That proved fatal for hundreds of thousands of Filipinos.
So who could have saved us against the japanese occupation? Aside from US only Britain and USSR were the powers that could have matched Japan at that time. But these two countries were already at war against the Nazis and fighting for their survival. If not for the US japan would have reigned in the pacific for many years because European countries were busy in their own war.

Xpact. If the Japanese won that war. Then, Our history will be written like this, "Japan liberated us from the claws of the Americans. They will be our hero and not the other way around. Now bakit mo kailangang maniwala sa alin mang History? Both are written by the victors na puro pampapogi sa kanila, na ang masama ay ang kalaban. Although pareho pareho naman silang masasama. Do you really think they saved us. And hoping they will save us again from someoneelse? Think again. Tutulungan ka nila kung mas malaki ang pakinabang kaysa sa mawawala.

PH gained independence from the Spaniards until the U.S. colonized the country. Thus, PH did not gain its independence thanks to US help but lost it due to the opposite.

It is also likely that the U.S. would have attacked Japan whether or not Japan invaded PH because of Pearl Harbor, and not very likely for Japan to hold on to much of the Pacific as it lacked manufacturing capacity and manpower.

Finally, documents like PPS23 and the Dodds report reveal that the US may have had other plans for PH after WWII, i.e., force it to focus on agricultural subsistence and to remain a source of raw materials for industrialized countries like Japan. This may explain, among other things, decontrol measures imposed by the IMF from the 1960s onward and support of the Marcos dictatorship.
