Hello.

I was just thinking--- pag may bagsak ka sa undergrad course mo ( in my case -- zoology lab), will this lessen your chances in getting into a top medical school?

Yes. I have batchmates in UST Bio who didn't do as good as the others, and they're able to enter UERM, St. Luke's, and FEU.

yup. may class mate nga ako, consistent dean's lister siya pero di pa rin siya tinanggap sa UP. pero kung sa ibang schools, tinatanggap nila kahit may bagsak.

Mababa na ang probability na matanggap ka pa sa UP Col of Med. Sobrang competitive. Ang grade mo nga na 1.46 ay di pa nakakasiguro kung makakapasok ka sa UP PGH eh. Lalo na kung babae ka. Less competitive kasi pagdating sa mga lalaki.

this year sa UPCM, ang cut-off nilang grade para sa mga babae ay 1.6 at para sa mga lalaki ay 2.2. pero kung anak ka nga ng diyos or ng faculty, alumni, staff o di kaya'y regionalization student ka kahit 2.5 ang grade mo makakapasok ka. yun kasi cut-off nila para sa mga slot na yun. kaso kelangan din na 90-percentile or higher ang NMAT score mo.

oo naman... UP-Med, impossible kung may bagsak ka... kahit nga deans list ka pa, mahirap parin makapasok. UST, 8 units total failed, disqualified ka na from submitting an application. pero in my case, i come from another school (dlsu) and i have failed in one subject (3 units). medyo mababa na chances ko pero i scored high in nmat and that balanced it all out, naka pasok naman ako. UE naman, its a lot easier, i have a friend with 10 units of failure at nakapasok pa rin... hes now in 2nd yr. yun lang.

question: kasi nag-shift ako ng course. from my previous course, may bagsak ako na subject (not med related). pero in my current course, ala pa naman akong binabagsak. may possibility pa ba akong makapasok ng UST? gusto ko sana dun eh...

neptune.......am in UST med now......don't get discouraged about that k? just apply and the maximum unit na hindi allowed sa ust i think is 8 units..... kaya mo yan k? if u need help...am here lang.....
just do good in medicine kasi di kana pwedeng mag fail.....


to all the peeps who were talking about the UP med...well isa lang masasabi ko dun......mapulitika ang system nila......i was a candidate for UPCM last year....well unfortunately i wasn't lucky enough to get i......sometimes tsamba lang yun and palaksan.........i know some ppl na nandun nagyon but do not deserve it......i was disappointed but then life doesn't end in UPCM.......if u want to be a doctor, u'll pursue it no matter what.....sometimes it depends na din on the person.

your best bet would probably be UERMMMC or UST. those are the best you could enter na. more plus if you had the money, or the connections

Im with UST med, yup 8 units ...., kung sakaling sinuwerte kang makapasok la ka ng karapatang bumagsak. pero to enter UST at may failures ka sa premed, backed up dapat to ng mataas na NMAT, good interviews. mas mahirap ang tatahakin mo than the rest.

I have pre med classmates with failures na nasa St. Lukes, UERM, FEU, marami sa Lasalle Cavite and Fatima.

Can somebofy please explain WHY the cut off grade is different for males vs females? Hindi ba napaka-sexist naman ng policy na ito? Bakit hindi parehas? Totoo ba ito? Nakaka-depress naman kung totoo nga. :(

Karamihan dun sa nag fail na yun na nasa La Salle ay di na nakaka abot ng 2nd yr.

im a victim of that..and marami sa friends ko. They prefer guys daw kasi mas kaya daw nla ang hosptal work and hindi daw kasi sila nabubuntis....what a reason!! hate it really. well ganyan talaga! life is unfair..basta if ur entering a med school...just do ur best

i beg to differ, here in UST, guys have a lower cutoff grade (better chances to get in) than women... but this is to compensate for the fact that 70% of applicants are female. in our batch nga, out of 400 students only 140 are men. thats the real injustice... but who's complaining! :D
