TOTONG-TOTOO NA PALA ang balita na si Mark Anthony Fernandez ang “Bagong Crush Ng Bayan.”


Kung todo-todong tinilian siya sa Araneta Coliseum nu’ng b-day blow-out nina Dingdong Dantes at Marian Rivera, kapag napupunta siya sa SM Southmall, sobra-sobra na ang pagkakagulo ng mga fans na tinatawag siyang “Cyrus.” Ito ang pangalan niya sa Ako Si Kim SamSoon. Hindi po siya si Kim doon, kundi ang leading lady niyang si Regine Velasquez (his lucky charm).


As if hindi pa sapat ang bagong attention na ibinibigay sa kanya ng mga fans na sumusubaybay sa ASKS heto, marami na po ang tumatawag sa inyong lingkod at humihingi ng tulong kung paano siya mako-contact para sa commercials.
“Ang guwapo-guwapo niya talaga, Tita Chit!” Anang isa. “Kung nahihirapan kang kontakin si Kuwan (minention niya ang namesung ng Orig choice nila), si Mark na. Baka, hindi ka papahirapan.”


Mas madali nga ‘ika kong kontakin si Mark, dahil madaling tawagan sina kumareng Lolit Solis, LT at maging si Alma Moreno. At hindi ako ipapasa-pasa sa kung sinu-sinong handler na hindi naman sumasagot sa cellphone, hindi rin nagte-text back or nagre-return call, samantalang grasya na itong inaalok namin sa kanya. Sayang ang pagmamalasakit ng mga nakapaligid sa kanya. Binibigyan na ng BLESSing (intended ang all caps niyan for the clue) at mismong magiging kasama niya sana sa commercial. Sayang ang malaking respeto ko sa kanyang parents na alam kong welcome na welcome ang blessing na ito).


Anyways, his loss is Mark’s gain, kung saka-sakali.


Nagsisilbi ring angel sa buhay nina Mark (at LT, siyempre) ang sumakabilang buhay na nilang mahal sa buhay, si Rudy ‘Daboy’ Fernandez. Nu’ng libing pa lang, marami na ang umakbay kay Mark, nangangakong ipagdarasal ang tagumpay niya sa showbiz at pagtulong sa kanyang career. Kasama na ang inyong lingkod, promise.

SPEAKING OF MARK, the last time I was with him & his mom Alma Moreno sa kanyang b-day last year, ipinakilala sa amin sina Cameron at Chelsea. Naroon sila kasama ang iba’t iba pa nilang mga pamangkin at kamag-anak.

Kung makakalkal sana ng Pinoy Parazzi ang larawang kuha sa okasyong iyon na nalathala sa mismong column na ito, makikita ang pruebang binabanggit ko. In the next generation of kids, tiyak na mapapasama sina Chelsea at Cameron kung papayagan nina Mark at Ness na mag-artista.


Incidentally hahabulin talaga ng suwerte si Mark, dahil he has the making of a potential superstar (napabayaan lang niya). Mabait din siyang anak kina Daboy, LT at Ness at kapatid (nina Vandolf, Renz at Ralphe).


Mark has also suffered enough frustration to make him a better actor na siyang unang napansin sa kanya sa pelikulang Matimbang Pa Sa Dugo na pinagsamahan nila ni Daboy.

Nag-react ang fans ni Mark Anthony Fernandez sa nasulat naming after Ako si Kim Samsoon, isang fantasy-drama ang gagawin nito sa GMA-7 at kabilang sa makakasama’y sina Yasmien Kurdi at Keempee de Leon.

In-email kami ng fans ng actor para sabihing hindi sila pabor na fantasy-drama ang next project nito at dapat, isang project na magpapalabas ng husay nito sa acting at kasing-tindi ng ASKSS.

May gumawa pa ng petition sa PEX para ipaalam sa Channel 7 na ’di sila pabor sa fantasy-drama at pati ’yon ay na-forward sa amin.

Huwag mag-alala ang fans at alam ng istasyon kung paano aalagaan si Mark at hindi nila sasayangin ang nasaksihan nina Wilma Galvante at Rams David, EP ng ASKSS, kung paano pagkaguluhan ang actor sa Araneta Coliseum at personal appearances nito.

May request na i-feature siya sa Obra at may gustong muli silang pagsamahin ni Sunshine Dizon.

Posible ito dahil ang actress ang next featured artist sa Obra after JC de Vera. Gustong manalo ng acting award ni Mark at alam niyang lalabas ang galing niya sa action-drama.

“Nakikita ko ang sarili ko, alam ng puso ko at na-realize kong pang-action-drama ako. Gusto ko rin ng directing, pero sabi ni Papa (the late Rudy Fernandez) sa acting na lang ako,” ayon kay Mark.

HINDI maikakaila ang pagiging super proud mom ni Jennylyn Mercado sa kanyang baby na si Jazz. Habang hindi pa bumabalik sa kanyang showbiz career, very hands-on pa nga si Jennylyn sa pag-aalaga ng kanyang anak.

Featured star in four episodes in this month’s Obra, the new drama anthology aired Thursday nights on GMA (after the Telebabad shows), is JC de Vera who did an impressive performance in the initial episode titled Pretty Boy the other night, playing a handsome young man forced to work as a macho dancer to keep body and soul together. Written and directed by Rodolfo “Jun” Lana, Pretty Boy pitted JC against such veterans as Gina Alajar (playing JC’s ex-bar-girl mom) and Chanda Romero (as JC’s Sugar Mommy).

“I was worried that people would watch the episode for the macho-dancing and would not notice my acting,” said JC. Luckily, that was not what happened. JC beautifully acquitted himself in his dramatic scenes with Gina and with Chanda. “The dancing part was easy because I dance naman talaga sa S.O.P. During the shoot, there were real macho dancers on the set to coach me. They were also part of the scene.”

That single performance (which should get a nod from the Philippine Movie Press Club’s Star Awards for Television) easily ranked JC (along with, among a few others, Jason Abalos and Sid Lucero) with the actors-next-in-line to the likes of (the more senior ones) Christopher de Leon, Aga Muhlach and Richard Gomez, and (the junior ones) the likes of Piolo Pascual and Jericho Rosales. It’s JC’s most markado performance, several ratings higher than those in the other GMA drama shows like (Telebabad’s) Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita, (Sine Novela’s) Pati Ba Pintig ng Puso and Pasan Ko ang Daigdig, and a few fantasy-adventure series (Sugo, Captain Barbell, etc.).
“I never intended to be an actor,” confessed JC who was introduced in the GMA youth-oriented show Click five years ago when he was 17 (Pisces, March 10, 1986) and a high-schooler at Colegio de San Agustin (where he studied from grade school); he’s now an Associate in Arts freshman at UPOU. “Somebody introduced me to Tita Annabelle (Rama) who agreed to manage me even if she doesn’t usually manage male talents. Now, I can’t imagine myself doing anything else but acting.” He’ll soon be seen in another GMA show, La Lola, with Eddie Garcia, Keempee de Leon, Marvin Agustin, Rhian Ramos, Eula Valdez, et al.

The next three episodes on Obra are Dearest Daddy (playing a young man about to get married when he discovers that his father and uncle are gay), Rehas (about the plight of an innocent inmate who succumbs to the wicked culture of the penitentiary) and Liwanag sa Dilim (the story of a disabled person searching for love and a miracle), directed by Joel Lamangan, Maryo J. delos Reyes and Mac Alejandre.

John Carlo de Vera stands 5’8”; weighs 150 lbs.; has a 30-inch waistline; and wears small-size shirt, 30/31-inch briefs and size-9 shoes.

What kind of diet do you have?

“Mostly fish and chicken. I used to eat meat but not anymore. Rice once in a while, only when I have to work out or I have lots of work so I can have carbo to burn. I take lots of fruits (banana, orange, apple, pineapple, etc.). For breakfast, I take cereals. Every now and then, sinangag with daing na bangus or tuyo. For lunch, a bit heavy, always with salad. For dinner, veggies na lang and fruits. For snacks, peanut-butter sandwich; no junk food, please!”

How much water do you take every day?

“I should be taking eight glasses of water but I can’t. I make up for it with juices, mostly fresh orange juice with pulp bits. It’s good daw, nakakatanggal ng mga bato sa system. Also, cranberry juice which is good daw for the urinary tract.”

Hard (alcoholic) drinks?

“Black or Blue Label. But in moderation; social drinking.”

How much sleep do you get per night?

“An average of six hours. But when I have no work, I can sleep for 14 hours straight or the whole day.”

Favorite sleep wear.
“Boxers and, since I sleep with the aircon turned on full blast, with a loose over-sized shirt.”

Never in the nude?

“Never! Hindi ako nasanay ng ganoon, even if I sleep alone.”

Last thing that you do before you go to sleep?

“Eat something light, such as cereals. Midnight snack ‘yon.”
And the first thing that you do when you wake up?
“Go to the CR.”
Do you snore?
“Doesn’t everybody snore? I do kapag pagod, especially since I’m hyperactive.”

Do you talk in your sleep?

“I guess I do, especially when I’m dreaming.”
Do you sleepwalk?

“No, I don’t.”
How do you cope with stress?

“I have shoulder massage at the studio. There are masseurs at GMA. I listen to music, all kinds. When I have no work, I pamper myself with a spa treat.”

When you want to get away from it all, where do you go?

“I drive alone to Tagaytay. Wala lang. I buy fruits. We live in Parañaque and Tagaytay is the most ideal place to go, pinaka-malapit sa lugar namin and yet pinaka-malayo na puede kong puntahan. The drive back and forth is very relaxing.”

What kind of workout do you do?

“I have a gym set at home and a stationary bike. If I have time to spare, I play basketball; I also box. Or I go to Gold’s Gym (in Robinsons Galleria).”

What part of your body needs improvement?

“My abs. That’s the hardest to trim and to maintain, especially among us actors na nagpupuyat at kain nang kain for energy. It takes me time to trim my abs, mga two months at most.”

What part is vulnerable?

“My feet.”
And what part is your favorite?

“My shoulders. They are broad.”
You have a scar on your upper lip (like that of Joaquin Phoenix), which adds character to your personality. How did you get it?

“When I was in prep school, nakikipaghabulan ako sa classmate ko, I slipped and I hit my face on the corner of a table. I also have a scar on my eyebrow.”

What part of a girl’s body do you look at first?

“The eyes. If she smiles, so much the better.”
What else about a girl turns you on?

“A tight butt, ‘yung parang sa mga Negra. It’s very attractive. I’m a butt person; hindi ako mahilig sa boobs.”

And what turns you off?

“Those with dirty toenails. If they are not clean, it means hindi sila hygienic. If what you see is not clean, how much more what you don’t see? And also, I don’t like girls who don’t shave their armpits. Sobrang turn-off sa akin ‘yon.”

How’s your love life?

“Now? Boring. Zero! I don’t have a girlfriend. When you are very busy, it’s hard to find time for girls.”

How many girls have you been linked to?

“Well, there was Pauleen (Luna), Michelle (Madrigal) and Yasmien (Kurdi).”

What about your sex life?

“‘Yon din ‘yung mahirap ipaliwanag. But if you are a man, it’s hard not to have sex in three months. Naisisingit naman siya, although hindi madalas. Kailangan, eh.”

Nightlife?
“Masaya. Okay. I am one of the investors in Barracks (a bar located on Tomas Morato Ave., Quezon City; other investors are mostly from showbiz). I go there as often as I can. Doon ako umiinom, doon ako may nakikilala, you know.”

What’s your outlook in life?

“I’m happy-go-lucky; optimistic. I don’t worry. Wala akong problema sa buhay. Offers keep coming. Moody? No, I’m not. But when I just wake up, kapag bagong gising ako, medyo grumpy ako. But the moment I have my first cup of coffee, okay na ang mood ko.”

Name three girls you think have nice bodies.
“Pauleen. Michelle. Yasmien.”
And three men...
“David Beckham. Ryan Reynolds. Marc Nelson. They are my idols, my role models.”

Using only body language, how would you make a girl know that you admire her?

“I stare and stare at her. Hindi ko siya tinatantanan, maski saan siya magpunta. My friends know that. Tumititig lang ako sa girl, sa bawat galaw niya.”

According to the official website of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATS), three entries from the Philippines have made it to the list of regional semi-finalists for this year's International Emmy Awards.



Two shows of the Kapamilya Network were able to make the cut: Pangarap Na Bituin is one of six regional semi-finalists for the Telenovela category while the fantaserye Volta is the semi-finalist for Comedy. Pangarap Na Bituin (international title: Dream of a Star) was topbilled by the Jewel Sisters, portrayed by Sarah Geronimo, Rica Peralejo, and Maja Salvador. Ai-Ai delas Alas is the title character of Volta, which is a spin-off of the movie of the same name. Directed by Wenn Deramas (who also helmed the silver screen version four years ago), Volta is set to compete with seven other entries for the next round of eliminations.



GMA-7 star Iza Calzado is the country's representative in the category Best Performance by an Actress. The actress is nominated for her primetime show Joaquin Bordado, wherein she played the wife of Robin Padilla.



Last year, ABS-CBN's news program Bandila became the first official nomination of the Philippines to the Emmy's. In 1995, GMA-7 qualified as a finalist for a Special Emmy Award.



Founded in 1969, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is an organization of global broadcasters, with members from over 65 countries and over 400 companies. The Academy aims to recognize excellence in television programming produced outside of the United States, and it presents the International Emmy Award to programs in fifteen categories. The awards are presented at the International Emmy Awards Gala, held each year in November in New York City.

Mark Herras, open sa posibilidad na makipagbalikan kay Jennylyn Mercado


Ngayong nakapanganak na si Jennylyn Mercado ng kanyang baby (Jazz) kay ex-boyfriend na si Patrick Garcia, umaasa siya na tatanggapin pa rin ng tao ang kanyang comeback.

Marami pa rin naman ang supportive sa kanya lalung-lalo na ang kanyang mga kaibigan at mga fans. Hindi rin bumitaw sa kanya ang ex-boyfriend at ka-loveteam niyang si Mark Herras at ibang kasamahan sa Starstruck 1.

Gusto rin ni Mark na mabalik ang tambalan nila ni Jen dahil naniniwala siya na kahit may anak na ito ay may following pa rin sila dahil hindi naman nagbago sa kanila ang kanilang mga tagahanga.

Tinanong din si Mark kung posible bang mainlab siyang muli sa dating kasintahan.

“Siguro, panahon lamang ang maka*pagsasabi kung magiging kaming muli ni Jen,” ani Mark na excited na muling makatrabaho ang ka-loveteam.

Jennylyn Mercado returns to the big screen via "One Night Only"

Maraming tagahanga ng young actress na si Jennylyn Mercado ang matutuwa sa balitang nakuha ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal). Ayon sa mismong PR manager ng OctoArts Films na si Ms. Aster Amoyo ay kasama na si Jennylyn sa cast ng One Night Only. Ito ang magsisilbing comeback project ng kauna-unahang StarStruck Ultimate Female Survivor pagkatapos niyang isilang ang anak nila ng dati niyang boyfriend na si Patrick Garcia.



Ang One Night Only ay isa sa dalawang entries ng film company ni Boss Orly Ilacad sa 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). Ang isa pa ay ang reunion movie nina Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, at Joey de Leon na Iskbul Bukol 20 Years After (The Adventures of Victorio Ungasis and the Escalera Brothers).



Makakasama ni Jennylyn sa One Night Only sina Katrina Halili, Diana Zubiri, Paolo Contis, Alessandra de Rossi, Ricky Davao, Jon Avila, Candy Panglinan, Chokoleit, Jason Gainza, at ang mga kapatid ni Jennylyn sa management ni Becky Aguila na sina Valerie Concepcion at Joross Gamboa.



Matatandaang noong unang prinesenta ang One Night Only sa screening committee ng MMFF ay kasama sa cast ang ilan sa prime talents ng Star Magic, ang talent arm ng ABS-CBN. Pero napabalitang pinull out ang mga ito dahil ayaw raw ng Star Magic na magmukhang suporta ang mga alaga nila kay Katrina, na isang Kapuso star.



Ang bagay na ito ay hindi kinumpirma ng Star Magic at maging ng ilan sa mga artistang naunang naugnay sa pelikula. Pero sa presscon para kay Katrina noon kasabay ng pagpirma niya ng kontrata sa OctoArts Films, nabanggit ni Boss Orly ang mga pangalan nina Angelica Panganiban, Diether Ocampo, at Roxanne Guinoo na kasama rin sa pelikula na ididirek ni Joey Reyes.



Pinagtalunan kasi noon kung sino ang magiging bida sa One Night Only at kung sino ang mauuna sa billing kung natuloy nga si Katrina at ang ilang Star Magic talents. Pero nilinaw naman ni Direk Joey na ang istorya ng pelikulang siya rin ang sumulat ay iikot sa lahat ng characters sa isang motel sa loob lamang ng isang magdamag.



Huling napanood si Jennylyn sa pelikula sa pamamagitan ng Half Blood Samurai.
