    i think the showers are cool. it's not a flaw. it's a feature. didn't u get it?

ay pahabol pa... yung membership fee, racket lang yan ng mga marketing staff! i paid 1,000 got a free bag, two towels, a shirt (which i still haven't gotten), a water bottle, a headset, 3 complimentary gym passes + 5 25-minute massages (which i wasn't able to use)
basta, i-sweet talk mo dapat yung marketing - pa hard to get ka and they'll bombard you with freebies just to get you to join! ewan ko sayo masyado kang mareklamo sana di ka nalang nagpauto kung alam mong raket lang pala

rwchick i already terminated my membership due to the deteriorating service, bad trainers, poor aerobics classes, etc... i also joined last may 2002 but ngayong jan lang ako nagterminate.

the last straw was during the holiday season last dec., when we were supposed to be catching up on fitness, fitnessfirst had the gall to open their centers late---9am ba yon, instead of the usual 7am, and close their centers early (sometimes 5pm, sometimes 2 pm). anobayan...!!! and i had to pay them 1850 a month for this kind of service? tapos iyong fitness trainers pa nila---wala ring alam at nagpapasahan ng trabaho. i was just fed up with everything kaya layas na ako dun.

I have just re-joined Fitness First (albeit in Sydney and not Manila). I have a Global Passport Membership which means that, wherever I go in the world, I can visit any Fitness First branch. It's great, particularly as I like to workout when I am in the Philippines.

My favourite classes - spinning (great cardio and lower body workout), circuit, boxing and atheletic power. If they are available in the Manila based branches I recommend them!

the one in makati is a meat market. and it smells. wish gold's gym was more affordable. it's helluva lot better. but then again, body pump rocks and starf*cking at the ABS branch totally rules. hehehe.

    Fitness First Greenhills

I'm thinking of joining Fitness First na rin. Price is kinda expensive though. Anyone knows how I can get discounts? How much kaya if yung corporate membership?

I used to be a member of 24-Hour Fitness in the states and am interested in a gym membership at FF. My old gym had free aero, x-training, pilates and taebo/dancing and a steam room, what amenities does FF have?

i go to the libis branch... near my place, and since ill be taking graduate studies, and not working, i dont need the passport option since the other branches are farther. i go 3-4x a week, at around 2pm... para wala masyadong tao. i like it when i can have any machine... walang antayan, away... hhehhehe. but all the classes are earlier or later nga lang.

i joined just this may (fitness greenhills), and all i can say that the experience is great. although i have a couple of rants...

mahal ang monthly ko (passport, 2100php), i've heard from a friend that greenhills has the most expensive fees from among the fitness gyms.

walang saging, di pa fully "normal" ang operations ng greenhills

meron silang mga "maangas" na instructor

other than that, masaya sa fitness... although medyo snobbish ako kse i go to the gym to concentrate on working out. visited 4 of the 5 gyms (makati nalang ang hindi), i think the eastwood gym is the most spacious. pero madaming pretty girls sa abs gym.

Another member here. I go to ABS-CBN and am satisfied with their services and facilities naman although they tend to run out of tissues, or toilets go out of order once in a while. I love Body Balance under Eric. Vivian Zapanta is ok rin naman. I also love attending their Step, Hi-Lo, Cardiobox and Cardiofunk classes. Trainers are really friendly. And, yeah as Trinity mentioned, there do are a lot of artistas who go to the ABS-CBN branch.

I don't think they charge higher in GH. Monthly fee's the same for all branches, 1950 for home and 2100 for passport although those who joined before got discounts. My joining fee came down to 750 from the 1500 they first offered me. TRUE *** sinabi ng others that racket lang yun ng mga membership consultants. I was able to go inside their office and saw that they get around 80-100 pesos commission per person who joins.

Everybody gets a free gift: gym bag, towels, guestpasses, discounts on massage services and personal training no matter how much your joining fee is.

Just like s_abella, I've already visited 4 out of the 5 Fitness First gyms. Here are my personal impressions:

MAKATI - Sobrang daming tao dito kapag weekdays after work, around 5 to 8:30 p.m. Parang palengke na. Sometimes the place smells nga toward the evening dahil sa sobrang dami ng tao. Nauubusan na ng locker kaya puwede nang i-deposit yung backpack sa check-in counter sa labas. Because it's the oldest branch, medyo kailangan na ng repair ang mga facilities, especially in the locker room i.e. shower, lockers etc.

Pero kudos to the staff for managing to refill the iced tea and coffee on time. Friendly staff nila. The branch has that cosmopolitan feel to it. Maraming nice-looking girls.

LIBIS-EASTWOOD CITY - In my opinion, the best FF branch. It's very spacious and has a magnificent view of Libis. Ang ganda-ganda ng ambience. Parang you always feel light at hindi nagsisiksikan ang mga tao kahit dumadami na. Lockers are ok pa naman. Iced tea, coffee and bananas are regularly stocked. Parking is good dahil na-manage nilang i-lower ang fees to P10 if you have validation. Friendly front-desk staff although trainers and motivators aren't as friendly as in Makati, in my opinion.

ABS-CBN - The gym has that chic feel to it, probably kasi it's like the "Hollywood" branch, although parang darker ang lighting than the other branches. Locker room is very clean and the facilities have that brand-new feel to them. At least even in peak times, this place doesn't get the "palengke" air that Makati gets. The place is fairly spacious. Again, nice-looking crowd.

GREENHILLS - The "baby" of the family. Parang medyo mas maliit ang workout area, which is in the second floor. Pero parang mas malaki ang diversity ng mga equipment. There are certain equipment here na hindi ko nakita sa 3 other branches I've visited. The first floor, where the lounge, locker rooms and reception area are located, feels more spacious. It's very clean although hindi pa nga fully normal ang operations. As of two weeks ago, wala pang steam and sauna, although baka meron na by this writing. Wala pa ring "entrance gate" where you swipe your card.

ALABANG - I haven't visited the place. Anyone want to do a mini-review? I'm interested how this compares to the other branches.

All-in-all, Fitness First still offers a fairly good and delightful workout experience, although the degree varies from branch to branch. Libis/Eastwood is by far the best and I hope the other branches can look at that as their model.

More than a month na kami ng bf ko na member sa Fitness First (passport), pero di ko pa nasisimulan magwork out dun. Pano yon eh first time ko mag-member ng gym? San ako magsisimula? Di ko kasi alam gagawin ko pagdating ko dun.

Tsaka may mga namimick up ba sa Fitness First? I get really irritated kasi sa guys na tumitingin pag nasa gym eh.
Lastly, kelangan ba mag-sports bra while working out? How about the socks, kelangan ba athletic socks ang gamitin?

Oh yeah, P750 each din yung joining fee namin, pero may administrative fee pa kaming binayaran na more than P1,000 each.

    1. pag first time kang member...may parang "initiation" chuva yun. i forget what they call it. basta turuan ka nila how to use the machines. i think you have to call muna para magpa-sked.

    2. the pick up part i can't answer. ehek. pero daming bading dun so i guess mas problema ng guys to most of the people pretty much mind their own businesses...except for some hostile girls pero wag mo na lang pansinin...baka PMS-ing sila. hahaha. wear a sports bra kung comfy ka wearing one and use athletic socks.

    ayun..

Ey thanks natalie_sod and sentiments! Hostile girls?

I've been a member of FF Makati branch for almost a year na..di nga lang ako ganun ka regular mag work out because of my darn sked. Ok naman yung facilities nila, pag off peak hours nga lang mas maganda mag work out, walang gaanong tao. Their spa's okay din, masarap magpa massage. Dami ding pogi hahaha! Mas mura sya compared to other gyms kung tutuusin kaya lagi sila jam packed pag before and after office hours..

Fave class ko eh yung cosmic cycling..naliligo ako sa sweat nun eh, Body Pump's cool din tsaka Body Balance. Havent tried yung bago nila, yung Body Combat ba yun..

Ayaw ko lang minsan yung water nila, nagwawala bigla pero I guess they're doing something about it.
