = )
i started collecting stamps when i was in grade 5, i think. it's a project kc eh.. and i got hooked..
kaso i stopped na when i reached college..(third year na me this coming school year) hehe la na kc time eh..
i still have my collection somewhere in my room.. hehe
i cant remember the oldest stamp i had eh..
1863 stamp from NSW, Australia
how about appraisals? Who knows where to bring stamps to get a fair price for them?
Any PEx-ers into stamp collecting?
I have a collection dating back from the 1940's. Would anybody know how much these are worth now, and where I can sell? =)
Please PM me. Thanks!

sino nagcocollect ng stamps dito? we can trade if you want.
i do; pero am just partially active. I'm a bit disheartened on the quality and designs the philipine post office issues today... BUT it's still nice to visit the grand Philippine post office building once in a while the old lady clerk on the "stamps" window (left, near the vending machine) is very accomodating and is a pleasure to talk to...
...i got my start from the collection of my grandfather which, he passed to me and i added some pieces which i found from antique stores and the few letters- domestic & foreign- that our house receives. A few people also have given me stamps for free after showing to them my humble collection...
Ironically, some of my best philippine stamps came from overseas and it can be cheaper too! Try ebay!- i highly recommend the canadian seller by the name of "doucetl." I don't have a credit card so one time, i sent her 20$ by ordinary mail... tagal din, it took 6 agonizing weeks before my stamps arrived
I really don't have any topical/ theme in my collection... but i suppose i have a soft spot for phlippine stamps...
... I have some extra stamps from "ceskoslovensko" (chekoslovakia- the land of Milan Kundera and Kafka, that country doesn't exist now diba ) in good condition and siguro bigyan na lang kita ... what do you have there? ...I'm always looking for the "pasko" series that was issued in the 80's and anything benigno aquino...
that's a great info about your collection...i don't have any themes in collecting too...basta stamp - i collect it...yeah, philippine stamps are not so interesting lately...paliit ng paliit...
i also have a stamp from czechoslovakia pero isa lang...yep, that country is nonexostent ngayon, it dissolved into two states na..
i'd love it if you'll give me some...hehehehe
Sure i'll give you some of my extra stamps, its my little way of assisting other collectors ... the thing is i lookep up your profile and (well, i assume) you're in CDO- so how do i go about to giving them to you?
pm me your mailing address na lang i suppose and i'll send it to you as soon as i have the time it would be a good thing too, since i'll get to visit the post office again
I collect stamps too but I'm not active. I get my stamps either from those attached in the mail that arrives in our house or I buy in World Treasures (Southmall, Megamall, Galleria, etc.), but they're a bit pricey so I don't collect that much now.
I have a series which has a mistake in it (unused, in good condition), I have 2 copies of another series - one is perforated and the other is not. I also have a first day cover and some souvenir sheets.
Another reason why I'm not actively collecting is because stamps today use modern printing methods unlike older stamps which are press-printed so you can feel the texture (like monetary notes).
I also have a difficult time removing the used stamps from their envelopes; I always end up making creases in the stamp which of course depreciates the stamp. But I still keep these even if they're not in good condition. How about you guys, do you keep the stamps even in they have damages, or do you only retain those in perfect condition?
Hello Glad to see that there's a thread like this. I used to be active in stamp collecting, up until high school. Nakatago na lang sa house yung collection ko. I think my younger sis keeps it now (indirect pamana hehe).
I got started with the hobby in Grade 4. My aunt gave me her collection which was given to her by her grandma (my great granny!). I would say na malupet yung collection na pinamana niya sa kin kasi puro old Philippine stamps like merong triangular na stamp on the 1935 Constitution (?), Olympic stamps from the 1930's, tsaka may mga ASEAN stamps din. I also have Czech stamps na pagkalaki-laki hehe. Namimiss ko na yung collection ko ah!
SpellbindMedia what I used to do remove stamps from the envelope was I cut around it (don't peel it!) then dip it in a bowl of water. The water will loosen the adhesive and it will be easier to remove the stamp from the envelope
ako din, collect din. 800 na nga e. Pero I stopped many years ago. Most na nung collect ko e meay mga violet markings na e. Do they count? O kelangan walang tatak yung meron ka?
I think if they're used ok lang, hindi naman issue yon.
Pero mas valuable kapag unused, and more valuable if rare, first edition, part of a first day cover or souvenir sheet, no perforations, may mistake, etc.
i used to collect also.. i started when i was in grade 3.. (?! not sure, pero grade school.. then nakalimutan ko na sya..)
kakacheck ko lang ng collection ko kanina.. most of them i got from letters.. some were given to me by my friends..
err, J-X91 nakuha mo na yung mga stamps? minail ko siya mga 2 weeks ago, how ironic... sana lang di siya pinag-interesan sa post office... these days, you never know...
Anybody interested in buying first day of issue stamps circa 1940-1970? I got lots of it.Even those from R.O.C. (taiwan).you can text me at 0919-4424174
