oo nga pala, just a question on the pus thing

if there is a pus discharge, i mean freely flowing ba yun? or do i have to squeeze it out like that of a toothpaste?

and what does it smell like? kasi confused ako kung semen or pus ba talaga?

and kung may pus discharge ako, does it automatically mean na i should have pain in urination. or can i have those discharges even without experiencing pain in urination?

Pus means it's nana, whether it's freely flowing or not. It normally doesn't smell like anything. I think any male would be able to differentiate pus from semem. If you have purulent discharge, you should already consult a physician, whether or not you have pain on urination.

Follow-up testing is done to check whether the bacteria is eradicated already, or if there is a need to further extend or shift the medication. Just because you don't have pain doesn't mean the bacteria has been completely eradicated.

okay this really helps me a lot
how reliable is a urine test? i mean kung normal na siya okay na ba yun? what other tests pa ba ang reliable?

  5. #65
You should see a doctor. Do not just go to a clinic and request for whatever test you think is appropriate. You don't use urinalysis to diagnose STD. The physician will first do a history and PE, and request for the appropriate labs depending on what STD you're most at risk for.

    another question in STD

    hello

i would just like to ask when i can start having sex again after i contracted an STD like GC or chlamydia

i already had my urine tested and it came out normal. my CBC is also normal. Doc Ira told me that if everything comes out normal (whether i am asymptomatic or not) then i am just fine and i wouldn't worry about any infection or disease anymore

i just want to know when i can do it again. i don't want to spread any of these infections.

and i would also like to aks whether there is an effect on my sperm cells if ever i contracted this disease (considering the fact now that i am cured)?

and can i also know if the tests i underwent are enough. i really don't feel anything anymore. i just want to be sure.

    thanx

Are you sure you got an STD in the first place? Did you have symptoms and did you see a doctor for it?

The urinalysis and CBC will not tell you if you do have STD. The CBC may suggest that there is an infection somewhere in the body. The urinalysis would mainly show abnormalities in the urinary tract and not the reproductive organs. There are other lab tests which would give better results to determine if you have the sexually transmitted infections.

STDs are treated by specific antibiotics. If you had STD and have been treated completely with the right antibiotics (prescribed by your doctor) and the follow up tests turn out negative, then there's little chance that you would transmit the disease.

    Tests

Gud day! Doc, just want to know, how do doctors/clinics test someone who has an std?? what are the kinds of tests they conduct??

  10. #70
Depends on what symptoms they have and what particular STD is suspected. Labs are either through blood or thru genital discharge.

  11. #71
ic, so it depends on the case. thanx doc ira.

Unhappy not sure what it was... but i'm worried

i just had sexual contact recently and something appeared in my genital about 4 days after the contact. it appeared under my penile shaft and looked like a small pimple.

i didn't experience any pain at all when it unless i touched it and tried to squeeze it. it behaved like a pimple kasi di ba yung mga pimples natin, hindi naman nag-itch nor painful unless we touch them or squeeze them.

i noticed it nung 4 days after i had contact with the girl. and then 2 days after that wala na sia. although my traces yung lump pero di na tulad ng dati na may white spot sia. ngayon wala na. it doesn't hurt din naman when i touch it.

i had cases like this even before i had my first sexual experience (college days). and usually ganito din naman yung nangyayari, its there and it usually goes away after a day or two.

pero ngayon kasi i had contact kaya i'm confused.

wala naman akong ibang nararamdaman, no pain in urination, discharge or anything itchy. its just that.

i will have my lab tests kasi next week pa because i can't get out of work right now. i'm scheduled to take a urine analysis, and a VDRL/RPR test in case its syphillis, also a CBC for any blood infection.

i just wanna know if i take the VDRL and it comes out negative, and my CBC is normal along with my urine test does that mean that i have no infection?

i understand these bacteria take time to incubate. i'm going to have the tests next week, by that time it would be 13 days after my contact.

these are just the details of what has happened. and also, i used a condom on the contact it was a latex (frenzy).

i understand kasi na condoms are not 100% sure pala so i just wanna be sure by taking these tests and confirming that the pimple is not anything caused by STD bacteria or virus

thanx so much for you help

Nonpainful blisters is not a symptom of syphilis nor gonorrhea. With syphilis, you'll have a painless cauliflower-like growth/ulcer on your penis, while gonorrhea shows as a penile discharge (pus). Genital herpes presents as painful blisters which recur--while yours isn't painful, you may want to have yourself tested for that nonetheless. VDRL can diagnose secondary syphilis, which means it will only be positive 6 months after you've developed the ulceration. Urinalysis will not definitely diagnose any STD either. If you haven't seen any physician, I suggest that you just see one who can examine you properly first and who can ask for the proper lab exams.

    ahhh

so if its a small pimple lang naman, baka hindi rin naman pala STD. right now kasi i don't feel anything. no change in urination, and nothing is itchy. my doctor has already seen the pimple

problem is i was able to show him the blister nung gumaling na. kasi i had the blister tuesday, and wala na sia nung thursday morning. so like two days sia andun and all throughout that it i didn't exprience any pain. if its an ulceration of a syhpillis type, can the blister heal that quickly and kasi yung sakin maliit lang talaga sia, hindi naman sia cauliflower like type

nothing's itch ryt now and i don't feel anythng unlike the last time na may change in my urinary habits as early as week after the contact. it has been a week and i feel quite alright naman. nothing's changed expect that pimple

before kasi i usually have that after i masturbate for quite a long time. baka irritated lang yung skin or something

i would just like to ask kasi that if i take a CBC ryt now and it comes out normal does that mean i don't have any disease or something? kasi 6 months is an awful long time for me to be sure i'm not infected...

anyhow does that mean that i would have to wait that long for me to be assured i'm not infected?

    thanx...

i checked my book on STD wala nama akong nakitang wart or pimple. nakita ko yung sinasabi ni Ira na parang cauliflower.

what will happen if you ask your partner about this? what if she has that too?

  17. #77
i wud just like to ask also regarding sa syphillis

i hear kasi na if u have the ulceration (primary syphillis), most of the time its painless and it heals without us noticing it.

is this true? if in any case this happened to me, if it heals, i have also heard that the bacteria stays in me and then that is the time i develop secondary syphillis (after a few months)

since the VDRL test can only verify after a few months pa, does it still mean that i have the bacteria in my bloodstream and would a CBC detect any abnormality in my blood if there is any infection?

how about the case of herpes?

also, does the ulceration heal that quickly? kasi right now i can't even seen any marking of the pimple (parang as if it were never there in the first place)

its been 8 days na after the contact and i have no change in my urinary habits yet as well

also i would also like to ask when would be the best time for me to take the VDRL test and a HIV and Hepa B test considering my last contact was just 8 days ago?

thank you so much for your time

CBC won't tell you if you're infected with syphilis.

If your doctor has already seen the lesion and has decided that it does not look like syphilis, I'd take his word for it since he has seen the actual lesion rather than guess on something I haven't seen.

Here's a site you can refer to for more information: http://www.niaid.nih.gov/factsheets/stdsyph.htm

okay, i hope i didn't get anything from the contact.

i know the CBC would not detect syphillis per se. but i would just like to ask if it comes out normal, would i have to worry about any disease. i mean should i still worry about anything at this stage? it has been 10 days na since the contact

im sorry if i keep on asking questions, it's just that im very anxious about this ...

doc ira also says that nonpainful blisters are not a result of syphillis not a symptom. kasi i had a blister or two just last week, but they healed in just a day or so. do the chancres heal that quickly. i mean do they heal in just two days?

sorry to bother you on this... i just want to know lang naman

thanx a lot for your time

Off hand, from your description, I don't think it's syphilis.

Of course, I haven't seen your lesions either.

The problem with CBC is that it's so nonspecific and nonconclusive. A normal CBC doesn't necessarily mean that there's no infection, it just means that your white blood cells are not increased, which makes the presumption that there is nothing for them to fight off.

Scrapings from the sores to check for the presence of Treponema pallidum is an option if the sores are still active. An FTA-ABS (a blood test to check for specific antigen-antibody reaction for syphilis) could also help, but only if you have enough circulation antibodies in your bloodstream. This is usually done AFTER VDRL or RPR becomes positive. as the latter 2 tests are not specific for syphilis.

Just to help you, here are some pictures:
