Hi! I recently got accepted at the UP College of Law. :) I'm looking for a place to stay. I've never really stayed anywhere else but my own house. Please tell me of any place where I can have a room to myself whether it's a boarding house or apartment. I want to have my own c.r. and kitchen. Am I aiming too high? :)

congratulations. ads for rooms/bedspace on campus are posted everywhere (bus stops, waiting sheds, bulletin boards). go around and see if any are available. if there are none, you might want to scout the up village-teachers' village-sikatuna village area (behind philcoa and city hall). also try the central district/piņahan area (behind SSS), particularly malakas street. kung wala pa, go to the nearby residential areas like project 2-3, project 6, pagasa.
enjoy UP life!

You might want to start signing onto UP law e-groups for this sort of thing.
Try uplaw-list@yahoogroups.com or lsg2001@yahoogroups.com.

Congratulations! You might want to consider staying at home, like what I did in my first year. Even though I live in Paranaque, I didn't see the need to rent an apartment near UP. Most of the freshmen classes end at noon anyway so you wouldn't have any problem with the traffic on the way home. The catch is you would have to get up at 5 am at the latest for an 8 am class if you live in southern Metro Manila like I do.

I live alone in Alabang and I think it would be so much better if I could get to study here. However, I'm worried that it'll take so much time out of my would-be hectic schedule. And, what if my car breaks down while I'm on my way to school?

Learn to take a jeep like a true UP student? :p
Seriously, I had this lawyer friend who got married last week. On the way to the reception, the bridal car broke down...
So you don't have any pressing problems in life.

I still don't know my section. I still have to wait for them to "evaluate" me -- whatever that is. I'll be on the day class. Sana di masyadong mahal sa hardin ng rosas. Punta ako bukas. :)

Hi! I need your help, guys. I've been trying to find a decent place to stay near UP. I've been to several places inside and outside UP but I can't seem to find any acceptable place. Hindi ako maarte pero para akong napunta sa twilight zone. I've been to Hardin ng Rosas, Hardin ng Bougainvillea, Hardin ng Dona Aurora, UP Bliss, and some other places that I don't care to remember. For the most part, they're cramped and have this nasty odor that envelopes their community. :bigvomit:
I was not raised in luxury but the living conditions of he places I've seen are appalling. How can anyone survive in a small, dirty box/room with three other people inside it? Ganda na sana ng mga hardin from the outside pero once you get in... :whatthe:
There was even this instance in a certain hardin when the maid asked me to come in and talk with the owner's aging mother. I entered and saw the place cramped with a lot of stuff and was led to a small room in the corner. It was around 4 feet wide and around 6 feet long. On the bottom part of a double-deck bed lay an old, emaciated woman. She was partly sitting down with her legs spread apart with a four-inch long object stuck at the side of her neck. :eyecrazy: She asked me to enter her room and mumbled something about a phone number and her husband. Obviously, her mind was on a different plane than mine was. Nakakaawa. I simply nodded and politely excused myself.
Baka naman ganun sa mga napasok ko lang. Or, maybe not.
The sad thing is I can only spend Php6,000 for rent. I guess i'll just have to keep on looking. Do you have any suggestions?
By the way, I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, trying to sound disrespectful of those living there. I'm just trying to be honest. :) I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm gonna regret ever writing this down. Pasensya talaga, mga tol.
Let's not fight over this. Let's just help improve the living conditions of government employees and their families after we graduate. :)
