It really depends on your monitor and your videocard. But most recent video cards support high-refresh rates. So, for the most part, the only real problem would be the monitor.
Some high-end monitors can go up as high as supporting 150hz refresh rates at high-resolutions (like 1024x768>above).
Generally the default resolution for most part is an ugly and eye irritating 60Hz. Currently, most monitors now have (at least) a refresh rate of 85Hz.
yeah depende sa monitor and videocard yun ... so mahirap mag-bigay ng specific na refresh rate dahil baka ndi kaya ng monitor mo yung i-specify namin. pero kung bago naman monitor mo eh kaya nyan malamang 85hz at 1024x768
XP pegs your refresh rate at 60Hz unless you already got the fix. 85Hz is the optimal refresh rate for 1024 x 768 (and for all rez if i remember correctly).
Hope this helps.
But if your monitor can support higher refresh rates at the resolution you're using, then, the better for your eyes. (Less strain).Originally posted by lean_n_green

My res is 1280x1024 85Hz
Monitor: 17" AOC Spectrum 7GlrA
Vid Card: Geforce 2 MX
dati di ko kaya yung settings na yan with a 17" DTS Monitor, so dependent talaga ang resolution sa vidcard and monitor mo
meron bang monitor na kaya 1600 x 1200 resolution and above? if so *** brand or does it still depend on the vid card?
marami. you can't go wrong with a viewsonic. if you have some dough stashed up somewhere, pwede ka ring mag sony.Originally posted by [JZ] Nightmare

before buying the monitor better read up its specs. nakalagay naman doon kung anong max rez ang kaya nya.

yes palaging dumidepende ang max res at refresh rate sa videocard and monitoror does it still depend on the vid card?
Yes... But unfortunately, only most high-end monitors can do that... And more unfortunately, most newer high-end monitors can supports high refresh rates at that resolution...Originally posted by [JZ] Nightmare

As I have noticed, on my brother's Apple Cinema Display (21" Trinitron-based), it can do 1600x1200 but at a mere 75hz refresh rate... I dunno if its with the ATI Rage card's limitation. I will try and use a PC to hook into it to see if it were really the card that's giving the limitation.
there is a problem regarding refresh rates in XP.
Check out this link to know about it and suggested solutions,

75Hz is decent. Rule of thumb is you can't go lower than 75Hz refresh rate for any resolution. At lower refresh rates the eyes get strained more.Originally posted by edmoncu

However, for pleasant viewing the suggested refresh rate is 85Hz. Of course, the higher the better.
Viewsonics P90F supports 1600x1200 at 87Hz, if memory serves me right. This baby goes for about 16,800 Php. It's max rez is a whopping 1920x1440 @ 73Hz... which is still quite good.
AOC 9KLR max's out at 1600X1200 @ 75Hz, while Samsung's 955DF tops out at 1600x1200 @ 67Hz (bad!). Both these monitors sell out for roughly 11,000 Php. And to think I almost bought the Samsung 955DF... well I just hope that AOC was honest in publishing their 1600x1200 @ 75Hz spec..
However, 1600x1200 to most people may seem a bit too high for a 19 incher, as the text and icons can be a bit hard to see. But for those with 20/20 vision, they will surely appreciate the extra desktop real estate afforded by such high rez's.
yikes! 85hz ba ang optimal sa 1024x768???
naka 60Hz ako dati pa eh...kaya pala sumasakit mata/ulo ko after more than 30mins of typing...![]()
nope... hindi masisira ang monitor mo if you up the refresh rate. it's actually tested at these rates...Originally posted by guess_who

masisira lang monitor mo kung ni-force mo sya sa isang refresh rate na ndi nya supported
