    What exactly do you want?

The way to get passionate about your goals, is to be clear and specific about them. Just saying that you want to "be rich and see the world" is much too vague. It doesn't conjure up any images to motivate you.
Say to your self "I want to see the world." Does that do much for you? Now, try this: "I want to go hiking in the Himalayas, cruise along the coast of Alaska, walk along the beaches of St. Barts." See how much more passionate that feels.

When you are absolutely clear about what you want, you're halfway there. Anything that can be clearly defined, can be achieved. The time you take to determine exactly what you're after, and the time you spend visualizing the achievement of your goals, will pay enormous dividends.

See where you're going. See exactly where you're going, and you'll get there.

What's the worst that could happen?

There's something that you really want to do. There is a person that you really want to be, deep inside. There is a life that you really want to live.
Go for it! Start today, taking action that will bring you to where you want to be. Are there any good reasons not to? Of course there are, but does that really matter?

If you're hesitant to take action, ask yourself this: What's the worst thing that can happen? Is failure the worst thing that can happen? No. Absolutely not. Each undesired result is just one more step toward your goal. Is success the worst that can happen? No. Of course not. Success is what you're after. So what is the worst thing that can happen?

Nothing. Doing nothing is the worst thing that can happen. When you take action, you are sure to get results, and eventually you will get the results you desire. When you take no action, you are assured of getting nowhere -- a wasted life.

The only way to avoid the worst thing that can happen, is to take action. Do it now. Live the life you want to live by doing what needs to be done.

    Sadness

In every life there is some sadness. The loss of a loved one, the disappointment of a shattered dream. Things don't always go the way we want.
Sadness hurts. It is difficult. And ultimately, it is good. Because sadness can come only when you care. As painful as it is, consider the alternative. What if you did not even care? Paradoxically, the absence of pain is the ultimate pain.

We must learn to experience and appreciate our sadness, without being overwhelmed by it. And the first step is to admit it and feel it for what it is. It is a powerful form of caring. About ourselves, about others, about truth, about love, about life. Sadness shows us how very much we care, and defines for us the truly important things in life.

Even in the pain of sadness, there is meaning and hope. Out of sadness, comes a deeper sense of appreciation. The sunshine is more precious after a week of rainy days. In sadness is the strength to go forward and the opportunity to triumph over every obstacle.

    Look in the mirror.

If there's someone staring back at you who suspiciously looks like you, be happy. You're given another chance to live out your life.

That may be inspiration enough to keep living every day like your last.

    Face the day

Relax. Whatever anxiety you may have about the day ahead, let it go. You will get through this day. There will be joys and there will be difficulties. There will be pleasures and there will be challenges.
Take each moment as it comes. The energy you devote to worry and anxiety will serve no purpose, will bring you no benefits, and will probably make your situation worse. Let go of your worries and free yourself to live. Put your effort and energy where they can make a positive difference.

You can handle whatever comes along. You've made it this far and you'll do it again. Step back from yourself and look objectively at your situation. See yourself living the true adventure of life, with all its ups and downs. Consider how fortunate you are to have such an opportunity.

Today won't be perfect. Yet you have what it takes to make it great. Live it with all you can be.

    Criticism

No matter how sincere your intentions may be, no matter how positive and productive your actions may be, there will be those who find a way to criticize you. When that happens, keep in mind that the criticism is their problem, not yours.
If you wish, you can make it your problem by becoming defensive, vengeful, or offended. Such a response only gives more power to your critics. Do you really want to give those who criticize you control over your thoughts and actions? Of course not. And yet that is precisely what happens when you allow the criticism to get to you.

Learn from the criticism. It can teach you much about yourself and about your critic. Answer the criticism with a positive response if appropriate. Find value in the criticism and apply that value to your life. Don't give power to it by fighting it or letting it control you. That's exactly what your critic wants.

When you're being criticized, it means you're making a difference. Rather than allowing criticism to stop you or confound you, use it to move you positively forward.

    Believe it

What do you truly believe you can do? The difference between impossible and accomplished is largely a matter of belief. Sincere belief can make it happen.
Believe that you can do it. If it is possible for someone, it is possible for you. You have just as many hours in the day as anyone else. You are just as capable of learning as is anyone else. You can take action. You can develop skills. You can find the needed resources. You can do it.

If there is something which you have trouble believing you can accomplish, break it down into easily believable chunks. For example, if you have problems sincerely believing you can make a million dollars, break it down until it's something you can believe. Surely you'll have no trouble believing you can make a hundred dollars.

So go out an do it. Make that hundred dollars. Then just repeat it and expand on it. You're well on your way to a million. If you don't believe you can change the world, perhaps you'll find it easier to believe you can help one person. Go out and help that one person, and you're on your way to truly changing the world for the better.

Do what you can. Your belief will grow and the quality of your life will grow along with it. Believe it, a little at a time if necessary, and make it happen.

    A continuing drain

If you tell a lie you incur a debt which you can never repay. At times, it may seem convenient and expedient to misrepresent the truth, or to avoid it altogether. Yet for that expediency of the moment you will continue to pay, long into the future.
Whereas the truth can maintain itself forever with no effort, a deception can never stand on its own. Every dishonesty sets up a continuing drain on the resources of the person who engages in it. The fleeting gain of the moment is overwhelmingly eclipsed by the never-ending cost which deception initiates.

Is dishonesty worth it? No. It is terribly short-sighted, a sure sign of ignorance, gullibility, immaturity and lack of experience. Lying is for losers because it creates losers. Real winners are those who understand the overarching value and undeniable power of the truth.

    Important people

The term "important person" too often conjures up images of powerful politicians, business leaders, well-known athletes, entertainers or others whom we term as celebrities.
In reality, every person is important. Every life is important. None is more so than another. You are just as important as any familiar face on television. And so is your neighbor.

Every person has something to contribute to life. Every person is capable of making a positive difference. Each person in this world is special and just as deserving as any other person of the richness that life has to offer.

Certainly there are those who distinguish themselves, who inspire us, who lead us, who serve us, who teach us. They are not inherently better or more important that anyone else. Rather, they have taken it upon themselves to more completely fulfill their own possibilities.

Important people are all around you, filled with magnificent potential, just as you are. Recognize and respect that importance in yourself and others, act on it, and you'll fulfill those important possibilities that are your own.

    Your priorities

It is easy to see what your priorities are. Just take a look around. You have made the choices which have brought you to exactly where you are right now. Those choices have been based on your true priorities.
Though you may claim to follow other priorities, the ones which truly guide your actions are the ones which are evidenced by the life you've created for yourself. The results you get are based on the choices you make, and those choices are guided by your priorities.

Take a look around. What are your priorities? Where have they led you? Should you continue with those same priorities or is it perhaps time for a change?

The way to change your priorities is to continually remind yourself of their power. Your priorities determine the actions you take, and those actions determine the course of your life.

Look at the results your priorities have produced, and adjust those priorities as necessary to keep you moving forward toward the life you desire.

    Keep your dreams alive

On a regular basis, take time to imagine the very best that life can be. Step aside for a moment from the day-to-day concerns of life. Re-establish contact with your highest goals and most treasured dreams. Remind yourself of the beautiful possibilities that life holds for you. Renew your determination to bring them to fruition.
Spend some quality time with your dreams. They are real to the extent that you value them. To the extent that you commit to them and work for them, they will come true.

The challenges of getting through each day can often demand all your attention. Your most profound, driving desires can become buried where they never see the light of day.

So make a point of digging them out often. When you keep your dreams vibrant and alive long enough to reach them, they will indeed come true.
