DISEDERATA is still the best!
DISEDERATA .. hmmmmmmmmmmm
Perspective
Look up at the stars on a clear night. You are not looking at some illusion. They are really there. The vast magnificence of the universe is not "out there," it is real and it is here. You are right in the middle of it.
Though your problems of the moment may seem overwhelming, stop and ask yourself, "Compared to what?" Consider that the sun will rise tomorrow. The seasons will continue to change. The light from distant stars will continue to stream across the vast reaches of space, to sparkle before your eyes.
Are your challenges really insurmountable? If they seem to be, then enlarge your perspective. You have plenty of room to do that. You have an entire universe against which to consider those challenges. Back off far enough, and they will appear very tiny. Look at a big enough picture, and you'll find the courage, energy and inspiration to move on through those seemingly overwhelming problems.
Unclog your mind
A great way to keep your mind sharp and clear is to do things when they need to be done. When you think of something you must do, get to work on it as quickly as possible, and then continue working on it until it is finished.
Tasks which you put off until later, or which you start and then put off finishing, will have the effect of clogging your thoughts. If you regularly and consistently procrastinate, your mind will soon become so filled with thoughts of what needs to be done that there will be little room for anything else.
Clear out all those "need to dos" from your thinking by actually getting them done. Rather than worrying about them over and over again in your mind, do them once and be finished. Free your mind to recognize new opportunities, to develop new insights and to focus clearly on the business at hand.
Ngayon ko lang nabasa yung Sadness.
Today is probably one of the worst days I've ever encountered in my life, and I really needed something to cheer me up. Naalala ko ito as I was scrolling through the active forums, at hihingi sana ako ng excerpt tungkol sa death or love, pero nakita ko ito, and it summed up what I was feeling then.
I feel a little bit better with that.
You said nobody reads this post? Really now.
Nice posts. Parang The Road Less Travelled. Feel ko tuloy sumali sa prut prends klab.

DESIDERATA
Placidly amid the noise & haste and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly & clearly; and listen to others, even the dull & ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggresive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain & bitter; for always there will be greater & lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possesion in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity & disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatique & loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees & the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors & aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery & broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.
so ito ang famous poem na desiderata... ang ganda talaga ng message ng poem nato..

Empty wishes
To get what you desire you must make use of what you have. It sounds simple enough, and it is. Yet we too often get it backwards, expecting the reward before the effort. We get caught up in "if only" thinking. "If only" someone would give me a break, then I could really make something of myself. "If only" I had a few more hours in the day, then I could get caught up.
The "if only" wishes are just that -- empty wishes and nothing more. To turn desires into reality requires effort and commitment that is based in reality. Your "if only" wishes will not likely be magically granted. You've got to pursue your goals in spite of the less than perfect circumstances in which you find yourself.
Everyone who has ever achieved anything has faced difficult challenges. And yet look at all the great things that people just like you have accomplished. These things were not done by waiting for empty and feeble "if only" wishes to come true. They were done in spite of the challenges, in spite of the less than perfect conditions.
You can do it too. Forget about "if only." Go ahead and make it happen anyway.
wow! great thread prutas~!

Calm strength
Speak your mind. Pursue your cause. Stand your ground. Make things happen -- with calm strength. When you get tense, excited and angry, when you scream, shout and flail around you tend to make a lot of mistakes. You tend to look foolish. You live to regret your actions.
Instead, be truly strong. Nervous excitability burns out quickly and can do much damage in the process. Calm and determined strength keeps on making a positive, persistent difference until the victory is won.
It's easy to get agitated. It's easy to get angry and excited. It is more effective, though, to take a studied, thoughtful and persistent approach. Take a deep breath. Take another. You can make things happen. Rather than putting on a show, put your energy into making a difference. Calm down, be strong, and become a real and undeniable winner.
Real winners
A real winner is someone who can accept defeat graciously. A real winner does not plan to lose or aim to lose, and yet when the loss comes a real winner does not waste time on anger, complaints or blame.
A real winner finds value and learning even in defeat, then goes on to win a victory which outshines all the setbacks along the way. You can recognize a real winner by the way he acts when things don't go his way. You can spot a real winner by her positive, winning attitude even in the midst of defeat.
Even cowards can look strong when things are going in their favor. True winners show their strength regardless of the circumstances. Those who are willing to accept defeat when it comes in spite of their best efforts, are the ones who ultimately can claim true victory.
Hear what you can learn
When you hear only what you want to hear, you're not really listening. Listen to what you don't want to hear as well. That's how you'll learn. That's how you'll grow. That's how you'll get stronger.
Though you may be confident in your knowledge, no one knows it all. No one has everything figured out. Others have much to teach you. Let their words add value to your life. There are opinions not your own which are very much worth considering.
Listen to learn. Really listen and consider what others have to say. If someone were to provide a sumptuous meal to you, would you leave it half eaten? When someone is gracious enough to share their knowledge and experience with you, make the most of a great opportunity. Listen and hear not only what you thought you wanted to hear. Listen and hear what you have to learn.
A bright day
No matter how far back you've been pushed, you can always move forward. No matter how far down you've fallen, you always have the option of getting back up.
Even the greatest disappointments and most profound tragedies can be overcome. No matter how dark it becomes, the day can and will dawn brightly once again.
Whatever the situation may be, there is always the very real possibility for positive change. Even in the best of times, things can get better. Certainly in the worst of times positive change is just waiting to be realized.
Great, magnificent things are possible for you today. By this time tomorrow you can be heading decidedly toward your most treasured dreams and desires. In your heart you know that is true. Let your actions be guided by your positive possibilities and move yourself into a bright new day.
The side of the truth
Truth is one of the most effective tools available to you. When you respect, honor and abide in the truth, you put yourself on the side of strength and power.
You can try to cover it up, explain it away, run from it or rationalize against it, but in the end if you go against the truth you will lose. Lies, deceit, half truths, rationalizations and justifications must constantly be defended and maintained, and will eventually crumble. The truth remains the truth whether it is defended or not.
It often can seem convenient or expedient to deny the truth. But when you deny the truth you put yourself in a position of weakness. Making a habit of that can drain your energy, not to mention your credibility.
Put yourself on the side of the truth, though it may be inconvenient or even painful. There will surely come a time when you'll be glad you did.

Lift up others
There is nothing that compares to the joy of sincerely helping another person. Yes, there are those who will take advantage of you if you let them, and allowing them to do that does not do anyone any good. Yet around you are those who truly need your help. Around you are ways in which you can make a real, positive difference.
When you lift up another, at least two people benefit, and usually many more. Sincerely making a positive difference in the lives of others is a healthy, beneficial virus which can quickly replicate and spread far beyond your own efforts.
Can you name one single thing that would be more personally fulfilling than making a real, substantial positive difference in someone's life? It is a beautiful pursuit, and there are countless ways to do it.
Whoever you are, whatever skills or resources you possess or don't possess, there are ways for you to make a difference for others. Discover those ways, make use of the grand opportunity you have, and savor the intensity of a life well lived.
One step forward
Even when you're going slow, you're making progress. It's certainly better to move forward slowly than to not move forward at all. When you feel you're stuck, take one small step forward. Though it may not get you very far, it will alter your momentum in a major way. In an instant you'll change from someone who is not going anywhere to someone who has taken control and is moving ahead.
You can find the strength to do just one thing to move yourself forward. And that one thing is infinitely better than doing nothing. Though sometimes you'll move ahead more quickly, the important thing is to maintain a positive momentum.
If you've had a setback, choose one thing you can do right now that will get you back on track. You won't make up for all lost ground right away, yet you will keep yourself headed in a positive direction.
Take one step forward. Then take the step after that. Keep moving steadily toward the goal, and though the going will at times be slow, if you maintain your positive momentum you will most certainly get there.
Be free
Be free, and savor every little grain of existence that dances before your eyes. Beauty and joy are not what someone says they are. You know them because of the way they fulfill you. Your own doubt is your opponent's greatest strength. Carry yourself beyond it and see the sparkling universe which whirls with possibility around you.
Free yourself from the burden of your own anxiety. Whatever is, is already. Whatever you will be, is yours to create right now. Live each moment with all you have, not just with whatever has survived the worry.
This is the best day that has ever been, though some may attempt to convince you otherwise. Free yourself from their addictions of limitation. Life is yours to live. Though it is gritty, it is real. Though sadness comes, it is possible only because you care so much. Let go and live the joyful experience that is yours.
