[MERGED] Need A Good Orthodontist (All about Braces)

Hello doc i had braces before, kaso parang hindi siya natapos tapos nedyo proninent yung upper teeth ko. Gusto ko saa ipapaloob meron bang alternative way other than braces? Masyado kasi mahal nakapagpabrace na kasi ako dati.

Yung teeth ko ok na when it comes to spacing the only problem is yung paharap yung tubo. Thank you

hi doc! good day. i have a case of bimaxillary protrusion, overbite na parang nakalabas yung mga front teeth. i've been in braces for almost 2 years already, and i can already see significant improvements. my upper teeth are straight, aligned although overbite pa din, my smile is nice since wide and full.

however, during my last few appointments, my dentist told me that he needs to extract my upper first bicuspids, since he needs space to retract my front teeth. dati rati, he keeps telling me na he will move my teeth 1 by 1 para pumasok yung teeth ko, and now, he changes his stance and needs to pull my bicuspids na daw kasi he can't create the amount of space needed (parang he needs 4mm, 2mm lang un nacreate after 2 yrs). now, i already had my first bicuspids removed and i look hideous! bungi tignan and worst than before. then i researched online and there were some that say this will make my smile look narrow and i shouldnt have agreed. ok lang po ba yung ginawa sakin na binunutan ako ng 2 first bicuspids para bumilis *** treatment at magkaroon ng more space to retract my upper teeth and lip? i'm afraid of the final result na nababasa ko na magiging narrow daw yung smile ko, hindi na full unlike dati and my nose will be highlighted. can this be avoided? what can i tell my ortho about this? i admit i wasnt fully aware of the pros and cons and yet um-oo na ko sa suggestion nya because i trust my ortho but i'm now having second thoughts, especially sa hitsura ko ngayon without my bicuspids na sobrang weird. all in all ive had 4 wisdom teeth, 2 supernumerary teeth and now my 2 first bucuspids removed. i only have 12 teeth left in my upper jaw! thanks for any input

hi doc ! i got problem on my denture ! pag ka tapos ko naligo nag tooth brush tapos soot ko *** denture kasi pupunta ako sa gym bigla natangal na crack *** 1 piece tooth sa harapan part po sya ng denture .. pde ba i repair to sa dentist or i should buy one? and if may repair nmn po magkano po? davao area po pls help. PS: natapon ko po *** 1 piece tooth na nasira sa denture >_<

If the spaces will be closed completely you won't look hideous. With bimaxillary protrusion if you do not reduce the number of teeth, chances are the teeth will protrude forward even more. This will make you look less attractive. To help maintain the width of your smile your treatment provider can maintain or improve what is termed your arch form so you do not develop what appears to be a narrower smile. It's not always easy though (speaking from experience) and depends on whether the patient has a wide or narrow smile even before the braces were placed.

You both will need to be examined, preferably by a TMJ specialist. Unfortunately I don't know of any TMJ specialists in Pampanga. Perhaps you can ask around, your friends and relatives, for referrals. Or you can search for an ENT doctor. Clicking per se does not necessarily mean something is terribly wrong. Clicking means a single sound, usually a single popping sound, when opening or closing your jaws. If you hear multiple sounds iba na yun, or if you feel pain when you eat or talk that is indicative of something wrong.

doc smile ask ko lang po gano katagal bago masanay ang ngipin sa rubber yun nilalagay sa hook... sa case ko kasi pag inaadjust brace ko usual 1-3 days okay na yun teeth ko. ngayon im putting 2 rubber on my upper teeth every 2days naka naka wire na chain yun teeth ko with rubber tapos naka rubber both side patalikod. im just wondering bakit parang antagal ko masanay sa rubber and yun pain nang teeth ko minsan parang wala lang minsan parang bagong adjust... thanks in advance sa reply...

Hi Doc I had braces before kasi I have gaps on my teeth kaya lang nag relapse teeth ko fault ko rin for not wearing my retainers unfortunately wala na yung Ortho ko before. I consulted another ortho kaya lang he never required for an x-ray kasi sabi niya hindi ko na daw kailangan yun since mild lang naman case ko he will just be getting a mold of my teeth and mailalagay na niya braces ko. I was just wondering if tama ba yung sinabi niya hindi ko na kailangan ng x-ray or do I need to look for another ortho... thanks in advance doc

Bakit every 2 days? Pakitanong mo yan sa gumagamot sa iyo kasi parang hindi kayo nagkaintindihan.

Yes, kailangan ng Panoramic X-ray, Cephalometric X-ray, Intra-oral and Extra-oral Pictures and Model Cast. Kung walang x-rays, paano niya malalaman kung papaano ikakabit ang braces sa mga ipin mo? Hanap ka na lang ng ibang gagamot sa iyo.

Hirap niyan, you might need to permanently transfer to another treatment provider. Hindi pwedeng iba-ibang tao ang nag-aadjust ng braces mo, baka kung anong trahedya ang mangyari sa mga ipin mo.

The mouth needs to be immaculately clean before braces are placed. Hindi pwedeng may mga basag na ipin o mayroong active infection sa bibig.

Hi. Sadly none. Punta ka sa National University of Singapore if you want quality Orthodontic treatment. Kung gusto mo private clinic pwede kang magtanong sa NUS if they can recommend someone, who'll probably be a member of the Association of Orthodontists, Singapore ( the Singapore counterpart of the Association of Philippine Orthodontists).

doc smile hindi ko pa naclaclarify sa orthodentis ko yun tungkol sa rubber baka kasi iba yun dating nang pag tatanong ko sa next appointment ko na lang iclaclarify... anyway do anu po ba prob dun kung 2 days nga? btw wala na pala yun pain mga 9 days kasi bago mawala yun discomfort kaya medyo napaparanoid ako... hehe thank you in advance ulit...

@lestherrific baka ang kailangan sa iyo ay transfer to another treatment provider. Transfer means you won't be going back to your original treatment provider and instead be treated by a new one. All your records you have to retrieve from your original treatment provider and bring with you to your new one. Ang problema diyan ay yung fees. If you transfer , what you paid previously will not be transferred ... meaning you will pay again ( ~ P100,000 or more ).

@yuuri_cute yun bang elastic ay ikaw mismo ang naglalagay sa ipin mo? Wala nga palang Orthodentist - sakit sa tenga - it's Orthodontist.

Good afternoon po. Doc
Bali kanina po nagpa cleaning po ako tapos naitanong ko na din po yung tungkol sa brace. Binunot po kasi yung 2nd molar ko nung dentista sa probinsya pero hindi na po nya nilagyan ng pustiso, kaya prang medyo 1 seat apart ngipin ko sa lower. Nag ask po ulit ako dun sa isang dentista na malapit sa clinic nya, tapos x2 po yung charge nya. Kasi na i explain po nya yung difference ng isang Orthodontist sa mga naglalagay lang daw po ng word na Orthodontics, sa kanilang calling card. Medyo overbite po yung lower jaw ko ng mga 1 cm. ni recommend po nya na up and down daw po para ma fix. Ang tanong ko po, kasi dun po sa first dentist, ang ni recommend po nya is panoramic x ray para makita daw po kung bakit nawawala yung isang permanent tooth ko. May possibility po ba na milk tooth yung binunot ng dentista sa probinsya. Kasi may sinasabi po syang gusto nya i confirm kung congenital absence yta of tooth yung case ko. Nung 2nd dentist naman po, na kita ko po yung mga diploma nya at yung UP Orthodontic certificate po nya. Kaso nagpa assess lang ako at sinabi na nya yung price. Itatanong ko lang po kung kasama po ba sa Brace package yung pinapagawa sa akin nung 1st dentist? Kasi may sinabi po sya na need ko din daw magpa x ray at yung parang model ng teeth bago magpabrace? Doc follow up question po.
Diba po kulang ng isang ngipin yung lower right side 1st molar? (Nag start po ako ng count dun sa walang ngipin, bali Toothless, Molar 2, Molar 3 (last tooth)

Ang sabi po nung unang dentist, na wala po sa list ng Orthodontist, ang suggestion daw po nya is extract yung other 3 molars po, ( 2 up, 1 lower left) para daw po maging pantay. E natakot po ako so tinanung ko po kung pwede ba lagyan nalang ng pustiso, sabi niya pwede din naman daw.

Nung sa 2nd dentist na po, nakita ko po name nya sa website ng orthodontist, ang sabi po niya is i try daw nya hatakin (? i close po yung term na ginamit nya) through brace daw po para magdikit yung space na yun. Naisip ko lang po, paano nya hahatakin e parang wala na pong butas yung gums ko dun? Or kung hindi daw po kaya sabi po nya is lalagyan nalang daw ng pustiso.

Parang nakakatakot naman po yung assessment nung orthodontist, pero hindi ko din po masisisi kasi nag pa assess lang po ako, while dun sa unang dentist e nag pa clean muna ako bago ako nag inquire, siguro after 6 months i clarify ko sa kanya kung ano talaga suggestion nya.

Pero pwede po ba yung suggestion nung orthodontist? (nakita ko po dun sa nakapaskil UP sya nag train kaya parang confident po ako magbayad ng x2 price) Possible po bang mahatak yung 2 last molars sa lower right para ma close yung space? Thanks po.
