kadiri naman, This thread has been infiltrated by stupid opus dei idiots who claim that the Philippines is not over populated. Yes, as a whole, the country is not overpopulated - we still have acres of virgin forests and there's plenty of space in the provinces. The problem is that in the urban centers, the rate of population increase is at an incredible pace. The sectors of the urban sectors that could shoulder this increase are already bursting at the seams.

Jeez, trademark opus dei stupidity.

Amazing how you contradict yourself.

You said so yourself--the overpopulated areas are the urban centers. How does that mean the country is overpopulated? See, you simply contradict yourself in your post. You just make an argument for the sake of argument, and nothing else. Now, as to urban overpopulation, the solution there is to make the rural areas more conducive to growth and production. That should be the aim of government, so that people will not congregate into urban areas. Again, as you can see, the problem isn't population, but rather more on how resources are handled, and how government handles its economic policies.

Heh, looks like this remark backfired spectacularly. Oh yeah, for the record, I am in no way associated with Opus Dei, aside from my being Catholic.

that's the most absurd reasoning i ever heard in a long time.
hindi lang mga katoliko ang maraming mga anak!
sana isinama na rin yung mga nanay at tatay, kasi kung hindi sila nag-anak, o kaya si eba at si adan.

So we solve urban overpopulation by making more babies in the urban areas were the rate of population growth is greater?! Hurray for catholic logic. The only way to make rural areas conducive for higher economic activity is to make the system more efficient. Though population control is not the and all and be all of this strategy, it is an integral part of cleaning up the system of inefficiency.

The Philippines does not have a population problem has as much truth as the statement THERE IS A god.

indi naman ata tama na sa church ibigay ang sisi tsk tsk tsk....with regards to huge families siguro nga may kasalanan din yung church kasi nga ayaw naman nila yung family planning but then the people should be responsible enough with regards to making their own family especially having children. kung indi kaya bakit kelangan mag-anak ng madami? minsan kasi yung ibang tao naghahanap lang nga mapagbubuntunan nila ng sisi kung indi na nila mapakain ang mga anak nila. marunong naman mag-isip mga yun ang problema ayaw lang talaga nila mag-isip ng mabuti. at intindihin ang problema. yung population control nasa tao naman yan. wala problema sa madaming anak basta kaya nilang buhayin at bigyan ng tamang buhay. but then nasa ugali na talaga ng ibang tao na maghahanap ng sisisihin pag indi naging maganda ang kanilang buhay. ayan buti pa si tita glo sayaw lang ng sayaw feel na feel pa nya hehehehe

Is this the Pinoy pasttime? Finding someonel else to blame? Why can't Pinoys accept responsibility for the consequences of their own doing? Take a reality pill!

the church is to blame for the libog factor? i dont remember them condoning huge families especially to those who are poor. the catholic church's stance on family planning is abstinence. you cannot blame the church for the people's weak self control. if youre gonna do that then why not blame them for everything; the economy, the government and the environment. its all an act of god right? wrong.

This trhread was started by Abs-Cbn

Abs-Cbn would like to blame everybody for this tragedy. Lopez takes responsibilit (so he says) yet condemns the reports saying that they are to blame. Hello? This would explain why all the Lopez companies are losing money. The lights are on but nobody is home.

there was an on-going crusade by Franklin Graham in the Luneta, that ironically was billed "there is hope" - billboards all over metro. but the mostly catholic crowd would rather hear something else. the born-agains were dancing and singing on the other side of the metropolis kahit walang house-&-lot, taxis, jeepneys, tricycles or the promise of cool cash.
religion is not meant for entertainment purposes in the first place. if people blame the RCC then our whole society should be blamed for the mess...the RCC is only a part of it, poverty. the desperate masa and those who exploit them for profit too. yun nga, baka umabot kay Rizal ang sisi...wag na tayong lumayo if the culprits are obvious.

The problem is not much about runaway pro-creation as it is about runaway production of unproductive citizens.

In productive societies, people are considered to be a resource. And each person represents a unit of potential economic production.

Trouble is, Pinoys are amongst the most unproductive people on earth. One good president cannot even be found amongst the 80 million of us inhabiting our little island nation. The value of our economic output is dwarfed by nations with one tenth of our population.

The reason there is debate about our runaway population growth is because we produce liabilities rather than assets. Each Pinoy baby born contributes risk to the economy rather than promise.

And why is this? Because infrastructure within our society that directly supports human development are amongst the least prioritised. The Philippines leads the region in the underfunding of its Education and healthcare capabilities.

Small surprise that the issue of overpopulation is debated ad infinitum.
