Since all of you are talking about these companies, lets now dig deeper and find out which company is better, if not the best?

There is no doubt that the winner is Etelecare. Statistically speaking, 90% of the employees are from Ateneo!!!

Is the objective of this discussion to compare the three companies?
If so, I suggest that everyone gather information about all three and list them all here for everyone to see. We can start with the following: a) No of employees b) Years in the business/years in Philippines c) Average starting salary d) Typical benefits e) Requirements for applicants f) Clients (if known) g) Sales and profitability h) Market capitalization i) Qualitative criteria Now, if you boys and girls can't even answer these questions without turning this thread into a flame war, then this thread closes. |

Sykes, ETelecare, PeopleSupport - and the winner is?
None of the Above Why? Based on my experience and my friends who is currently working in these three companies, Call centers like ETelecare, Sykes and Peoples Support don't give you the enough experience that you are looking for. If you were a graduate of Management degree who knows to surf the net or you plan to work as a customer support with the rest of your life these companies are the best place for you. But if you are aiming for a job which can give you the enough experience or skill in programming, design ...etc and have a 6 digit salary in the future, better not apply for these companies because call centers will just leave you professionally empty. In fact these companies have employees which have a degree of Physical therapy, Engineering, Computer Science, Architecture, Fine arts, Med techs, Microbiology, Pharmacy and others. But in my point of view, even a highschool student who is computer literate are capable of working in any of these companies. Working in call centers is more of decision making and a problem solver. It is true that first few months of working there will really make you happy because of the people, environment and salary. But after a year of working there I bet that you are one of the people who makes Job Sites the most visited site of the year and who is also thirst for knowledge. It is also so hard to find another job when you decided to leave the company because career wise your empty and fresh graduate are indeed more knowlegeable than you are. Unless you are transfering to another call center, like Etelecare to Sykes, Sykes to People Support, People support to ETelecare etc... you have the edge of transfering into one of these companies but having the same boring job. They do offer huge salaries, benefits and overtime pay to attract applicants. In fact you can have a salary of 17T (minus 3T tax) half the month if your social life is dead, or you work 16hrs a day and 7 days a week. But when it comes to appraisal, they are the worst, unless you're a favorite of your boss and be promoted. If you are working now in a company which gives you the enough exposure, experience and knowledge in your career but low salary don't ever think of applying to one of these companies because there will come a time that your current job will be recognized by highly paid companies which can give you more experience and give you a 6 digit salary. Not to mention, a lot of American companies are looking for experienced programmers here in the Philippines and are willing to sponsor working visas but if you came from a Customer support field don't expect of people from the US to run after you because anybody can do that stupid job. In this thread one might win but the people who are working there are the loosers. I bet those people who are against in my opinion are fresh employees, Network Administrators or have plans of managing one of these companies but those who are with me are employees in Customer or technical support who have better bachelor degrees or board passers who seeks or thirst for a job that will give them more opportunity and high earning salary than those people who plans to stay in one of these companies and be a customer support or professionally empty for the rest of their lives. Those who are fresh employees better think twice than to suffer and be a prisonner of customer service for the rest of your life...

I wholeheartedly agree on what Chiquoh wrote..... Seems to me na he is/was an employee of one of these companies. Masaya lang yan sa una, then matatauhan ka din at iisipin mong wala kang matututunan dito...

I really see no purpose in deciding which company is the best among the three as far as career opporunities are concerned. based on my limited experience with call centers....the employees don't stay there for very long because they realize that they're not learning anything from their stay or they stay there forever because they can't get jobs anywhere else....basically, I agree with everything that ChiQuoH said
and if the purpose of this thread is to compare the different companies based on their service...I see no point in it either because according to what CtrlAltDel said in a different thread: Quote:

Honestly, I don't think there is any winner here. All these companies are in the same industry but serve different clients. But I do believe that Etelecare is quite different from Sykes and PeopleSupport because of the fact that it caters to American clients. I don't think that it aims to compete with call centers here in the Philippines because of the fact that it is a call center that only does customer service for American clients. Etelecare's competitors would be call center's in the US. But I do believe that Etelecare, as of now is the only one as of now that is able to provide a complete and integrated package to their clients unlike the others. I also believe that Etelecare cannot be compared to the other two because it is the pioneer not in the call center industry but because it is the first outsourced call center for American clients that has been established here in the Philippines

well, i dont think its quite fair to compare the 3 companies. i mean, each has their own "beauty" if u guys know what im talkin about. the thread i put up about a week ago regarding one of the three companies got closed because they started comparing it with the other two. of course we're all entitled to our opinions, but puh-lease spare the 3 companies from that crap.

Thank you for writing. Everything you said is true... and yes, I’m a looser... What can i say, supot ako, supooot...but it doesn’t mean that if you stay in one of these companies you’ll be “professionally empty for the rest of your life”.. its great to work for these companies, believe me... I guess nasa tao na rin yun kung mag-eenjoy siya or not. Working for one of these companies gave me the time to study, teach, and even do freelance photography/writing— which, i think, a more demanding “professional” job can’t give me... I may be a looser but I have life... and I have no plans of becoming a manager or a network administrator, not yet... I’ll be a bigger looser if I do that... darating din ako sa status na yan, hindi ako nagmamadali... There’s a lot of programmers, professionals, CEOs out there who have the experience and skills to make it big time... but for all we know, empty sila inside... loosers sila!.. so, its not a question of being able to work to your full potential and earn big bucks... it’s all about fulfillment... I’m contented with what I’m doing, with what I have... you’re only a looser if you feel like it... empty and unfulfilled... Are you happy?.. if not, then i guess you now what you are... a big loser... err, looser... =) Sincerely, Erman Tech Support Engineer |

Your very correct about that Erman. It really depends on the person on how he or she sees the job. It's quite insulting to people who work in these call centers with regards to what ChiQuoh posted. I believe this character has some bitterness in him. Maybe it's your grammar, which is the reason why your butt was kicked, or why you were forced to kick your butt? At these trying times, jobs are hard to find. Everyone wants to enjoy life, so let them be. Let them be with their life. If you're disgusted with the way were treated, take a look at yourself first, and think why you are disgruntled. If your an SOB so am I, but, I go to the max in what I do and enjoy most. If your upset why bad mouth companies you've worked in before, besides, jobs (5digit salaries) are hard to come by. don't think of them to be blind, coz they are not, it's you who is BLIND.

ChiQuoH's comments to this topic were all true. I am also a customer support in one of these companies for a year now and believe me majority of the people here in this company also agreed to what ChiQuoH has posted. Even blackblade21 and nerbie understands our depressions because they are also in need of a more professional job and tired of this kind of job
As much as we want to leave this kind of job, we can't, because we need money. But we are still looking for a more challenging job and we are only working here to earn a living. Almost all of us here do have regrets because "talagang nakakabobo ang trabaho dito kahit kanino mo pa itanong" and afraid to be burried with this kind of career. Erman: You may be right but I want to ask you two questions: (1) Honestly, Do you really love your job or you just want this job because you have time to your part time jobs. (2) If an International Magazine company offers you a job in Photography (Photographer), would you grab it?..or stay in International Customer support firm and do your part time job? esc_to_resign: Date Registered: 08-05-2000 Status: Junior Member Total Posts: 1 Current Email: esc_verbal@hotmail.com Homepage: http:// Occupation: professional bum Location: Philippines Interests: music, cellfones Hey welcome to PEX. I bet you're a new employee in one of these companies because your profile is still professional bum. Goodluck to your work and I bet after some time you will realize everything that we are talking about. |

So Twisha, you think I'm new here at PEX? think again. One thing you guys are, you're all a bunch of hypocrites. More blind than I ever thought. I know majority of you here came from a Taft-based school, and of course you deserve a job wherein you can apply what you learned. Well there's one thing that is constant in this world, it's not being satisfied with what you have. Then why burn your smooth butts around with these companies, and find a job that fits yourselves. By the way Twisha, I've been working for one of these companies for almost a year now. I respect your sentiments, but please don't damage the company's image, and don't brainwash the employees who work in these companies. Learn to respect.
Shalom! |

To Twisha:
If you were offered a dream job wouldn't you take it? Who wouldn't? Hello? Ok ka lang? hanep naman sa tanong yan. para mo na rin tinanong "papano kung binigay sayo yun banko sentral para abusuhin? tatanggapin mo???" Sorry but what you're telling us here all the more describes your condition: unfulfilled, unsuccessful, and insecure. If you're all that good then maybe you should get your sorry *** off that office chair and find yourself a dream job. One that would probably make you and your empty wallet bulge... that is, if you're THAT GOOD. Also, you may want to stop whining about how depressed and regretful your are. DO SOMETHING NOW! To ChiQuoH: don't tell us you got all your info from all your friends. No one would know better than you. You sound like you just got your *** kicked from one of those companies due to your "grammar defects". Furthermore about your statements, I also thirst for knowledge, this is why up until now, I find time for schooling... don't ever depend on your job to quench your thirst for knowledge, it's just not the right place. Go to a school man! I suggest one who'd teach you the difference between "LOOSER" and "LOSER". (and this is only for starters) My two cents: frankly, I don't intend staying here all my life. Or I can say, I don't plan to be a Tech Support Engineer forever. I mean I don't mind being a permanent fixture in my present company as long as there's growth- personally, and professionally. In the grand scheme of things, self fulfillment and realization of this growth will matter most... it's not the company. If you're not satisfied with the way things are falling into place, then do something NOW. Quit your job and find a better one. One thing though, don't poison the well, don't sour grape, and don't whine and waste your time. |
