Beware of RCG... They have a hire and fire policy. They hire people and fire them on their first day if they lose the project you are supposed to be assigned to... They will definitely destroy your future as an IT professional as they have destoyed a lot of lives already and has a ton of cases with labor.

The recruitment says and promises the nicest thing but once your in they will treat you like crap. Crappy PC Terminals. All sites are block. Nothing. It's like a computer shop. Netopia has better PC's than them.

The politics here in this company are also rampant as you will not have a chance if you are not an a_ s kisser.

Please find another company to work for. Or stay in your current work. Remember they promise a lot but does not deliver on their promises...

Don't destoy your future with this company. Please pass the message to your colleagues.

    I just like to comment:

RCG like any other companies(accenture, headstrong etc) went through some series of retrenchments and redundancy programs during the height of the US recession where projects in the US were either cancelled or placed on hold... so for redundancy....yes its true but give me one US based IT company that did not?

2nd, yes there was indeed a project which was supposed to start but has cancelled and those who were hired for the project had to be let go since there were no other projects at that time...

3rd, not ALL sites are blocked in RCG, only those sites that do not have any relevance to your work(facebook, friendster etc.), I can still do my online banking like transfer and pay bills and being a software developer I needed access to internet to research. I think this is better than when I used to work for another company where all sites were accessible, productivity was low and not to mention virus and worms finding their way into the network and cause work disruptions. Adding websense to these sites was just for protection.

As for the PCs, I have been to Netopia and I think I find the PC I am using right now better than the ones in Netopia..it's a slim Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM HP pc with LCD monitor. Yes there are old PCs in the office that are assigned to those who dont really need powerful PCs to do their tasks. It really depends on your task.

As for destroying future, well I have no comment on this....

I think every company has its own problems/dark sides or mistakes in decisions, its just up to the person to see if he has a future in the company he is seeking employment, complete research and knowledge will surely help...

As for me, I am still glad I decided to join RCG and not Accenture or Lawson (Accenture retrenched around thousands and headstrong also had retrenchment programs, refer to corresponding threads here)

I think the post above is just exaggeration....my advice for those applying at RCG just go ahead and apply and ask questions, know what project you will be in and its status. Ask details and also do some research.

    Unhappy RCG Employment Package

Realization: Beware of companies na afraid magsabi ng compensation & benefits package nila before undergoing job application. Mahirap yung after mo magpabalik-balik at mag-ilang absent sa current job ay babaratin ka lang nila.

    Pasingit lang.

This the same thing with me, I had to sign first the offer sheet/employment contract before their client interviewed me. I have no problems with it though because before I signed, we fully discuss the package (compensation and other benefits), which I find attractive(at least for me). I guess they are making sure you wont backout in case the client chooses you.

Bottomline, same with your other applications, ask questions, get the details, read the fine line. Know whats in store with you when applying/joining a new company.

    Goodluck!

being "benched" is kind of scary, right? are you familiar with their policy on "benched" employees?

  14. #74
@rozzcb: care to elavorate what do you mean by hidden charges?

I'm considering to apply but I really want to know more about this company first. I hear a lot of things (bad ones actually) from friends (na wala namang actual experience din... they just learned it from a friend of a friend... something like that).

Like onshore package isn't nice (though I'm not really a big fan of onshore assignment). Sa akin lang eh baka ma-onshore ka nga, ikaw pa lugi. And a HR person told me once na nadedelay daw ang sweldo dito?

Feedback please. It will help us a lot. TIA.

Being "benched" is not scary if you are a master of the art of doing nothing. You still get all your benefits and salary. It's just too...well, boring. You'll catch all the rust you can get. But that's just me.

"benched" = "1st to go on cost cutting"

    Is this always true?

Hidden charges = other fancy deductions from your salary agency rules they say but not really sure. This is based from my friends experience that's why they left agency and went to another agency.

About sa nadedelay ang sweldo. Yup that's true but not always minsan minsan hehehe...

So kumusta naman ang application mo? How long ka i-inform ng HR after ng interview with the client?

For someone who works at RCG, it's a hit or miss thing.

Honestly I think it depends on the person on what his/her expectations are for the company, true they had an hire and fire project.

the pre-contract agreement was explained thoroughly that hey had cases where after the client has interviewed the candidate and both liked each other, the candidate would then jack up his asking rate before signing the contract (losing the opportunity or RCG losing the client or candidate). besides there's no obligations for the pre-contract agreement (only you can't change the agreed salaries and benefits).

as for late salaries? never experienced it, they have a great accounting department and usually your pay comes in a day before the 15th or 30th of the month. and surprisingly has no "hidden charges".

now the bad part. the "On-shore" projects have a low per diem compared to other companies (lowest I've been offered from their competitors), that it's just enough to live properly, however accomodations are pretty decent if you're alone. otherwise if you have a roommate, you share the apartment, one of you sleeps on a sofa bed for months.

as for the IT group? well, web sense is fine. it's good they block out certain sites, however the problem I noticed is they don't share their licenses to their developers which is a first for me being 10 years in soft dev industry here and abroad.

for example you're a .net developer, your project requires you to work on VS2005, or SQL server 2005. since you're not required to use the newer versions you're not allowed to install it or get a copy for training even if you petition it to your IT director (which seems to be a hard headed selfish idiot who doesn't know what he's doing), now my problem with this and most companies know. in software development you need to upgrade your skillsets every few years to be competitive.

now if they prevent their employees from using the new tools how would they be "sell-able" 3 years down the road? every self decent software developer knows you cannot learn the intricacies of software development if you can't play, prototype or test all these technologies if you can't even get the proper softwares needed in your home or dev machine!!!.

even when I was in accenture I was given and MSDN license where I could download all the microsoft software I needed and study them at home, provided I tell them to add the skillset on my matrix if I believe I could comfortably work with the technology already.

now thanks for that. But as I remember, the pre-contract agreement says that if you backout you'll have to pay the cost of your application process bla-bla...

Anyways, just felt weird about it since their application process is too lengthy that I had several haircuts already.

I understand the msdn subscription thing, so it means that even if I have my own license I cant install the software to play as my sandbox?

Are you happy working there or do you regret?

Lastly, after the client intrvw, what's next? tnx
