Talking Ever read the B1 Gang books?

    Hello!

Has anyone here read any of the B1 Gang books, a young adult detective series? I just bought one yesterday (Halimaw sa Wawa). Yes, they're in Filipino. I was looking for good children's books written by local authors. I've read a few in English but this was the first time I saw any in Filipino so I decided to try it out.

I like it. I'm not done with it. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I have to be honest, I'm not as quick with reading Filipino. So, I can't really say if it's good or bad in terms of style or anything like that. There were definitely words I defined on context, so a dictionary would have been helpful.

But the intentions (to be a true Filipino adventure for young people) are noble and I think it delivers. The characters are interesting and the book is also funny where it means to be funny, serious where it tries to be serious.

Give it a try. Introduce it to young people you know, but read it first. It's good to be able to support the local publishing industry.

    They have a website too...

Post B1 Gang is fun!!! Read it!!

It's nice to know that there are other people who appreciates B1 Gang.

I'm a fanatic. I have a collection of all their case files. It's so unfortunate that they have no new book published. Their last is the Episode One, released sometime in 2000 (?). It's informative because they include history, adventure, humor and suspense in one. And Filipino can easily relate to the sequence and the flow of the story.

I just hope that FIlipino learn to appreciate their own.

these books were awesome! i remember buying them in one of the small-time school supplies stores when i was like 12-13... and i'm grateful for it because they were the ones that influence my love for the suspense-horror genres!!!

hehehe... plus i love the camaraderie for the 4 characters... and the humor is so cute! i love it!!!

    Post Yehey!

I'm glad there are other people out there who've read the B1 Gang.

I finished the book on my second day of reading and I'll be on my way to National in a few minutes to get another one -- kahit medyo nahirapan akong magbasa ng Tagalog. I think maybe I'll get myself one of those pocket Tagalog-English dictionaries.

    Happy reading!

    Me THE EVER LOVABLE....... BOGING!!!!

    he! he! he!

kakatuwa kasi siya eh. Try mo yung lihim ng batong bughaw, exciting yun and Maskara ni Longino, yun ang favorite ko. Ganda ng adventure nila dun.

    Post My favorite character...

Boging or Jo, more of Boging kasi nakakatawa siya!

So far, I've only read Case 1 and 3, but I also bought Case No. 4 and Episode I. I liked #3 (Ang Lihim ng Dilim).

Gusto ko rin basahin 'yung mga nabanggit mo... I hope may makita ulit ako sa National.
