Hi guys. I don't have a trusted dentist. When I was in school, my dentist would always be the school dentist. Now that I'm working, I'm trying to find a dentist whom I can trust my dental health for the rest of my life. Any recos? And would you know know a good orthodontist in UP PGH?

  2. #3182
^ An orthodontist offers braces treament. Is that what you need centerfold?

  3. #3183
I think I need both an orthodontist and a family dentist doc.

Doc good evening po. Thanks very much po.

Hi doc.

Just visit your favorite mall and choose one

@Zeantick the fee for braces is only for braces. Halimbawa kung P100,000 yung fee, braces lang yun. Hiwalay ang bayad sa x-rays, pictures and model cast. If you need fillings, extractions, crowns etc. they are not covered by Orthodontics anymore. Hiwalay din ang bayad sa kanila. We don't offer packages, kaming mga Orthodontist.

@dodingcute pakunan mo ng peri-apical x-ray yung molar and have your treatment provider assess the x-ray.

    thanks!

    Post question po..

hi doc. i had braces since february this year. i have an underbite po. tinanggal po yung 4 wisdom teeth ko plus 2 teeth sa ibaba para daw po tumayo yung mga nakahiga kong ngipin. i've noticed naman po na gumagalaw na yung ngipin unti unti but parang lumalaki po yung gap between my upper and lower teeth. ganun po ba tlaga pag early stage ng brace? sabi po kasi ng dentist ko, 1st stage daw po is to straighten yung mga sungki and it will take 3 yrs daw po bago macorrect yung bite ko. and for the last 4 mos, napalitan na po yung wire once last april and every month pnapalitan yung rubber. pls advise po. thank you very much

If the underbite is more on the big side, braces can still work but you will also need Temporary Anchorage Devices (TAD's) and/or Periodontally Assisted Osteogenic Orthodontics ( which is performed by two specialists, a Periodontist and an Orthodontist). If the underbite is really severe then Orthognathic Surgery with Surgical Orthodontics are needed ( usually performed by two specialists, an Orthodontist and an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, though at times a third specialist, a Prosthodontist, may be needed for fabricating the Surgical Splint). The more extra procedures needed, the more you will spend.

For borderline cases where the underbite is not so much, there is a technique called Multi-loop Edgewise Archwire Technique (MEAW) that could work. When it works, it works well. Case selection is important though, as MEAW cannot take the place of Orthognathic surgery. This means the patient will have to be evaluated thoroughly before a determination can be made as to which procedure or which combination of procedures are needed.
    Hi Doc,

It's been a while since your reply here. Thank you.
All my hopes to what you said about my underbite. That, maybe because my upper palate looks narrow. My ortho told me to wear this expander first for a month so i could get used to the sensation then brace will follow along. It will cost 60k, their Class III fee, I was thinking that i am around somewhere at the middle.

Ill have my braces sometime next month and only one molar tooth remains. It something that definitely must be removed because it looks normal from front side but papudpud to the back(almost same level na sa gums nya, worst is bulok sya :C ). The doctor who did my wisdom tooth told me it's another surgery, kasi daw po wala ng kakapitan (kahit mejo nauuga ko sya slightly using my fingers.

Can braces also move your lower Jaw sideways. The gaping line between my upper center teeth is above the middle of my bottom center tooth(right). I may look underbite in one side also because of this.

  13. #3193
^ Zeantik moving molars is not impossible. What is needed though is sufficient thickness of bone to accomodate the molar. It is impossible for me to examine you over the internet.

^ one-shot for follow-up questions please post them in the Impacted Wisdom teeth thread, I will answer them there. You can eat ice cream after the wisdom tooth removal. Try to eat on the side that was not operated on.

^eastsea13 unfortunately it is impossible for me to examine you over the internet. Yes, if teeth were removed you'll probably have spaces now. Those spaces will be closed eventually.

^iampurplemay please repost your question at the Taking Care of my teeth thread or the Dental veneers thread and I'll gladly answer them there.

^ darrylz braces will move your teeth and correct your teeth but will have little to no effect on your jaws. An orthodontist usually charges P100,000 or more for something as difficult as your case.

^menlaer I don't accept patients from Pex. I don't mind referrring patients to other dentists though. Where in the Philippines would you like to be treated? Even the general area will suffice. Would you be needing braces treatment (asking because this is a thread about braces) ? Please send me a private message and I'll reply accordingly.

  14. #3194
Hi! I'm new to this thread. I'm 23 at nagbabalak ako magpakabit ng braces. The problem is I'm very ignorant on what to watch out regarding this extensive procedure. For starters would you guys be so kind to comment some of these questions and concerns:

    1. Orthodontics or Dentist? I've asked sa mga dentist and they are charging me 40k - 60k. Sa Progressive Orthodontist naman sa megamall ang initial estimation is 173k which is wow!

    2. Masyado malaki and overbite ng lower and upper teeth ko I think di lang brace kailangan ko to correct my jaw alignment. Is there an alternative sa headgear? I'm working for almost a year na kasi so jahe naman kung magsusuot ako nun

Any tips or advise will be much appreciated hehe

@sic001 Orthodontist, that's my answer. I wasn't there so I don't know exactly why you were quoted that price, exactly what type of braces were you inquiring about ( there is more than 1 type).

For the overbite, in lieu of a headgear, adjuncts such as Temporary Anchorage devices can be used. You will need to be evaluated properly, an initial assessment won't be sufficient. Also, the fee for braces is only for braces. If you need fillings, have infected teeth, etc. the cost for treating those are not included in your braces fee, because the fee for braces is only for braces.

@onax18 you will need to be evaluated first. If the underbite is not that big it can be corrected with braces alone. If the underbite is really big then braces won't be enough , additional treatments may be needed.

  17. #3197
Hi Doc...Just in case for example natapos mo nang bayaran yung cost of brace within a year, sa succeeding months ba may babayaran pa ba usually?

  18. #3198
^ Once fully paid, you will only usualy pay if your braces get damaged and need to be replaced or when your braces need to be removed. I must stress this is only for braces, as the fee for braces is only for braces.

Usually a patient undergoing braces treatment will also need other procedures in order to help maintain the health of the teeth. These other procedures are not covered by your payment for the braces. You pay for them separately. Sometimes they are even done in another clinic, or perhaps in the same clinic but by a different dentist.
