I'd like to get specific here as in everyone's target expenses and investments r carefully listed. Then perhaps we'll see/gauge how prepared our generation actually is in handling The Future. Got it? Pounce when ready.

This is just off the top of my head...

I guess at my age and current economic standing I can afford to be a little risky with a million pesos. Lets assume that I don't have a business in which to invest...

I'd create a 50-50 portfolio. The first would be conservative blue chip stocks or even T-bills. The other half would be easy-to-liquidate securities; maybe venture-capital or speculative investments, with higher projected rates of return at the expense of certainty.

I don't see myself going into daytrading or margin trading in the near future.

My investment priorities are a stable income base from which to make risky but profitable acquisitions. Another important thing is to be liquid in case an investment opportunity does turn up, which is why I'm not acquiring physical assets.

Actually, I may even assume a higher proportion to risk. Also, I may lop off a certain sum to buy cool stuff for myself, heheheh...

Too bad a million pesos won't go far anymore. I'd use strictly PhP 50,000 as mad money--go shopping for luxury items. Then the other PhP 300,000 would be used to invest in bluechip stocks. The extra PhP650,000 will be used to open a business--maybe as capital for a small buy and sell, or as part of the initial outlay for a franchise.

slurburn, I'm not really into trading, although I've been reading up about it. I'm one of those frustrated people who don't have the disposable income needed to trade. My paycheck gets me through the month, but it's not enough to make a real investment...

I'd definiteyly put up my own business. I'm really interested in putting up a cyber cafe, laundromat, and a water refilling station. Kasya na siguro ang 1 million pesos dun sa tatlong yan. Kung may matitira pa, I'd deposit it in the bank.

This is in no particular order:

    1. Travel with my family.
    2. Buy myself a car.
    3. Buy my dad a sports car.
    4. Go shopping.
    5. invest in stocks.
    6. Buy my own computer.

    slurburn,

I think what characterises people's spending nowadays is a lower propensity to save money ... high consumption.

It could be a case of disposable income. Our incomes are so low that we don't make enough that's we perceive to be worth saving. I look at my paycheck nowadays, which isn't that bad, and I can't even imagine how I can possibly save enough to buy a car in the next 2 years! It really sucks.

As for stocks, my friend makes good money keeping his ear to the ground and investing in, well, "First Family" stocks.

nway, if i had a million pesos, i'll ask my mom if she'd want to open a david's salon with me. since i have 1 million na, she can just give me another million tus we can get a franchise of david's na! la lang. sarap kse if u have a parlor eh tus get a great location lang, bentang-benta na! cool...i can get a massage na and foot scrub anytime i want!

    Take control of Philippine Airlines!

A million ain't that a fortune nowadays since average cars cost close to a million with only a few hundred thousand peso difference. Therefore, I'd invest it in a business first. I have a friend who says his friend started a bar in Q.C. for only PhP50,000.

If I didn't give a damn about my future, I'd go back to the States and spend a hell of a vacation there, get a side trip to Mexico and see how it resembles the Philippines.
