    Philippine History books

Can anyone recommend any good Philippine history books? I really enjoyed reading the works of Ambeth Ocampo. Another insight of history, hindi pang eskwela.

How about yung books specific sa history of Manila?

Sasabihin ko sana kawawa naman yun author but that first pdf in a Google search is a review. Unfortunately, negative.

i don't want to be the authors' apologist, but of course, we always don't have to believe everything we read, especially in history. historians always disagree, that's why we have to be careful in appreciating facts.

Yes, of course. The reviewers points did seem pretty solid, though. Anyway, I haven't read it yet. So I'll withhold judgment.

I read some portions of it, pero not the whole book. I like most of it so far, just reading some books na maganda daw, but find the content repetitive (those malcolm gladwell books).

There's the books by Ambeth Ocampo.

A very nice book about the author's experiences during WW2 is "It Took Four Years for the Rising Sun to Set" (or something like that). Sorry, forgot authors' name.

Try reading The Other Philippine History Textbook (books 1 & 2). They're a different take on Philippine history, sans the heavy emphasis on cumbersome facts that only history buffs can bear. They're also fun to read and very insightful and frank. A breath of fresh air in a subject matter that has had a musty smell for a long time. A must-read!!!

constantino doesn't know jack about historiography. Besides komunista sya kaya bias sya sa history. Nawala ko past revisited na libro nya ni recommend ng professor who i suspect is also a firebrand. Plagiarizer pa .
