hi babe...pareho pala tayong ng doctor. how often do you see her? i was there 2 weeks ago. teka...pano ba mag-join sa EndoPhil?

sam...may question ako. di ba you took ladogal? did your period stop totally? kasi ako...may bleeding ako minsan. parang nagulo talaga cycle ko. last month, i had slight bleeding on days when i was supposed to menstruate. sabi ng doctor ko, ok lang daw 'yon. this month naman...longer yong spotting ko. i read some literature on ladogal and it said that some women still have their period even when they're taking ladogal. ano experience mo? hay...one thing pa, grabe ang skin breakout ko.

question lang sis, yung ladogal ba eh contraceptive or is it formulated to shrink the cyst?

honeybi - yes, go and see another doctor. puntahan mo nalang kaya si dr. martinez sa medical city para mas ok. yung ob ko kasi under ng medicard (insurance namin) pero ok din sya.

babe - ilan na ba members ng endophil? and were you the one who organize it?

anghel...ladogal is antiestrogen (according to the literature i read). and according to my doctor, it's meant to suppress estrogen production....kasi di ba ang endometriosis feeds on estrogen. tama ba babe?

PearlM: yup, my period totally stopped when i took ladogal. cool. no period for about 6 months. it was a relief for me because my periods were really painful - debilitating.

side effect ng ladogal for me: i got bloated. yun lang. didn't have the facial hair, and the lower voice.

endometriosis feeds on estrogen? di ganun ang pagkaka-explain sa kin eh. the way my ob-gyn explained it, the objective was for me to stop bleeding. endometriosis simply means that you have uterine cells outside the uterus. in my case, as it is with all the other cases here, it was in the ovaries. being uterine cells, they undergo the same shedding and bleeding every month. wala naman lalabasan, hence the cysts. since ladogal, as my doctor said, simulates hormones during pregnancy, she was hopeful that the inactivity will lead the cells to die a natural death. that's why pregnancy is one of the proposed solutions for endometriosis. but it is not always a guarantee, as i've seen in my case, because the cysts do recur, and that's why i got prescribed with birth control pills afterwards, so i don't have heavy periods.

anghel: ladogal is not a contraceptive, but because it's supposed to suppress ovulation, you are deemed safe when you're taking it. that's how i understood it anyway. and if i remember the accompanying literature right, it is formulated to shrink the cysts.

h0neybi: not everybody who has endometriosis has cysts. it's just that in all the cases here, we all have uterine cells inside our ovaries. but the uterine cells can grow in other areas as well. so cysts are not the only indication of endometriosis. but if you're not comfortable with your doctor, by all means, find another one that you're comfortable with. it's harder for you to get well if you can't trust your doctor.

Sam...ganito naman intindi ko, based on my doc's explanation and from what i've read.

you're right...endometriosis means that endometrial cells attach and grow outside of the uterus (ovaries, fallopian tubes, other abdominal organs). now...di ba estrogen is the hormone that causes the endometrium to thicken? that's why i said endometriosis "feeds" on this hormone. estrogen is actually the major stimulus for the growth of endometriosis. estrogen is released during ovulation. so, as long as women ovulate and menstruate, endometriosis is a possibility. kaya sinisimulate ang cessation of ovulation and menstruation by taking these medications.

ladogal is meant to suppress estrogen production or lower it to menopausal levels. kaya tawag sa kanya hormone inhibitor/antiestrogen. when the release of estrogen is supressed, the endometrium doesn't thicken (that's why menstrual flow stops). eventually...ectopic endometrial tissues degenerate and endometrial cysts shrink.

    paging babe...tama ba intindi ko?

    Post More on EndoPhil egroups

    Hi, girls.

I've added PearlM to the EndoPhil groups directly, and sent an invitation to Honeybi (Since I got your emails).

For Anghel and Angelbutterfly, PM me your emails, and I'll add you directly if you'd like. Or just send a blank email to EndoPhil-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

Sige na, there are more knowledgable people there.

I'm not really sure about the Lagodal -- I'm taking PrimulutN. Ask Sam7268.

Just remember, Endometriosis is a disease/condition that doesn't really have a "cure" persay (unless you get a hysterectomy).

You can have endo, but no cysts. It just means you have this tendency to grow cysts.

Anyway, since Anghel mentioned that her doctor is getting more and more cases, please do let them know about the online support group.

    It really helps!

    Post dermoid cysts

i had dermoid cysts in both of my ovaries. the doctor had to take it out coz my fallopian tube was already twisted. the cyst ate up my entire left ovary.

    the pain was totally unbearable.

i only have 50% of my right ovary left!

UttamiTaya, how big was the cyst on your left ovary? Also, what is a "dermoid" cyst?

My cyst is 7cm on my right ovary (and I have a 2cm myoma on my left ovary..)

Wow! I'm so sorry I haven't been posting. I don't really have that much time to go online these days.

Thanks for the comments you guys gave. I already went to my doc and I have to be back for a sonogram. I'm really scared coz she looked so worried when she did an IE.

I'm the type who's scared of medical consultations and check-ups. I just freak out everytime I have to go visit. But hopefully I'd have the time and the courage to go back again and get a sonogram.

I really appreciate your sharing. Thank God for PEX and people like you I can turn to.

    I'll keep you posted.

Hi! I hope you could still reply here. I have an Endometrial cyst on my left and right ovary. The right ovarian cyst is 5.9 cm and I was advised to undergo surgery because I already feel pain on my pelvis and lower back and abdomen. I wanted laparoscopy but they were telling me I need to undergo laparotomy. Is there a hospital which is offering laparoscopy for an price I can afford? Any suggestions? I am only 22.
