@ Awasha_Nadine: i sent you a pm already. looking forward to your reply.

@ the tenth: you're book sounds historical. i think if it's written well it has a lot of potential. try to find someone who can read your work and give you suggestions to improve it. i think if you love writing then you wouldn't mind if you didn't make money for it right. if you did make money it would be just a bonus. anyway, i think there's nothing to loose. go for it!

yeah, kinda historical. I have a hard time writing it, though. Its difficult to get the history right, eh. But I'm trying really hard. Do you have any tips in making a book? have you finished one yet?

  3. #43
i'm just like you. i'd love to write a book but it's difficult for me to finish what i've started. if you want to meet more writer types, visit www.nanowrimo.org they have a forum too. if you love writing, you'll enjoy reading the forum. you can ask advice and you can give advice. best of luck!

I got my first book published, but in South Korea. It was more luck than anything else. I am in a particular field (debating) for which I am well known in the region, and this university there wanted to publish a textbook for its students, and for other students in Korea. So I got the opportunity to co-write the book with a number of other experts, and voila! We have our book.

None of this would have been possible without my contact in the inside, who promoted the concept of the book to the publishers, and who basically kept pushing the authors to get their work done on time. I'm lucky in the sense that my first book wasn't tough to promote at all.

I plan on writing more books, and hope to get them published in other countries, such as the Philippines and Thailand, but I realize that, in the future, I won't have as easy a time as I had in South Korea. Luckily, however, I will at least have my previously published book as a "sample" to show to prospective publishers.

I finally found the thread that I'm looking for. Hey, I'm done with my tagalog 60 page horror-suspense-thriller story. I'm now looking for a publisher, I already talked to Anvil and I'll go there maybe next week to submit my manuscript.

For those who are looking for a publishing company you can call them at 6378840, 6711899, or 6711888. They're located in Kapitolyo, Pasig.

    Goodluck to us!

    Luge!

Unfortunately they said I have to wait until January 2006 for them to review my work because they're following a process and they said they're only accepting story to be reviewed by their proofreaders from January-feb.

So if you know a publisher who can help me, just please send me the details.

    thanks!

I wish I can publish the novel I'm writing right now. Tom Clancy type daw siya, sabi ng friends ko. Ipa-float ko kaya sa market? Hmmm...

mukhang okay naman, although with the basic package, you're still in charge of the nuts and bolts of editing your work (including layouts)

Screenwriting is a lot different than writing novels. First, there's a format you *must* follow. (A film should generally have three acts, with acts 1 and 3 at 30 minutes each and act 2 with 60; there should be a conflict sequence on page 60; the hero "loses" on page 90; etc., etc.) You'll also (if you're aiming to become a *good* screenwriter) need to work on depicting things visually as you are (obviously) writing for a visual medium. You're also going to have to deal with a page limit, rule of thumb being one page of the script = one minute on film.

If you intend to write for film, I'd recommend Ricky Lee's "Trip to Quiapo". It's geared toward the pinoy market, has an easily understandable "conversational" format, and is chock-full of entertainment and information that it's likely to keep your mind OFF writing for a while when you crack it open.

I also want my book to be published. I've submitted a copy to a publishing house in Pioneer but haven't received any feedback from them. Oh well, just need to look for other publishers.
