    Norton Antivirus

My NORTON subscription is going to expire this December. Lets just say my copy is anti-Revilla.

Is there a way for me to avoid this subscription termination w/o buying a new CD. Perhaps uninstalling and reinstalling? So they would think my product is new and I have a fresh one year. Is it gonna work? Or is there other ways? O talagang bagong CD na yan? Comments naman!

Assuming that you're using a 2002 Edition, I'd strongly suggest that you get a 2003 Pro Edition for it's updated anti-virus protection. Even if you'd change dates, possibility of risking infection is high these pass few days. Subscription termination only leads to halting all updates thus increasing more risk (other than the worms). Uninstalling and reinstalling won't do any good. For one, you'd still have to connect and get the updates of said timeline or list of virus listed (only) on the 2002 Edition. Not that I'd discourage you on the 2002, I'd rather bank on to encourage you to protect your system.

I have the 2003 version already. I am more interested in finding a way to extend my subscription w/o buying the 2004 edition if there is ever one. December pa naman yung expiration, but now pa lang napreprepare na ako

Here's a little tip: You can just roll back your system date to a time within the "valid" subscription period and do the updates just the same. I know it's a hassle turning back and resetting your system clock each time you update, but hey, if you don't want to buy a new subscription (which costs about $10 last time I checked), then this is the way to go.

Now if you analyze the above tip further, you'll find out something about how subscriptions are stored by Symantec...

Note that program updates (using LiveUpdate) will work REGARDLESS whether your Virus Definitions Subscription has expired or not. For the virus defiintions, download using Intelligent Updater and THEN do the above tip.

Is there a less hassle way then always adjusting the clock. Kasi dito sa amin P50 lang isang CD. Might as well buy the new Norton. Will uninstall work??

Uninstall could work, depending on the number of products you included when you first installed NSW 2002/03. In order to "reset" your subscription through uninstalling, you would have to remove not only the folders and files from your hard drive, you may also need to delete some registry entires as well. Check out Symantec's sit for instructions on how to completely remove an installation of NSW from a PC for a "fresh" installation of a new version.

I have REGCLEAN. So maybe if I removed the registry entries of Norton then it might not be able to detect my subscription is that right??

Running REGCLEAN may still not be enough. What you should do is to OBLITERATE ANY INDICATION that NSW had been previously installed into your computer. That way, when you DO "reinstall", it will look to the installer like this is your first time to install NSW (or any other Symantec product). This translates to you getting a new 1-year subscription.

    anti-virus

if i were you, i'd look for drivers for boards na pang socket 370. *** jetway and gigabyte boards come with drivers na may anti-virus that you can use for 1 year. tanong ka sa mga kaibigan mong alam lang sa PC eh gumamit. o yan, sobrang tipid ka na, legal pa ang gamit mong anti-virus, sure na maguupdate un lagi.
