    Post Maroon5

    umm yeah.. where to start..
so Maroon5 is an up and coming band whose sound seamlessly infuses elements of R&B and funk with rock. Their album Songs About Jane was produced by Matt Wallace (who also worked with Train and 3EB).

The band is fronted by Adam Levine (who is hot like whoa), with Jesse Carmichael on keyboards, James Valentine on guitar, Mickey Madden on bass, and Ryan Dusick on drums.

Visit their website at www.maroon5.com if you wanna more more about the band, see their video, dL some songs and other fun stuff.

Recommended songs from their record are: Sunday Morning, This Love, Shiver, She Will Be Loved.... their songs are all over Kazaa if you're interested.

Dunno if their album's out here yet, but last time i checked.. not a trace.. not sure if they're getting any airplay here either but either way anyone who's looking for something fresh and different should definitely check them out... their sound is a welcome change from all those singer/songwriters popping up everywhere (not to put The Mayer, Mraz, and Ari down but.. well you know what i mean )

Reena (there ha!), Pj, Hazel, everyone..don't let me down you postwhores..
sidenote: the video of them jamming with john on this love is gonna be up on the site anytime soon.. can't wait

    Smile Thanks Denise!!!!

Best Buy is currently selling Songs about Jane for $9.99...I'm actually saving this $20 to my name to buy both Ari Hest CDs but decided to just buy one of them instead and buy SAJ with the remaining $10..today!!

I've download Sunday Morning and Harder to Breathe..and it is such a breath of fresh air from this singer/songer writer guitar-driven artists (but I still like them don't get me wrong)..

but yeah, their sound is more soulful..more funky...but you could still hear the rock and roll influence .... actually, I swear I hear a little MJ in HTB....

well so far these two songs that I've heard are .... for a lack of a better word - great!! Somewhat susceptible to excessive radio airplay if it does hit our airwaves over there..but heck, a hit is a hit ...but I am so loving Sunday Morning!! It's on repeat..

...wait Denise...John? Like in John Mayer? Did they do a show together or something?

but anyway, will buy the album today at Best buy and Will give you my review soon!

yep John Mayer. they opened for him several times in fairfax, philly and CT..check out the RJ. John jammed with them on This Love and James (the guitarist) played in Neon.

Denise.....ok I just bought the album...but wait..I have to research what show that was, hopefully it's in circulation because I want to get my copy!!!!!

..but anyway, I'm currently listening to it...I am soooo disappointed with Sunday Morning..what did they do with it? It's so overproduced on this one....seriously, the one that I've downloaded had more piano action ....

it's too soon to give an album review because I'm still geting used to the song but yeah, I like the other SM version better than the album one, I like Must Get Out, Tangled, She Will Be loved..so far...but will be back..

    so far it's really good!!

I can't wait for that video either!!!

ha!! I'm lovin' this album...I hear alot of RnB, funk and soul influence..... some songs remind me of Michael Jackson songs (back in the days whn he was a cool and good looking) and Outkast songs (which isn't a bad thing)...

Harder to Breathe..it's a great song and I could almost hear it in justified (yet another great album, from what I've heard)...honestly, it's a song that I would think Timberlake would sing hehehehe

the label on the cd read - Neo-rock..neo-funk..hmm....I see...I guess it's what they call their music?

    I give it 4 stars!!! It's better than rocket..but then again, I shouldn't compare..

I can't believe John jammed with in This Love..this song is starting to grow on me really fast!!!

and Denise, you are so right about Adam Levigne.... the window next to my PC is getting fogged up...so hot in herrre!!!

    I'm lifting you up
    I'm letting you down
    I'm dancing til dawn
    I'm fooling around
    I'm not giving up
    I'm making your love
the city is crazy and we must get out...

i'm so proud of how far we've come!

    ok, nuf said...

i'm checking out the maroon 5 website. and honestly, it's just taking ages to download the 2 mp3s there. i can't find their cd anywhere here! so to the person who posted about the cd, do tell! i'm rarin' for a listen!

hehehe... Kara's Flowers... buti na lang pinalitan nila name nila! and, no sh!t, the frontman looks a lot like eric mccormack... or is it just me?

uh oh, roots in the tradition of weezer... i HOPE this is not a guster sound-a-like. i put too much confidence in the musical tastes of you people so i hope this is NOT another guster.

and another uh-oh... their record label is under bmg. we all KNOW bmg doesn't deliver. check out dmb's busted stuff for chrissakes!!!

okay, i will post again after i heard these 2 maroon 5 songs aite?

oh Kara's Flowers ....Grace, how were they when they were KF?

and was there anothe Maroon5 thread before this? ...ooops, hey we've got an excuse , disabled search function.

ok now, I've been listening to SAJ for a couple of days now and I really like the melodies, and after that, I paid attention to the lyrics. The album is called Songs about Jane, and according to the official site, Jane is I think, Levine's ex-gf..

and so, I read the lyrics and it's very tragic, but the sincerity shows through most , if not all of them. I certainly don't want to recommend it to somebody who's nursing a broken heart or something, I don't know that's just me ....the songs interconnect ...

but really, the album is bitter sweet, emotion-wise, backed with very soulful...groovy...melodies

..and no Hazel, these guys are not another Guster...no no no.....

I am really liking The Sun... especially this part

    I cannot forget
    refuse to regret
I'm so glad I've met you

and Sunday Morning remains my favorite, but the non-album version ..

it also has the lyrics sheet

well anyway, I love all of the songs, but the following stands out for me:

    This Love
    Tangled
    She will be loved
    Sunday Morning
    Must get Out
    The Sun
    Sweetest goodbye
Harder to breathe (angst and neo-rock)

i really liked them! very 60s rock. their hairstyles were beatlesque, but the sound is more like Zombies. or for the more current ones, think Nyack or Weezer.

from the two tracks i heard in the Maroon 5 site, they sound very different now.

    I love this song!

    Sunday Morning

    Sunday morning rain is falling
Steal some covers share some skin
Clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable
You twist to fit the mold that I am in
But things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do
And I would gladly hit the road get up and go if I knew
That someday it would bring me back to you
That someday it would bring me back to you

That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
    Driving slow on Sunday morning
And I never want to leave

    Fingers trace your every outline
Paint a picture with my hands
Back and forth we sway like branches in a storm
Change the weather still together when it ends

That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
    Driving slow on Sunday morning
And I never want to leave

But things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do
Sunday morning rain is falling and I'm calling out to you
Singing someday it'll bring me back to you
Find a way to bring myself home to you

    And you may not know
That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
    Driving slow…

I figured, it still wouldn't get sold out, I still haven't bought tickets for their Slims SF show. Fun and cheap..that's what it's all about!!!!

because I still remember the time when I got a certain PExer's panties in a wad for posting pictures...

    from www.maroon5.com

    okay, they need a tan..

but, Levine looks like a young Pat Monahan in this picture (the charismatic frontman of another one of my favorite bands, Train)

and I know it's natural and it happens to all of us, but pit stains are gross.

Maroon 5 will be performing on "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn" on CBS this Monday night, check your local listings for times!

Kilborn!!!! I don't like that self-absorbed tool for a talk show host but with Maroon5, I'll make an exception.

this love has taken it's toll on me

    hi PJ

...you know, those songs are good, but those are not their best songs imo. Try to download at least one of the following:

    This Love
    Sunday Morning
    The Sun
    Must Get Out

....yeah, I could see why the lyrics for SM would remind you of YBIAW

pero to start you off, I highly recommend Sunday Morning, hope that you would download the non-album version, because that is such a great song. I don't understand why they have to revise it, the album one is ok but incoparable to the non-album version. The non-album had more piano and more saxophone(?) in it, yup.

I love this song part 2 hehehehe

    The Sun

    The Sun

    After school
    Walking home
    Fresh dirt under my fingernails
And I can smell hot asphalt
Cars screech to a halt to let me pass
    And I cannot remember
What life was like through photographs
Trying to recreate images life gives us from our past

And sometimes it's a sad song

    But I cannot forget
    Refuse to regret
    So glad I met you
    Take my breath away
    Make everyday
Worth all of the pain that I have
    Gone through
    And mama I've been cryin'
Cause things ain't how they used to be
She said the battles almost won
And we're only several miles from the sun

    Moving on down the street
    I see people I won't ever meet
Think of her, take a breath
Feel the beat in the rhythm of my steps
And sometimes it's a sad song

    But I cannot forget
    Refuse to regret
    So glad I met you
    Take my breath away
    Make everyday
Worth all of the pain that I have
    Gone through
    And mama I've been cryin'
Cause things ain't how they used to be
She said the battles almost won
And we're only several miles from the sun

    The rhythm of her conversation
    The perfection of her creation
The sex she slipped into my coffee
The way she felt when she first saw me
Hate to love and love to hate her
    Like a broken record player
Back and forth and here and gone
And on and on and on and on
