    Exclamation unforgettable experience

It happened 12 yrs. ago, I was only 13 then. My 2 female cousins & I were heading back home from Andok's (if I remember it well) when 2 guys came threatening us with their knives. The incident happened in front of UST, it was around 7 pm. I didn't know what to do. I just kept walking like I was in a state of shock. I was trembling like hell. They got my cousins' watches & some things but fortunately, we weren't hurt.

Would you consider YOURSELF better armed and ready if you have already experienced being held up or stalked?

They say EXPERIENCE is the best teacher.

I agree so much with Chad and all the other ppl who said that there's no safe place anymore. No matter what you wear, where you go, what you ride....all these things seem not to matter that much to holduppers na.
I seldom commute but the few times that i tried commuting....MRT, jeep, tricycle...... 2 scary experiences na ang nangayari sakin. And the 2nd experience happened just this evening. A few hours ago. ..
I feel stupid for having the guts to commute at 7pm from marikina to QC. Kahit hindi pa ganun ka-late, sobrang delikado na pala...if only i can turn back time.....
I rode a jeep at anonas, and when i saw that there were a lot of guys inside the jeep, hindi na sana ako sasakay....but then kung hindi naman ako sasakay, maiiwan ako mag-isa doon sa may anonas....e medyo madilim pa don sa part na yon, so nakaktakot...and since may 2 babae din na sumakay kasabay ko....lumakas ang loob ko. Then i just prayed when i was already inside the jeep.
However, when we were already in kamias, napansin ko that the guys...all 6 of them...na sobrang maskulado (they look like bouncers sa bars) were becoming noisier and they were saying something like "wala tayong pera...ilabas na ang mga salapi..mag-credit card na lang tayo para tuloy ang inuman"...and their eyes were all so red so i presume all of them were drunk or tipsy. I wanted to go out of the jeep na talaga but then i couldnt because medyo nakaharang lahat sila. Their tummies were blocking the way. ****...nanginginig na talaga ako at that time and i was thinking of all sorts of possiblities na but then i felt helpless. What was i to do? nakaharang sila and wala naman akong laban sa 6 na malalaking guys. The 2 thin girls who were sitting across me seemed shaken, too. Tapos bigla na lang sabi nung guy na katabi ko, "miss, nasaan na ba talaga tayo...naliligaw na ata ako e..." he asked me that three times. And wala akong masabi kundi.."nasa kamias ho" (with all the courage that i can muster). The driver was also saying."kamias nga ito". Tapos biglang hinawakan ng guy yung right leg ko! ************* i was soooo scared na talaga...kung hold-up...kunin na lahat wag lang akong saktan or hawakan or whatever........then while praying hard, the 2 other girls said "para", i ran for the exit, jumped, and rode the first jeep that i saw. Lucky for me i didnt get hurt and none of them grabbed me or tried to hold me while i was trying to get out of the jeep.

It was a miracle that nothing happened. I had all my stuff intact and more importatly, nothing worse happened to me. The power of prayer talaga.

so to all the ppl out there...ingat na lang(paano, i dont know) ....bring some kind of defense weapon if possible, learn aikido or soemthing. Coz now i feel like taking self-defense lessons! And always pray. To all the girls out there lalo na, dont be stupid like me, learn from my experience, wag na lang kayong lalabas mag-isa. Whether ur gonna take a taxi, jeep, MRT, bus....unsafe talaga.

ako muntik na! nakasakay me sa jeep and hindi sya puno....may lalaking tumabi sa akin and meron syang bag na parang walang laman. nagring yung phone ko and because i'm so naive sinagot ko...*** ale na nasa tapat ko tinadyakan ako (hindi naman malakas ) tinignan ko syempre, tapos she told me na lumipat daw ako sa tabi niya parang minime lang niya...so lumipat me. after kong lumipat bumaba na yung katabi ko and some other guy. pagka-alis nila sinabi sa akin nung tumadyak sa akin na lalaslasin na pala yung bag ko and nung lumipat nga daw ako sabi nung isa pang ale don sa jeep parang bumulong daw na parang "pare may kasama"

thank God may mga tao pang mababait! kinakabahan daw kasi yung ale and tsaka nangyari na daw sa kanya yon before.

i learned my lesson, from then on hindi na ako nag-phone in public and pag sumasakay me ng jeep hindi na ako nagdadala ng bag!

    WHYTE

it took me quite sometime to overcome my paranoia whenever i walked the streets.
i guess the hardest part to overcome was the resentment and frustration kc di ako nagsumbong sa pulis.
besides the fact that naisahan ako by the tactic na "boss anong oras na" pagtingin ko sa watch ko "Pre holdup to"
in broad daylight in front of so many people and vendors in the middle of the street ako hinoldup.

by the way lunch time kc kaya walang pulis at that moment

warning: daming holdupper sa divisoria especially sa harap ng tutuban recto intersection ng soler and dagupan.

hey aside from talking about holdup lets talk about ano ang dapat gawin at iwasan sa kalye at saan and delikado nowadays.

wheeewww, what a thread ... just happened to me last week, aug 15 - thursday to be exact ... well, its a very ordinary day for me, suweldo pa naman, i went out of the office ng mga 6:30 pero 6 talaga ang lbas ko, i usually take an fx sa may ayala triangle biyaheng lrt ... very ordianry day, im one of those people na kailangang makipag-unahan kasi mahirap sumakay ... wala pa man ding line dun ... nywys, nakasakay naman me mga quarter to 7 ata ... and first time kong makatulog sa fx ... so ayun ... what i didn't notice is that may nakasakay na palang 5 goons sa fx before it pick up passengers, so before we get to buendia, nag-announce na ng hod-up, sobrang natakot ako .. kasi when i woke up kita ko yung gun nung isa (take note all of them have guns) 4 kaming passengers (3girls, 1 boy) i was actually sitting on the frontseat ... so habang kinukuha yung mga bags namin ... we're heading of a detour. kung saan-saan kami inikot ... mas nakakatakot ... is that yung mga holdappers sa gitna when they suggest to not let me got at all ( isama daw ba ako) that's why i prayed hard ... i'm not crying that time, i remain silent but im shaking, nag-palpitate na nga ako sobrang shock and fear na nararamdaman ko ... the goons we're actually planning to take me to somewhere else kasama nila, i was really afraid i thought im goin to die na , and then sabi ko sa holdapper na katabi ko na i need to go to the hospital coz my mom is there and she'll be undergoing an operation ... suddenly yung holdapper na katabi ko asked me what hospital and kung bakit na-hospitalize mother ko and i make kuwento na lang (tama bang magsinungaling pa) but i need to, para pakawalan ako ... i told that man that i still trust him na pakakawalan niya ako coz i need to see my mother ( gee) thank God naniwwala siya and he even gave me 40 pesos, my umbrella and my newly buy book ( by joshua harris) and sabi nya sa kin don't worry miss makakarating ka sa hospital ... thank God ... they dropped us sa makati din after 30 - 45 minutes of wandering around ... I praised God coz He never left me during the times of trouble ... although it happened to me, I still feel blessed because of God's goodness ...

Psalm 91:1-2 He who dwells in the shelter of the most High, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty I will say of the Lord "He is my refuge and my fortress, My God in whom I trust"

so you people should take care ... and remain calm, always pray to God, in whatever circumstances ...

I know that the Philippines may be dangerous, but I never experienced that when I was there. I have been all over and at night and some scary places- palengkes at night. Anyway,my question is, how can it not be safe with so many armed security guards everywhere? Do they help prevent crimes? I always felt safe because of the armed guards, even in Mcdo.

When i was young, i worked at a fast food place and one night someone walked in and demanded money. His hand was in his pocket and he pretended to have a gun. I hesitated and he started cursing and saying he was gonna kill me. I was a little nervous but not too bad. I opened the register and gave him a lot of singles. Maybe like 40 dollars altogether. He left. He didn't know that there were hundreds still in the register. ha ha. He was too high to notice and obviously scared. I even thought about just running to the back of the store. There would be no way for him to get me. There were 2 other people in the back and I had a feeling he had no gun. But I thought about what if he came back for revenge. I could not deal with that. I didn't want to feel scared going to work. The good news? My friend and I kept some money for ourselves. I gave him like 20 and i took 100. We didn't like our boss and we considered it severance for our ordeal.
What do you think? Ha ha.

    As Always.

My friend was held up gun point in Cubao a months ago. nag iisa na lang kasi sa jeep going to Cubao at 6am. (our service picks them at 6:15) she was ok but had been paranoid as always.
good thing that she transferred to the shifting section and had to go to the worklace in the afternoon.

but when she was transferred to the regular shift, she was again paranoid. On her 1st day, going home via cubao, a snatcher got something from a lady near her inside the jeep. bumalik uli ang pagka paranoid niya.

then the next day, nag iisa na lang siya sa jeep going to cubao in the morning, feeling paranoid again, she saw a man holding something glittering. the driver said "may nakuha naman sila, kaya miss mag ingat ka na lang."

I mean situations play on us at times and it strikes on the time we are reallyin our weakest. But it will help us remember GOD.

That God no, I haven't. Even if mainit ako sa mga snatchers because I used to lug my laptop around and take the public transpo. The tip is to just keep moving. I got stalked a couple of times and every time, I try to weave in and out of the crowd and seek refuge in lighted places. Also, even if you ARE scared and you feel theatened, try your best not to look like it! Snatchers tend to prey on nervous and vulnerable-looking individuals who seems like they are at loss of what to do.

Di pa naman ako nahohold-up but my bag got snatched. I think I ought to share my experience as well.

It was around 8pm and my boyfriend and I just got out of his van and were about to cross the street to go to this bar along Jupiter Street in Makati. I had my handbag on my right hand while my boyfriend was holding my left hand and was on my left side. There was a friend of his who was parked one car ahead of us and I waved at him. All of a sudden this motorcycle slows down near me. I thought the guy was someone I knew and was playing a joke on me but I was still wary and stepped back a little so he wouldn't hit me. The guy behind the driver (there were two of them on the motorcycle) just sudenly grabbed my bag (take note:maikli lang ang handle ng bag ko!) and took off. Traffic kaya madali siyang nakawala. My bf even shouted at him, thinking they almost hit me but not knowing that my bag was snatched. I literally could not speak straight and a few seconds passed until my bf finally understood that my bag got snatched. He, then, with a friend of ours ran after the guys but obviously, hindi nila nahabol.

Pero sabi ng friend namin, narinig daw niya that this motorcycle duo was killed na by the Makati police. Bad trip talaga yon because I had all my ids there, my drivers' license, money from christmas (that happened after xmas, before new year's), and my make-up!

The guards around the area who saw the whole thing happen said that those guys were pretty notorious, victimizing mostly women. Kaya girls beware! Isa pang style daw nila pag nag-aabang ka ng ride, a car would stop in front of you to ask for directions but they will just snatch your bag if you even start pointing out directions.

Another time naman, in Cubao, I left my things in my car and got down for around 20minutes. When I got back, my car radio was gone, my bag and other personal belongings were gone. And this was just barely 2 months after my bag got snatched.

My tip to the ladies, when you're walking around, just be alert and observe the people and what's happening around you. If you think you're in trouble or there's something that's about to happen, quickly walk away. I suggest bringing a weapon (like a swiss knife or mase spray) and learn a couple of self-defense moves. But most of all, if the guy/s is/are trying to rob you, just give whatever it is he wants away. He may be armed and if you're able to run, he may follow you and do something harmful to you. Ang pera naman, you can earn it again pero pag may nangyari sayo, walang amount pwedeng ibayad don.

And also always keep your bag in front of your body. Pag medyo binitawan mo yan for a moment, ang dali for a snatcher to just grab it easily.

And before leaving a place or pag sakay niyo ng sasakyan, just basically wherever you are, PRAY!

Grabe, kaya advice ko, if you sense danger, always trust your instinct and always pray.
