Call Centers Anyone?

regarding Chiqoh's mail in the other topic... hmmm.... he/she has every right to feel that way, but mind you... the other threads had a lot to say as well. Work will always be work, fun at first, redundant until you retire... even for programmers who work with different projects, you will remain to do what you're doing... programming... I'm a programmer myself, but think about it... 4 years (more for others) trained you to do something... and it will mostly be the same and the same year after year... advance as you may in youro field, you will still remain in that realm. So to Chiqoh, work will always be boring and redundant... make friends and that's your ticket to keeping sane in the office. Don't look forward to pleasing your boss but to making friends... make a difference.

I suppose we'll all have something bad to say about our jobs, past or present. But after everyone's grown tired of Sykes vs e-Telecare vs People Support, I hope they learn something from all of this discussion.

I like to think that:

1) Just because a job didn't work out well for you, doesn't mean it won't work for anybody else. We're all different. Wish your company and your successor the best, and move on.

2) Before you burn any bridges always stop to think if you'll need to cross any of them on your way home.

3) Yes, we can complain here. But we are also here to help each other make the world a better place. So after pointing out your criticisms, propose some SOLUTIONS. That's how we can all move forward.

4) Boxing, wrestling, and martial arts are off topic here. If you're interested in that there's always Sports Central. The Rock is there, ready to help.

Oh, yes. Before I forget. The next time you feel like verbally trashing a job, think of the person who cleans your toilets, collects your garbage, or digs out the filth from the canals and septic tanks.

You may not want to do that, but someone has to. We are lucky that some people still do.

Personally, I wouldn't go for it, I always want to do something creative, never mind the difficulty... but it's your choice!

I am into this call center thing! Well, consider this one thing...a job is simply a job. Go in, work, excel, move up, and make friends. A person can never be satisfied is all I can say. For me, call centers is what we call an alternative work as compared to the desk job of 8-5 M-F! As for the things you will learn from the job, well it all really depends on the individual. For me, patience and understanding the client as well as the customer on a daily basis is rewarding and enriching as well. Consider growth...hmmm....growth for one in call centers depends on you yourself and no one else, same thing goes for other jobs. Its better to go to the top based on performance rather than based on age or school where you came from or even based on how long you have stayed in the company and I think call centers offer that type of work. For one thing, you can find me going to my job as a call agent M-F but its fine with me because I don't get to bring a lot of work home. (actually I don't bring work home!) This is best too because I can get to do other things at home or on weekends like learning new stuffs or playing sports! For those who have had bad experience with work whether in call centers or not, just move on...no point dwelling on the bad experiences in the past. Just continue with your ambition!

Anybody into the setup of PBXs or CPEs for Call Centers here? Anybody here from Lucent, Mitel, NEC, Nortel, Alcatel, Ericsson, Siemens? Naging virtual call center na ba ang buhay niyo?

Me, I work for an online call center, much like PeopleSupport.
I think it's pretty cool working here. And with internet technology, almost nothing is impossible.
