Went to Tagaytay for the first time just this past weekend, pero daytrip lang.
We took a bus from Edsa/Taft - Erjohn and Almark bus - PhP 90, aircon bus bound for Nasugbu, via Cavite and Tagaytay.
Bus station is at the back of Mcdo/Chowking/Hotel Sogo on Edsa, just beside the MRT Taft Station. May van rin bound for Balayan, Batangas, via Tagaytay - they are at the basement parking of Metropoint Mall (opposite side). But when we were there, there was a long line of people, so we decided to try a bus.
We asked the bus to drop us off at RSM, and binaba kami sa Magallanes (?) Magkakatabi lang dun ang Starbucks/Dencio's/Leslie's/Carlo's Pizza/Antonio's Grill (?) etc.. Hiwalay ang RSM, it was a few meters down the road, we didn't see it nung bumaba kami.
So for lunch we went straight to Leslie's. We wanted to try their huuuuge bulalo, but it was PhP 500/each and unfortunately they weren't willing to accommodate our request for solo servings sana.
All in all, I wasn't too impressed with the food at Leslie's. Large servings though, and yung order namin was actually good for 3, maybe even 4 people. Good service though, lots of wait staff, and over-looking Taal. But food wasn't very memorable. Lunch for 2 came to just under PhP 1300 including 10% service charge.
From Leslie's, we hopped on a tricycle to the Bag of Beans - P70 - and I would say the Bag of Beans is one reason why I know I will be back to Tagaytay. I wasn't too excited about coming here, since I'm not a big fan of coffee and coffee shops, and kakatapos lang namin mag-lunch, hehe. But my gf insisted we go, and I'm glad we did.
Sayang lang, busog na talaga kami when we were here - the cheesecake is the best I have tasted (!). We weren't able to try Alamid Coffee, as they apparently don't serve them anymore, but they sell them at their store upstairs. (Pero ubos na nung andun kami)
Great ambiance, and I will definitely be back here first chance I get. Our bill came to PhP 500. 1 slice cheesecake + apple pie + drinks.
After Bag of Beans, we decided to go the the People's Park in the Sky. 'Di alam ng mga tao dun how to get to the Park from there, so they suggested we hop on a bus or jeep back to Leslie's.
So we took a jeep, back to Leslie's. Standard fare. Tapos nagtanong ulit kami. Sabi ng police, punta daw kami Olivarez terminal, tapos may jeep daw dun bound for People's Park. Nag-tanong rin kami sa tricycle, sabi P200 straight to People's Park na daw, we declined.
So we took a jeep bound for Olivarez Terminal, and pagkababa, na-ambush kami ng mga tricycle, lol. So nag-tryk nalang kami, P100 straight to the gate daw. Malayo rin pala, so P120 na binigay ko sa driver. On the way, may nadaanan kami, yung Picnic Grove yata yun? May naka-advertise na cable car?
P15 lang ang entrance sa People's Park. The place has definitely seen better days, but it supposedly boasts of the best views of Taal. Buti nalang we were there during sunset, golden hour if you have a camera with you.
From People's Park, we took a tryk back to Olivarez, P100 ulit, but again, I gave the driver P120, since malayo naman. Pasalubong from Collette's (sa tabi lang ng Petron (?) near the circle.
Then we took a bus bound for Cubao, via Cavite and daan. P80 yung bus, and we were back in Makati within 2 hours. (May mga van rin sa Olivarez terminal bound for Alabang, pero sabi nila 7PM lang daw ang last trip nila)
We were in Tagaytay for less than 9 hours lang, and excluding pasalubong, we spent around PhP 3K.
Here are some pix, first shot is of Leslie's, tapos apple pie at the Bag of Beans, and the rest are from the People's Park in the Sky.
