Ay Daga!

We seem to be have a few little critters in the house.

I want to place Racumin all over the place, but my pregnant wife is scared of seeing dead rats on the floor.

How do I get rid of them?

hmmm.
pag bubwit pa lang sila just throw around fly papers on corners - preferably on areas na walang access ang pets. Ang prob lang pati butiki madadamay. Put them at night then at early morning bago magising wife mo, checkin mo na lahat ng fly papers at idispose yung me mga nahuli.

I plan to use those sticky mats.

Pero nakakatawa man. Minsan nandidiri rin ako.

mice and rats e dumadaan lagi sa sides so not necessarily sa corners ilalagay. Pag me ebs yung gilid then better put a mat na katabi ng gilid. Make precautions nga na tipong di nga accessible sa pets mo yung mat. Poisonous ata yung mat e.

Rid your house of food droppings, keep away food and edible stuff and seal your kitchen trash bin. Put your sticky mats in hidden but accessible areas so there'd be no risk of your wife being horrified by the sight of a twitchng mouse stuck on the mat in the middle of the night if she'd ever need to pee or go to the fridge.

Maliliit na bisita lang sila, not the scary looking ones.

Sa kitchen ko nakikita yung droppings so I guess yun ang target nila. One time, my wife had to throw away our food from the cupboard kasi butas butas na yung mga cover ng pagkain. We don't really cook so mga kinakain namin ay either canned or in a box. In short, processed.

Anyway, about mats, one time my wife told me na may natrap dun sa mat na nilagay ko sa kitchen. Pagbaba ko, wala na.

Post #9 (rendaku) have excellent suggestions. In addition to plugging holes, make sure your foundation screen vents are tightly meshed with wire mesh preferably size 200 (about less than 1cm square spacings).

When plugging holes, you can use steel wool type foam then apply some type of a construction nail caulking for adhesion to surfaces. This type if caulking achieves wire or nail strength adhesion to concrete or wood so that these mice and rats can't bite their way inside.

If these rats are in the kitchen, they are likely to have come from holes under kitchen cabinets. Locate all possible holes and plug. These rats would come from the foundation through openings in foundation vents. Some can come in from holes on top of roofs and into the ceiling, then down to walls and under foundation and into kitchen cabinets.

Once all openings and entries are sealed and plug, these rats cannot find their way inside your house. Those rats that are trapped inside will either be killed by traps you place under foundation, under kitchen cabinets, up on the ceiling, and in corners where their droppings can be found. Others will die of starvation usually within a week without access to food and water.

All your entry doors must have screen doors/storm doors in addition to your door. These screen doors/storm doors must be installed from the outside of the house, not inside the house. The storm doors are usually employed for energy efficiency to keep hot temperature outside and to prevent draft. Make sure all doors do not provide openings. Ideally, all doors must be flushed and seated properly when closed. Same with all windows.

Either dinispose na ng wife mo yung mat, mahina yung mat na nagamit [which I don't think so unless you buy those things at 168 lol] o hindi na bubwit ang problema mo - masmalalaki na.

Tama nga si rendaku regarding sa food - pag trash mo better invest on those sturdy ones that have heavy doors or take the kitchen trash out every evening. Also, never leave unwashed dishes at night or any time. Dadami ang ipis at daga din pag ganun and it affects the quality ng silverware and even the plates kahit chinaware o stoneware pa yan.

Are your dogs outdoors? If yes you should get a cat and keep it indoors.

We used to have a cat, who basically killed all the vermin in the house. And kept them away. Now that we don't have a cat, the mice and other vermin came back.

pag may sawa sa bahay for sure wala daw daga

kahit maliliit lang iyan it still means na may nanay yan somewhere, tama sila use the mat and cover those holes. may mga ganyan sa office namin dati especially kse we just leave food around ayun madami sila nakakain. look for the big rat and eventually the small ones might disappear as well.

Retro we have the same problem. Here are a few tips:

Small vermin ie mice, mouses, meese (indoor)
- spread sticky mats on one occasion only and spread a lot of them. I also think the cries of the surviving trapped mice warn the other mice to avoid the sticky traps. Kaya schedule mo itong sticky trap barrage at nighttime. As soon as you lay out the traps, kill the lights and leave it overnight. In the morning ang daming huli nyan I bet. Don't burn the traps while the mice are still alive. I suggest kill all the trapped mice with the bottom part of a big bottle. Crush their little heads with it for a quick painless death.

Big rats (outdoors)
- I hate this vermin with every once of my body (and that's a lot of hate). They chewed up the electricals of my two motorcycles costing me thousands in repair. I used a cage type trap baited with a leftover fishhead. In the morning, I just drown the little critter (cage and all) in a pail of water. Then wash the cage and rub a "tuyo" fish all over the cage to hide any scent left by the previous occupant.

MYTH (for busting/confirmation): A carpenter once tipped us to mix cement (powder) with ordinary food. When the rats ingest the food daw, they also ingest the cement and will cause severe constipation that will totally block all bowel movement. I haven't tried it yet though.
