kapag naghahanap kayo ng rubber shoes, do you still prefer to buy Nike's or the brand really doesn't matter anymore? if you don't prefer Nike's, what brand do you go for?

Nike was never my favorite brand. It's just too expensive for rubbershoes. I go for Adidas. Although my current pair is Reebok 'coz it was the only brand that had white leather rubbes shoes when I was shopping for one.

May 30, 2002, 07:34 PM

Before you know it,same factory pa kamo!
I'd go for Reebok na lang.Nababaduy na Nike dahil kahit sino,naka-shox at di ko pinagarap gumastos ng napaka-mahal only to find veryone wearing them at kahit saang bangketa like Greenhills,Cubao,Quiapo,Baclaran atbp... andaming Nike na naka-buyangyang!!!
Ayoko na sumunod sa "IN" kuno! REEEBOK IS IT!!!!!
Philophobic
May 30, 2002, 11:24 PM
...i go with the classic, PUMA!!! kahit sneakers Puma parin ako.

I never really liked Nike. It's like the rich-man's rubber shoes. Mahal kasi eh. Masyado kasi akong safe when donning sports apparel eh.
I've been an Adidas freak since childhood. From the Adidas Phantom, Samba, Superstar, etc.
I now have a healthy collection of Adidas rubber shoes for different kinds of sports. But nowadays, Adidas' prices are shooting up suddenly, specially those KB II's...

nike's become too common to be cool... nagkalat na ang mga shox at presto, orig man o peke... dami dami talaga... kaya nang masira kidd ko eh nag adidas na lang ako, yung bagong labas. hindi kasing mahal ng nike, tapos cool pa kasi unique at ako lang meron, hindi gaya ng mga presto na yan dami kang kaparehas... kung hindi adidas eh new balance, ok rin.

the comfort it provides me when i'm working out makes me loyal to the brand.
i've tried reebok and adidas... pero matigas talaga sa paa...
the only other option would be asics... pero wala masyadong selection ng asics dito sa Pilipinas

i like nike's running shoes and football(soccer) shoes but for the past couple of years i've tried out new balance for serious working out and i absolutely adore them. great for both the gym and trail running. for leisure, i favor vintage adidas and pumas.

lalo na sa shirt, rubbershoes, maporma tingnan. i like wearing nike rubber shoes, whether for sports or pamporma , kasi it goes with pants without looking baduy.

Am a gym buff and as far as I'm concerned,Reebok invented Aerobic Shoes and Training shoes. Am really amazed how Reebok shoes could be 'masakit' to the feet.Never encountered such.In fact, sumasakit paa ko sa 1 Nike kong Cross Training when I do my aerobics kaya I don't wear them anymore. No offense meant sa mga maka-Nike pero, even our carpenter,houseboy,etc... naka-Nike at sinama ko driver ko sa Nike Shang for the salesperson to find out if he can detect the real 1 from the immitation.
Guess what?! Tunay raw suot ng driver ko!!! Helloooo?!!!!
You buy sneakers for the comfort,purpose,use,etc... NOT for ja-porms purposes!!!!Okay rin actually ang New Balance pero kulang na lulang tayo sa models dito.
I totally agree with labisalabi...REEBOK is IT!!!!

nike's ok but not as reliable as some brands...
if you'll wear them everyday, i'll guarrantee you, within two- three months laspag na ang shoes nyo...
ok lang siya, i own several pairs of nike shoes... pero hindi kasing durable as compared to some brands i have, like doc marten's! ahahahahahhahahah i can say new balance is good... not much of an adidas fan kaya i cant tell...

- And1 post-game shoes (still prefer them over prestos)

- Nike
there's a new one i'm thinking of buying... its one of the latest of Nike's shox series... price is not cheap, but performance reviews, and after trying them out, i think they're absolutely great! (they fit like a right-sized glove)

pag bball shoes, VC Shox pa rin compared to adidas Kobe2 that looks like flat iron. iwould definitely choose the former. And1 shoes are cool din especially KG. pero if prices matter, siguro the best ones in the market right now are T-mac by Adidas and SpreeMid by And1. minsan obvious rin yung panggagayang Adidas sa Nike. example, yung climacool after the presto. tapos, lately, meron na sa hong kong nung new running shoes nila that resembles nike shox. pero ok lang rin. at least more choices.

For years, Nike cultivated the "rebel image" in its advertising/marketing and choice of endorsers. Back then if you were an athlete and a "bad sport" and constantly made the news because of your crazy antics, you were a potential Nike endorser--think Dennis Rodman, Charles Barkley, Tonya Harding and other "James Deans" of athletics.
Nike's ads often portray "winning at all cost" image using blood-thirsty-warriors and demons in their ads. Perhaps the only exception then was Jordan (although nowadays Nike seemed to have shed the rebel image for a while). When Jordan was penalized for wearing his own shoe design, Nike insisted that he play on with them and shouldered the penalties. Eventually the judges gave-in because they couldn't afford to lose the popularity Jordan brought to the league. Okay for Nike marketing... but bad news for all of us.
By cultivating this image, Nike played a significant role in the deterioration of sportsmanship. Their "bad boy" endorsers and advertising brought down the level of sportsmanship which our children (or even we as children) got exposed to. It became okay to curse at the referee, it became more difficult for our generation to lose a game--bad mouthing became acceptable if you lose.
Now thanks to "rebel" marketing, almost everyone is a Nike clone--a huge market of athlete-wannabees blinded by idolatry. Nike's success came at a price... and we're the ones paying for it. For all the shoes they sold, it may take generations to bring back the good sportsmen of pre-Nike days.
If you easily fell for Nike's brand of marketing strategy, you probably don't know what sports is really all about. Man! Look at the shoes--comfort and quality--then buy a Nike if you must, or another brand if you find something better. But block out the "brand". Let's stop being "clones"!

i've no preference when it comes to sports shoes, but somehow, i don't know why, i always end up buying adidas. but since we're talking about nike, thought you'd like to know that on their website (i think nike.com or something), we can now purchase our own customized shoes, with our initials, own logos, etc, anything you want...for an additional 10 bucks...and the shoes get delivered to us in 3 to 4 weeks...

for now, i think so. this nike-ID thing is pretty new... still in its infancy... experimental stage... i guess when it gets popular enough (i do hope it catches on) the company'll start offering this worldwide... i haven't purchased anything from their website, though. i just saw a segment about this i.d. thing on t.v. last weekend.
