Depends on the Stock, but generally buy for me stay away from mining tho too many uncertainties right now. btw there's a new ipo round the corner CAL. anyway reposting from what i wrote in Philippine Investors Group, join our FB groups if you wanna learn more bout stocks, investments etc. share tsismis etc na ren.

Hi guys just a reminder: the offer period for Calata Corp (CAL) is from May 10 to 16, if you want to subscribe better call your brokers ASAP, if im not mistaken each brokerage is only given 54,000 shares so better reserve while still early. Offer price is only at 7.5 per share

Now for everyone who is not familiar with the company, CAL is the largest combined distributor of agro-chemicals, fertilizers, seeds, feeds and veterinary medicines in the country. It has partnerships with brands including B-Meg, Jardine, Bayer etc.

A lot of people are comparing this stock to AgriNurture Inc. (ANI) but they do not have the exact same business model. Whereas ANI is more into the finished process farm goods, CAL is into how the finished farm good is made. For example, ANI is into the sale of Pechay (processed already) while CAL is into how the pechay was made, from the sale of seeds to fertilizers, to insecticides etc.

Now if you think about it, the business of ANI and CAL goes hand in hand so i do not see any reason why CAL would not be able to mirror the movement of ANI's share price. Also note that CAL offer price is only 7.5 while ANI is at around 12. Additionally, ANI is about to breakout any time soon if you would study its price movement. both have more or less the same capitalization with ANI at more than 3B while CAL is at 2.7B after IPO. Revenues of CAL in 2011 reached P2B which is at par with the P2.25B total consolidated revenues of ANI

CAL is also into the sale of hog and chicken feeds as well as farming and if im not mistaken supplies chicken to Monterey and Magnolia. ANI does not have this. they also plan to expand its retail stores which will surely continue to improve the company's sales.

I am really bullish on this stock, just imagine all the jollibee, mang inasal, pizza hut etc. we eat is connected one way or another to CAL.

Calata is very expensive. Revenue comparison is deceiving. What's important is the bottomline.

I was handed this data: Calata's PBV ratio is a staggering 4.2x while PER is more than 24x. It's super expensive!!!

There are so many bargains in the market right now. AC, MER, MEG, MBT, GTCAP, MPI, EDC, RLC, AGI all have very good valuations. They're all proven and have solid track records. What's more, they're all cheaper than Calata.

My question is: Why invest in an expensive unknown when we can invest in cheaper winners?

    Quotable Quote! 100% agree!

we dont consider BV only in trading, we should also consider possible market sentiment (supply/demand) FYI CAL public float is only 10% and it is already oversubscribed as of posting date. i subscribed via ipo btw. anyway this will surely go up on the 23s esp. due to tight supply

  5. #1225
Nobody can discount the fact that this stock would possibly be played because of the small float. In fact, I'm 100% sure that's the main reason why the public subscribed to this IPO.

The issue is this: If this is pushed up and the gullible public follows then the jockeys started cashing out, who'd be left with an empty bag at the end of the day? Things could happen anytime.

Yes. It does have fundamentals, but the long and short of it is that it's too expensive.

MEG - If you see the charts, 1 year of bearish chart has now come to an end. It broke 2php recently and I am positive with this because there are a lot project lining up for 2012. *Just Google them*

PHES - Recently PHES has been trying to break 1php. This is possible because of the plastic city project in Marikina together with Ayala has been signed already.

MEG is down now. Below 2php. Hope have some more dough to buy more...

I already submitted my application in Citiseconline and just waiting for their reply. I will try first the peso cost averaging for my retirement fund. Sa mga blue chip companies based sa research ko sa internet like Ayala Land , BPI, Metrobank, Jollibee or PLDT (mahal nga lang) saan maganda maginvest ng long term...

aral-aral ka muna kung ano dapat bilhin. The companies you mentioned above are really big. pero as first timer sa stock market, it would make you feel better kung green ang portfolio mo during your first month. Like my experience, bumili ako ng ALI nung March, pabagsak na pala.. hehe There's two things you can do in this situation. 1. Wait for the price to go up again (thats for sure coz ALI is a Blue Chip company) 2. Sell it at a loss. Its okay! Just transfers your stock to another company which market price is more likely to go up soon.

I did the latter. At nabawi ko rin agad yung loss ko. Galing ng mentor ko e. Im a TrulyRichClub member. Gusto ko lang i-share mga blessing na nakukuha ko sa kanila.

    @ semikotne

Better siguro if you diversify a bit rin. Mentioned above are blue chip companies in the property sector pa lang. If you have more funds, pili ka na rin sa ibang sectors like mining, banking, industrial, services, holdings, so in case na bagsak ang isang sector, di mahihila pababa yung buong portfolio mo.
