    CRY OPHELIA

    One of the few songs I can listen to again and again without getting sick of it.

    What I like most is the 'reality' of the song. It does happen. It is happening.

    Some Lines from "Cry Ophelia" by Adam Cohen.

    If you throw a stone, something's gonna shatter somewhere
    We're all so fragile,
    We're all so scared.

    You say you wanna learn
    How to live your life without tears?
    But we've been trying to do that
    For thousands of years

    So go on and cry Ophelia
    It's the only thing to do sometimes
    You know I'm crying too
    Right there with you
    It's alright Ophelia
    Everybody cries.

    I held her close to me
    'Cause I know she breaks so easily
    And then I told her
    But I knew no matter how I tried to console her
    She's just do the best she could
    But there are times the best in no damn good
    And no matter how you try to be kind
    There's always still a part of you you leave behind
    When it falls apart

    Chorus: There's no easy way to break somebody's heart

    I lied and told her she'd be fine
    Though we both knew it was just a line
    I had to do it
    'Cause I'd a' said anytihng to help me get through it

    Then she reached out for my hand
    And her simple touch was more than I could stand
    And I had to turn away
    'Cause I knew all the hurt
    That she was feeling I was feeling too
    'Cause when it falls apart

    Chorus:
    There's no easy way to break somebody's heart

    She could've gotten angry
    And made me feel like a guilty child
    But I realized that never was her style
    I wanted her to hurt me
    And not treat me like a friend
    I wanted to to say there'd be someday
    I'm come crawling on my kneeds to ask her back again
    But she acted like a lady 'til the end
    Oh, what a lady

    I thought that she'd break down
    But she smiled at me and never made a sound
    And I guess she understood in her way
    Cause her silence told me everything she could not say
    When it falls apart
    There's just no easy way
    Chorus:
    There's just no easy way
    There's just no easy way to break somebody's heart

    "Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything its cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it...it really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everthing for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more. "
    Erica Jong

    "Anxiety is love's greatest killer. It makes others feel as you might when a drowning man holds on to you. You want to save him, but you know he will strangle you with his panic. "
    Anais Nin, The Diary of Anais Nin, volume 4, 1944-1947

    "We are like sculptors, constantly carving out of others the image we long for, need, love or desire, often against reality, against their benefit, and always, in the end, a disappointment, because it does not fit them. "

    sa songs, my pick would be Fare Thee Well by the Indigo Girls. i think it's one of the most beautiful (but sad) songs ever written. the indigo girls are such talented songwriters.

    Fare thee well my bright star
    I watched your tailights blaze into nothingness
    But you were long gone before I ever got to you
    Before you blazed past this address

    And now I think of having loved and having lost
    But never know what it feel like to never love
    Who can say what's better when my heart's become the cost
    A mere token of a brighter jewel sent from above

    Fare thee well my bright star
    The vanity of youth the color of your eyes
    And maybe if I'd fanned the blazing fire of your day - to - day
    Or if I'd been older, I'd been wise

    Too thick the heat of those long summer evenings
    For a cool evening I began to yearn
    But you could only feed upon the things which feed a fire
    Waiting to see if I would burn

    Fare thee well my bright star
    It was a brief brilliant miracle dive
    That which I looked up to and I clung to for dear life
    Had to burn itself up just to make itself alive
    -- (my favorite line!)

    And I caught you then in your moment of glory
    Your last dramatic scene against a night sky stage
    With a moment so clear that it's as if you're still before me
    My once in a lifetime star of an age

    Fare thee well my bright star
    Last night the tongues of fire circled me round
    And this strange season of pain will come to pass
    When the healing hands of autumn cool me down

    as for poems, the love song of j. alfred prufrock by t.s. eliot. mahaba, so i won't post it na here, pero it's such a sad poem. my fave line is

    shall i part my hair behind? shall i dare to eat a peach?
    i shall wear hite flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
    i have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

    i do not think that they will sing to me.

    this is part of a song by mary beth maziarz:

    souvenirs

    i could let you slip away
    wait for a rainy day
    find the perfect coffee house
    and stay for hours
    but wouldn't that be failing us -
    letting go too soon?
    when everything i am
    still holds on to you
    and these
    souvenirs -- they keep me here
    you're really somewhere down the road
    i know

    and i'm still stranded here
    holding all these
    souvenirs

    is this even supposed to be a sad poem? ...pero i like to think of this when i think of her- isang suntok sa buwan

    Heaven overarches earth and sea,
    Earth-sadness and sea-bitterness.
    Heaven overarches you and me:
    A little while and we shall be -
    Please God -- where there is no more sea
    Nor barren wilderness.

    Heaven overarches you and me,
    And all earth's gardens and her braves.
    Look up with me, until we see
    The day break and the shadows flee.
    What though to-night wrecks you and me,
    If so to-morrow saves?

    altec, by all means, go! it's a great song it's sad that the only indigo girls song that most people know is power of two, when they have so many other beatiful songs, fare thee well being one of the most notable, at least for me.

    when you finally get to hear it, let us know what you think.

    'by the river piedra i sat down and wept. there is a legend that everything that falls into the waters of this river.... is transformed into the rocks that make the riverbed. if only i could tear out my heart and hurl it into the current, then my pain and longing would be over, and i could finally forget...
    ... may my tears run just as far, that my love might never know that one day i cried for him... i shall forget the roads, the mountains, and the fields of my dreams --- the dreams that will never come true."

    more:

    "pitiful is the person who is afraid of taking risks. perhaps this person wil never be disappointed or disillusioned; perhaps she won't suffer the way people do when they have a dream to follow. but when that person looks back --- and at some point everyone looks back --- she will hear her heart saying, "what have you done with the miracles that God planted in your days? What have you done with the talents God bestowed on you? you buried yourself in a cave because you were fearful of losing those talents. So this is your heritage: the certainty that you wasted your life."

    well, i've just finished reading it...and there. though it didn't make my cry, the story was sad. made me feel sad after reading it. but i guess that's how it goes with every nicholas sparks books.

    don't know if i've mentioned this before but how about...butterfly kisses? the lyrics are so sad.

    "with all that i've done wrong, i must've done something right to deserve a hug and butterfly kisses at night."

    it's such a father/daughter song. makes me think of my dad. *sigh*

    Yeah, the Indigo Girls make killer lyrics!

    ~~~~~
    Ghost, by the Indigo Girls (Emily Saliers)
    There's a letter on the desktop
    That I dug out of a drawer
    The last truce we ever came to from our adolescant war
    And I start to feel the fever
    From the warm air through the screen
    You come regular like seasons shadowing my dreams
    The Mississippi's mighty
    But it starts in Minnesota
    At a place that you can walk across with five steps down
    And I guess that's how you started
    Like a pinprick to my heart
    And at this point you rush right through me and I start to drown
    And there's not enough room in this world for my pain
    Signals cross and love gets lost and time passed makes it plain
    Of all my demon spirits I need you the most
    I'm in love with your ghost
    I'm in love with your ghost
    Dark and dangerous like a secret (don't tell a soul)
    That gets whispered in a hush (don't tell a soul)
    When I wake the things I dreamt about you last night make me blush
    When you kiss me like a lover
    Then you sting me like a viper
    I go follow to the river, play your memory like the piper
    And I feel it like sickness: how this love is killing me
    But I'd walk into the fingers of your fire willingly
    And dance the edge of sanity
    I've never been this close
    In love with your ghost
    Ooo ooo ooo ooo...
    Ooo ooo ooo...
    Ooo ooo ooo ooo...
    Ooo ooo ooo...
    Unknowing captor
    You'll never know how much you
    Pierce my spirit
    But I can't touch you
    Can you hear it? A cry to be free
    Oh I'm forever under lock and key
    As you pass through me
    Now I see your face before me
    I would launch a thousand ships
    To bring your heart back to my island as the sand beneath me slips
    As I burn up in your presence
    And I know now how it feels
    To be weakened like Achilles with you always at my heels
    And my bitter pill to swallow is the silence that I keep
    It poisons me I can't swim free, the river is too deep
    Though I'm baptised by your touch
    I am no worse at most
    In love with your ghost
    [polyphony]
    Amy: Emily:
    In love with your ghost You are shadowing my dreams
    In love with your ghost Ooo ooo ooo ooo...
    In love with your ghost Ooo ooo ooo ooo...
    Ooo ooo ooo...
    And also "When She Loved Me" from the Toy Story 2 OST...
    When She Loved Me
    When somebody loved me
    Everything was beautiful
    Every hour we spent together
    Lives within my heart
    And when she was sad
    I was there to dry her tears
    And when she was happy so was I
    When she loved me
    Through the summer and the fall
    We had each other that was all
    Just she and I together
    Like it was meant to be
    And when she was lonely
    I was there to comfort her
    And I knew that
    She loved me
    So the years went by
    I stayed the same
    But she began to drift away
    I was left alone
    Still I waited for the day
    When she'd say "I will always love you"
    Lonely and forgotten
    I never thought she'd look my way
    She smiled at me and held me
    Just like she used to do
    Like she loved me
    When she loved me
    When somebody loved me
    Everything was beautiful
    Every hour we spent together
    Lives within my heart
    When she loved me
    DELUSIONAL COPING AGAINST MELANCHOLY
    I've composed this poetry about how manageable one's deep melancholy can be, how the real surface of lunatic emotions can be diverted/shifted to a delusional coping mechanism. The poem I've written last APRIL 18, 2003 said a lot about that degree of sorrow and longing.
    Hey, you guys can check that poetry at my Journal Website:
    collapsis.blogspot.com
    Hope you get insights about it, and about the other journal poems i've created. Thanks, you guys. Let me know what you think about them/it alright?
    Here are stanzas from the poem I was talking about-
    (APRIL 18, 2003 from The Scouted journals):
    Now I am here
    Drowning
    under the heat that stayed beside me
    I feel it
    touching my body
    Unscrupulously
    Never have I encountered such intense heat
    that can burn my soul
    my mind awakens
    my body is about to tear
    Now the Heat speaks to me
    With bits of air like silent voices
    whispers
    I began to listen
    to silence
    To solitude
    And it says,
    “Now it is you and I
    All alone in the midst of emptiness
    I have stayed to awaken your senses
    to shine your existence with my light
    to feel your skin
    your beauty
    your Benevolence
    your unimaginable darkness
    your importance to this world.”
    (continued in the blog website cited)
    Thumbs up from Patch Adams
    "The poem used in the movie is by Pablo Neruda. It is Sonnet 17 of Neruda's 100 Love Sonnets available in English translation by Stephen Tapscott. It is this translation that Patch reads in the movie."
    I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
    or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
    I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
    in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
    I love you as the plant that never blooms
    but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
    thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
    risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.
    I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
    I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
    so I love you because I know no other way
    than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
    so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
    so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep."
    "When everything feels like the movies, and you bleed just to know you're alive" - from iris
    "And as the sun would set, you would rise
    Fall from the sky into paradise
    Is there no light in your heart for me
    You've closed your eyes, you no longer see
    "
    "There were no lies between me and you
    You said nothing of what you knew
    But there was still something in your eyes
    Left me helpless and paralysed
    "
    "You could give a million reasons change the world and change the tides, Could not give me the secrets of your heart and of your mind ,In the darkness that surrounds me now there is no peace of mind ,Your careless words undo me, leave the thought of us behind"
