dapat mandate nila at least 5-10 opm songs per hour...that's just approximately 15-30 minutes...
nabalita na 'to dati a... na parang inorder na dapat nagpapatugtog ng filipino music may iba nag-agree tapos may iba hindi payag. reason nila was that "ok na naman e, ba't pa babaguhin?" or something to that effect.

may nabasa akong thread dito sa forum na 'to... something about payola? that for a radio station to play a song dapat may payola. ganon ba talaga yun?

tsaka nagtataka talaga ako kung bakit hindi nagpapatugtog ng filipino songs ang ibang radio stations (like magic, rx, lsfm) nagpapatugtog sila, ok pero ang kokonti ng selections ng music... kaya paulit-ulit lang. bakit ganun? i'd like to hear the side of radio stations pls.

sana magkaro'n ng radio station that will play filipino music lang talaga, from asin to zsazsa padilla.

it's just too bad that Filipino artists do not receive the right kind of treatment they deserve especially in the international music industry.

there are just far too many issues that counteract our claim to fame. first is the proverbial issue on racism (discrimination to color). second is exposure. third is quality. fourth is local discrimination (O.A. na talent fees, preference on looks and connections and all that politics).

i think first, we should eliminate the fourth issue mentioned above. we have thousands, if not millions, of great musicians and artists both discovered and undiscovered. all they need is support sans the politics and hypocrisy (tama ba?, ****, baka mali grammar ko, nahihilo na kasi ako e)

    after this, everything will follow

what's wrong with our ethnic music? magagawa natin maipakalat ang tunog pinoy kung maniniwala tayo na di ito subordinate sa foreign music. masyado lang kasi tayong colonized.

There's nothing wrong with ethnic music. I just don't see it breaking out anytime soon in a global market outside the "world music" category. In other words, Joey Ayala is brilliant (I have all his albums) but he won't eclipse Sting (I also have his albums) anytime soon. Pinikpikan is good but they won't be the next Linkin Park.

I don't think it's "subordinate" but we do need to dilute it for foreign audiences if we want to hit the world market and still be "original."

But (and I'm sure this will happen) if someone did find a nice formula combining MTV music and our own ethnic stuff, it'll still be branded an unoriginal. (Ay parang si Anggun/Enya, Ay parang Asian Dub Foundation)

I think naman madaming magagaling talaga na local artists, it's just that hindi sila namamarket ng maayos.

If you don't have a drop of Caucasian blood or a foreign-sounding last name (Sam Milby, Anne Curtis & Solenn Heusaff, we're talking about you) just FUGGHEDABOUDIT and go back to your day job as a kargador or labandera. Go stuff your music dreams in a shoebox and let it go.
