Sue Bird!

anybody here following the career of Sue Bird (#1 draft pick, Seattle Storm) in the 2002 WNBA? i've seen two of their first three games on tv (both W's!), and i would have to say that this girl is ready to play in the big league.

she is really fun to watch (reminds me of john stockton, with her natural point guard talents - passing, shooting and over-all on-court leadership) and she is way too cute! i know it's a long shot, but i'm hoping she can lead her team to the playoffs, just as she led the UCONN huskies to a perfect 39-0 record en route to the 2002 national championship.

oo nga 'no, never thought of her name as having a different connotation (funny, even). hehe.. by the way, though sue shares the surname of the great larry bird, as far as i know, they are not in any way related.

the seattle storm is on a roll! they picked up another win (their third straight in 4 starts) last night at the expense of the defending eastern conference champs charlotte sting. next up, the utah starzz!

although sue bird struggled (4-of-13 shooting) , she still led all scorers with 17 points, and added 7 assists.

anyway, i was wondering, does anybody know if Vintage Sports is gonna cover the WNBA after the NBA finals?

some background info:

went to UConn

played a couple of games in her freshman year. sat out the rest of the season because of an acl injury

sophomore year:
teamed up with svetlana abrosimova(plays for minnesota in the wnba) to win the ncaa tournament

junior year:

UConn lost to Ruth Riley led Notre Dame in the Final Four. sayang ito... tambak na nila Notre Dame nung half time... oh well

senior year:

led by Bird, UConn was simply awesome this year. won the ncaa tournament with a record of 39-0 and won with an average lead of around 38 points. third time in history that a team was able to sweep the tournament. Bird was awarded a Naismith award. First team All-America... atsaka dami pang awards....


and of course, she's now making waves in the wnba

But I have heard of Sue Bird, although I've never seen her play. Galing daw sobra... Ala-Rebecca Lobo pala, 39-0 season? Galing talaga ng women's basketball program ng UConn!

Holdsclaw? Yup, she's really good... She's still pretty young, but she's already a WNBA star. I just wish Nike gave her better shoes, di ko gusto yung Mique

shutup: thanks for the recap! when did you first learn about sue bird? first time ko siyang napanood sa ncaa finals (uconn vs. the stacey dales-schuman-led oklahoma). since then, i've been following her career.. (wnba draft, wnba 2002) 'yung espn dito sa states nagpapalabas ng wnba games, although during the regular season, 1 game lang ng seattle (vs. portland) ang nasa sked nila.

miss_d: sana mapanood mo si sue bird in action. di ko alam kung ipapalabas ng viva vintage sports ang wnba after the nba finals. they just might..
