It has been 3 days now, pero sa pagkakaalam ko, wala pa ring correction na ibinigay ang inquirer sa article nila
dito.

A CALIFORNIA court has reaffirmed its earlier decision to award a three-million-dollar default judgment to a businesswoman who sued Senator Panfilo Lacson over a failed handcuffs deal, GMA Network reported Thursday.

Aba, mali yan. Ito ang article ng ABS-CBNNEWS on the same day.

The Superior Court of California has vacated its default judgment ordering Sen. Panfilo Lacson to pay $3 million as damages to Filipino-American trader Blanquita Pelaez of California, but the court retained its entry for default against the senator because he did not answer the complaint on time.
The superior court said, in response to Lacson’s motion to vacate the order for him to pay $3 million in damages, that plaintiff Pelaez never proved with any evidence her alleged “humiliation, mental anguish, and emotional and physical distress” alleged caused by Lacson, except for her unsubstantiated claims.

I hope the Inquirer editors or the ombudsman fix this error para hindi ma-mislead ang mga readers nila.
Anyway, wala pang 3 araw, may lumabas na naman sa
inquirer na mukhang hindi credible -- and this time, the
INC is going to file libel charges against the PDI for publishing a report that the Iglesia Ni Cristo had provided a safehouse for Gringo Honasan inside the INC compound in Culiat, Quezon City.
From the
Tribune:

But INC officials yesterday strongly denied such a report, saying it has not and will never allow its Central Office to become the hiding place for those who are wanted by the authorities.
"The INC compound is dedicated to the service and worship of God. We hold sacred all activities done inside the INC Central Office compound and any suggestion of any kind insinuating that this place is being used for other means is condemnable.
"The Inquirer report is malicious. They (editors) forgot the first doctrine in journalism. They forgot to verify. A simple phone call to the Central Office would have made a difference.
It would have completed a story based on an alleged intelligence document obtained by the reporter of the Inquirer.
"What came out in the Inquirer's frontpage was not only irresponsible reporting, it was malicious and libelous," the INC said.
First thing Monday morning, the INC will file libel charges against the Inquirer, a statement said.

Sabi ng Inquirer sa
article na ito na they got their information from a "document which summarizes the various assessments of all the government intelligence agencies including that of Malacañang, the Armed Forces and the Philippine National Police".
Sabi naman ni ate glo na hindi raw totoo yung accusations laban sa INC, which is like saying na hindi totoo yung balita ng Inquirer.
Ito naman ang sabi ni Golez at Cabuay:
Quote:
|
National Security Adviser Roilo Golez issued a formal statement denying the existence of an intelligence document linking the INC as Honasan's protector.
Golez said he checked with various intelligence units of the government and "they all categorically denied knowledge of such a document."
"That is a spurious report that is most likely the handiwork of a group aiming to mislead the public on the senator's whereabouts or to sow intrigue within the religious community by giving the case a religious color," Golez stressed.
Major General Pedro Cabuay, chief of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, said the intelligence report "did not come from the AFP."
|
So sino sa kanila ang nagsisinungaling? Malacanang, Golez and the AFP or the PDI? I admit it's a tough call because both parties are not known to be meticulous with the truth in the past.
