i am a basketball lover. i always like to watch the pba, particularly. but, its really sad that i don't get so much info about who's gonna play and when its gonna be aired and all that. it seems that the new liscenced broadcaster (or whatever you call them)is not as efficient as vtv. i really don't know what happened to vtv. i really hope that viva tv would make better things happen for the pba. as far as i know, they won the bidding because they got bucks or they got very lucrative advertising modules for the pba. but, i don't even think they have some REAL GOOD ideas. its like the pba is not as exciting as it was. even the new commentators are like stiff and dead. i am pissed, obviously. i want the old pba coverage back!!!!!i miss the colorful stuff they used to have. the way they presented things and everything about the quality entertainment provided by vtv.

one more thing, if viva tv would not improve on their stuff, then i think they have no right to b_ _ _ s_ _ _ the premier league of the country. or maybe they're into promoting the mba, thus makes things worst for pba so that the audience would get bored and switch, huh?!

c'mon guys, it's the new millenium. show us your stuff, eh?!

The Rock says this, the PBA is as exciting as ever. Most of the games in the first week of paly have resulted in down-the-wire finishes with one game (Red Bull vs. Sta. Lucia) going into overtime with a game-winning shot by the most unlikely plyer on the planet, Chirs Bolado! The coverage is pretty much the same. New announcers, yes, but nevertheless the same. They should just review their info though, Ed Picson made the mistake of thinking Buboy Rodriguez of Shell came from Ginebra, when in fact he's been with Shell for one year now.

The annoying thing is that they keep roody poo candy asses like Anthony Suntay and Chino Trinidad in their broadcast position thinking that they're pleasant and that PBA fans like them. They stink, REALLY STINK!!! Take them out of the coverage, and remove their idiotic spiels in the pre-game, and THAT would be an improvement.

The Rock agrees though with seven with regard to updates on what will be televised. They should really make an effort to bombard viewers with info as to what game is coming, whether it's NBA, PBA, or PBL.

If you smell-l-l-l-l-l what The Rock is cookin!

i think the games are pretty exciting. i'll actually consider paying to watch pop cola play. the league's not exactly close to attaining parity but the roster changes have rocked the old hierarchy up. the addition of more expansion clubs also provide more opportunities for underhyped ballers to shine given more minutes.
but yeah, the coverage sucks like the clippers. how come they don't have postgame interviews of the top endgame performers anymore? the players and coaches must've begged their front office to put a restraining order on clueless reporters like janelle so and dong alejar. when i was a kid, i actually learned how to play from the old coverage. now, so and alejar ask the most predictably asinine questions (i.e. to winning player/coach: how do you feel?) that the postgame interviews become a waste of airtime. i actually caught one player giving alejar the staredown either from obvious annoyance, or from what-the-hell-are-you-saying absurdity. as for so, she's cute and camera-savvy but it's obvious she doesn't belong. coaches and players look at her the way that men do on the road whenever they encounter a bad female driver. it's embarassing. chiqui roa is another case study. like so, they talk about hoops as if they wouldn't be caught dead in a ballgame unless it was their job. it's also the same thing with the pbl and the mba's female rovers. we're so friggin' full of it!
they say you can judge how backward a nation is by how women are perceived. it's painful to watch and admit that our local basketball community gives its female members little regard. so, roa and company are not helping the cause. they confirm the male assessment that women are never at par with men when it comes to discussing sports.
meanwhile, in the u.s. and other parts of the world, there are more women athletes and sportscasters who are recognized in the field. they've made the lame insult, 'you play like a girl' or 'you talk about ballin' like a girl' virtually obsolete. sadly, not in the pba.

seven>; I know what you mean. I've been an avid fan of the PBA for quite some time na, but my interest in it has been fading the past couple of years. I can't explain it. maybe it's the format, the players, the commentators, the way they market it....whatever. all I know is that the PBA better hope that there are not many more people like me. They better do something quick. For me, parang it's sobrang trying hard NBA na hindi naman. It used to be that the PBA had its own flavor. something you souldn't get from any other league ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. Now it seems as though they are just content trying to be a poor man's NBA.....right down to the commercials. C'mon guys. Bring the REAL PBA back.

I know what you mean. They even have an organ and synthesizer ala-NBA. Personally I hate it. Mas gusto ko pa yung days when eahc team provided brass bands para mas lively. As for the commentators sina Joe Cantada rules.

Parang NBA din yan. Most of the games in the regular season are a little boring (especially involving teams like Miami and Utah). But when the playoffs come, excitement and tension are way, way up. Even those boring teams are fun to watch come May. Sa simula lang yan. But Viva-Vintage have to do something about their broadcast team...
