Popularity has affected Piolo


Piolo Pascual’s popularity these days has definitely affected him. He has changed. And palpably so.

Piolo has become warmer, more relaxed, more confident, more talkative. In other words, he is now a better interviewee.

Piolo was aloof, stiff and scared the first two times we sat down with him in a press conference, the second one being just about a few months ago, when he was just about to celebrate his birthday. At that time, he was even right in his own territory, so to speak, as it was on the 13th floor of the new 15-story ABS-CBN building.

Our huddle with him just a few nights ago was not in his own backyard, again, so to speak. Because it happened at the so-called Regal Café at Valencia St., QC. It was a press conference for his very first movie with Regal Films which happens to be his very first movie, too, with Joyce Jimenez — though the huddle was meant exclusively for him (meaning, Joyce was purposely not sche-duled to be there yet).

The movie is I Think I’m In Love, which used to be titled Sweetheart but which will still be Regal’s entry to the forthcoming revival of the Manila Film Festival next month.

“No, I wouldn’t put it that way, I wouldn’t say my career is at its peak now. Because if I do put it that way, that would mean there’s nowhere for me to go anymore but down. I don’t think I’ve achieved enough to say that my career is now on its peak. What I would say is that it’s on a higher level now than where it used to be,” smilingly answered the guy when one of the scribes huddled around him asked him how he felt about his career’s being already at its “peak.” (Well, it was really a wrong choice of word for that fan magazine writer.)

Yes, Piolo does speak more English now than Filipino, making us realize that one reason he sounded stiff and scared in the past was his having to force himself to talk to the press in Filipino.

Someone must have ins-tructed him in the past to do his best to talk in Filipino when doing an interview with a mixture of showbiz reporters many of whom write in Filipino for the fan magazines and the tabloids. (There is about only a handful of broadsheet entertainment writers who attend press-cons.) But the guy spent some years in the US and must have become more comfortable articulating his thoughts in English than in Filipino, so he seemed to have had no choice in the past but sound anxious and frightened when talking to a bunch of press people.

He freely talked about his son, Iñigo, now four years old. “He looks a lot like me, and I get to visit him as often as I can. I knew even before I left for the US about four years ago that I was going to have a son — though I wasn’t really sure that he was my child …”

A scribe interrupted him by very calmly saying that mere physical resemblance was really no fool-proof evidence that two people are related by blood. Unperturbed and still smiling, Piolo sweetly countered the scribe: “I’m 98.96 percent sure Iñigo is my son because that’s how much of my DNA in percentage he has. As I’ve just said, before I went to the US, I still had doubts that the boy might not be my son. A few months ago, when my ex-girlfriend who is the mother of my son called me about Iñigo, I summoned the nerve to ask her to get the boy and me DNA-tested just to make sure once and for all that we’re indeed father and son to each other. She agreed, and the DNA test indicated that he is 98.96 percent my son. So I really don’t have doubts anymore about it, aside from the fact that he really looks like me.”

So, why doesn’t he and his then-girlfriend just reconcile, get married, and be ever-present parents to the little boy?

His straightforward answer: “Actually, we made that clear to each other: We’re reconciling only as friends so Iñigo will grow up knowing who his father is and somehow getting as close as possible to his father — that father-and-son bonding thing, you know. His mom and I are nice and friendly to each other but not romantic at all. Even the parents of my son’s mother know what we’re up to and they approve of it. No one is talking about she and me getting married or whatever for the little boy’s sake.”

That ex-girlfriend of Piolo is actually a friend of the younger sister of Pops Fernandez who was once rumored to be the girl Piolo was really after (meaning, not Pops at all, though they still get linked to each other these days).

“Pops and I knew each other even before I joined ABS-CBN 2 as her fellow talent there. Dahil nga kaibigan ko at ng ex-grilfriend ko yung younger sister n’yang si Jocelyn. I hope people will stop giving romantic meanings to our closeness,” he revealed and mildly pleaded to his interviewers.

Fine, so we all stopped asking about him and Pops and momentarily turned to his movie with Joyce. Did he find her sexy?

“Yes, I did. But the movie has no sizzling lovescenes between her and me because it’s meant for the whole family. I think it has been classfied GP (general patronage) by the MTRCB (Movie and Television Review and Classification Board). Joyce is a very nice person, very down-to-earth, and I’m so glad to have been given the chance to work with her.”

Directed by Maryo J. de los Reyes, I Think I’m In Love has Piolo playing a rich bachelor playboy who keeps buying perfume for his girlfriends from the shop where Joyce works as a saleslady. One day, when he had run out of girls to fool around with, he asks Joyce for a date, she obliges, and Piolo soon finds himself seriously falling for her.

“Mother” Lily (Monteverde, Regal Films producer) had the movie’s original title of Sweetheart changed because she allegedly knew that it was very unlikely for Piolo and Joyce to become sweethearts in real life — not even during the movie’s promo and publicity period.

Piolo Pascual: More Than The Boy Next Door!

The new men’s fragrance of Sara Lee that Piolo Pascual is endorsing right now fits his personality perfectly according to the company. Named “The Boy Next Door,” the combination scents of musk and citrus is said to exemplify the actor’s sensitivity, kindheartedness, gentlemanliness and appeal to women. And Sara Lee’s positive sales for that product since it was launched only proves they made the right decision in choosing him.



But the persona of Piolo captured in a body spray is just part of the composition that makes the actor interesting and attractive. Commanding high sales receipts to the products he endorses is just a plus side of what he does best – act!


Since his appearance in the teleserye “Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo ako,” televiewers already took notice of his depth in acting. Then came “Lagarista,” his movie debut that probed more into his craft that embossed his tenacity in showbiz. Unlike the usual formula used by new young actors of debuting in youth–oriented or “tweetums” films, he took the risk with “Lagarista.” And it paid off as it unleashed him as an actor to reckon with in Philippine Cinema!


To name a few, other films to his credit are “Mila,” where he played a support role to the socio-political plight of public school teachers and his box office movie with Judy Ann Santos “Bakit Hindi Totohanin.” His diverse movie projects spell out his drive in becoming a versatile actor.


“I’m a risk taker. In ‘Dekada 70,’ I have a torture scene where I’m shown naked. I don’t know how direk Chito will execute it but I’ll do anything for a nice story. I haven’t done it yet though and that’s why I’m losing weight for that. I’ll do anything for a nice film because it is my craft, my work and my profession. I really have to prepare and make good kasi sarili ko na ang ibinebenta ko. So I don’t want to set any limitations,” he explained.


His new movie under Regal Films that is intended for the Manila Film Festival this June is also a welcome change for Piolo. Entitled “I Think I’m in Love,” he is paired with screen vixen and “every man’s fantasy” Joyce Jimenez. The Maryo J. delos Reyes film captures Piolo in a different romance angle that’s entertaining and wholesome. Contrary to what others might think when his name appears beside Joyce, he doesn’t have any sexy scenes in the movie.


“’Yung wala kang papakitang flesh,” commented Piolo when asked what was challenging working with Joyce. “It is a wholesome, light romance movie. It is for general patronage. It is a more kilig story. We just want to make people happy. We just want them to smile.”


In “I Think I’m in Love,” Piolo plays a rich playboy whose two-timing ways were discovered by the women he loved and will love. As to the repercussion of his acts, he was outcast by women in social gatherings he was usually invited to.


Grieving, his brother taunted him that he would never meet a woman without falling to his old ways of playing her for a fool. Challenged, he set off to find a woman he could befriend without any romantic attachments.


He then takes notice of Joyce, the sales lady he usually buys his perfumes from for his girlfriends. And that’s where his real love adventure begins!


“This is a welcome change for Joyce. She was actually the comic relief in the movie. She is a natural comedian with good timing. Masayang romance film ito,” described Piolo.


Also in the cast of “I Think I’m in Love” are Nancy Castiglione, Michelle Bayle, Gloria Romero, Luis Gonzales, Roselle Nava, Cholo Escaño and Jam Melendez.






Better Safe than No. 1





“You always have a goal. And I think I have reached my goals at a very young age,” declared Piolo who has been tagged as the most popular matinee idol today.


Despite being flattered by his fans’ support that has pegged him as “No. 1,” what matters to the actor most is his acting craft and his future in showbiz.


“Marami pa akong gusto. I want to win an award. I want more movies. It is a continuing process. And for me being on top is a state of mind. Because where are you going to go? You’ll just go down again. You just have to play it safe. So you just have to be content and happy with what you have and where you are,” he stressed.


As an actor, Piolo is eager to exploit his talent even more. The road towards immortalizing himself in more movies doesn’t end by being No. 1. And at the moment he couldn’t think of anything that would limit his acting abilities.


“For me as an actor, it is an obligation,” he quipped regarding roles he would do. “Yes you can choose but sarap also to tackle any type of roles. I don’t want to put myself in a box na limited ako. I try as much as possible to be versatile para may kumuha sa akin na producers (smiles)…gay roles are even nice and challenging.”


Moreover, Piolo takes his being No. 1 as inspiration and nothing more. He may have the nod and respect of critics and his fans for his onscreen performances but his acting is a life-long process that to him is to be nurtured.


“As an actor, I still have a lot to learn. Even if you are really a good actor, you cannot say that you are a perfect actor. You cannot give yourself a 10. For I think acting is a learning experience and you go through a process,” he said.


Other than finishing “Dekada 70” (he plays the rebel son of Vilma Santos in the story) what is next in line for Piolo is “Nine Mornings” which will be shown by November of this year. He stars with Donita Rose, Belinda Panelo and Dominic Ochoa.


Already done with his movie responsibilities for the year, his goal now is to work with Sharon Cuneta and Regine Velasquez in the near future. And although his loveteam partner just Judy Ann finished another film with another leading man, he will still have another movie with her as promised by his producers.


“Of course I want to think that I’m No. 1. But I don’t want to think that I am there already. You can not be No. 1 forever. So I want to be at the safe side. They get me because they trust me,” he ended.

PIOLO Pascual can be vocal, opinionated, candid and mysterious all at the same time. And it’s this cameleon-like ability that fascinates the viewer.

Gauging from his performances in “Mila” and “Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka,” we can say that he’s credible both as the good or bad guy. He can shift from being a victim to a victimizer. Either way his performance is heartfelt and sincere.

At 24, Piolo prefers to stay at home than party at night. He believes that being in the limelight complicates things, while being with his family simplifies them.

“When I’m at home I play a lot with my niece, sleep, take care of our plants, or play with my Dalmatian, Cha-pee. When I was in the States, I watched movies everyday. I’m a movie addict. I can’t do that here,” Piolo reveals.

His intensity and sensitivity are innate to him. He grew up with four sisters and one brother. He used to have one gallery of matchboxes (toy cars) and courted girls in high school by writing poetry.

He confesses that he’s conservative and a hopeless romantic. He further reveals that he’s not been able to be in a relationship where there is no sex involved. But he’s bothered by the attitude of young people towards sex.

“Their attitudes are more dangerous. Courtship has become more relaxed, no more serenading. If they want to have something, they want it immediately. The fact that people engage in premarital sex is something that we cannot change. Most of the girls I know have become liberated because of their environment. For us guys, it’s because of peer pressure,” he shares.

Piolo admits that he’s conservative in most ways but he wants to express his love through “making love” when he’s in a relationship. What’s his view on relationships?

“If I have a girlfriend, I want her to be the last. I don’t want to invest in someone who I know will sooner or later be out of my life. It is an emotional and mental investment. I am saving for my future because I want to settle down.

“That is why I want her to be the last because it takes time to know if she’s really meant for you. But marriage is not yet on my mind, not in the next five years,” he notes.

PIOLO Pascual has a new movie with Joyce Jimenez, "I Think I'm In Love," produced by Regal and directed by Maryo de los Reyes. And because it's Joyce, one must ask, just how much skin does she expose in this movie? Don't be disappointed, guys, but this is a light comedy a la Julia Roberts, not an R-rated adult film. They even cut out one of the love scenes just to make sure they got a G-rating from the MTRCB.

What was it like working with the sexy siren? "Joyce is very down-to-earth. She's the kind of person you can easily get along with. Walang kiyeme, napaka-simple niya. And she's very makulit. Nakakatuwa siyang kasama sa set. Wala siyang kaere-ere; she listens. And she's a good friend."


What's the movie about? "It's about a bet. My brother in law wants me to have a friendship with a girl without falling for her. If I lose, within three months, he gets my Porsche. So, I meet this girl, Joyce, she's a department store clerk, and she becomes our bet. I promise him I won't fall for her, and that's the story."

If he made a bet like that in real life, would he win it? "I wouldn't take that bet. Not for love. I think it's a stupid thing to do. Kasi ang kalaban mo dun, feelings mo na, e. What if you fall for the girl, which is what happens to me in the movie?"

But is it possible for him to get really close to a girl without falling for her? "Of course. I've had girl friends who are super close to me. Kasi, I think when you start with friendship, it's better na friends na lang kayo, e. For me, if you're girlfriend material, I wouldn't make a friend out of you. I wouldn't want to be your friend, because I'm going to court you right away. I wouldn't want to get sidetracked. I'm going to tell you right away, 'I want you to be my girlfriend.' And my intention is to be friends with you, I'll also make it clear."

What in a girl makes her girlfriend rather than "just friends" material for Piolo? "I don't look at the face, I really am more into personality. There are times you're immediately kilig. Other times, it's when I get to know her better that I realize she's girlfriend material."

So, does he believe in love at first sight? Has it actually happened? "Yeah. It's happened to me. I believe in destiny, I believe in love at first sight. It just happens talaga."

Piolo's a self-confessed romantic. He believes in the whole nine yards-chocolates, roses, romantic dinners, jewelry. He's even written love letters. "When I can't say it, I write it. I don't care if they're mushy."

He's very traditional--he doesn't like aggressive women. But he concedes that the Filipina has grown over the years--"Filipinas have to adapt. They cannot forever be conservative. It's a plus factor, that women have come to know their worth, as equals with men. I just don't think that a girl should become aggressive because of it. Huwag naman more superior. Pantay."

How does he say I love you to a girl? "I go on instinct. Whatever I feel, I say it. If I feel like saying I love you, I say it. I choose the right place and time to be showy. But I really can be sweet. You can ask them . . . " he smiles.

Isn't it hard to focus on just career? What inspires him? "My inspirations are my son, my work, the people who look up to me-."

Piolo has a philosophy in life and career that keeps him going: "I take care of myself. I try to be as honest and sincere as possible. And to be as realistic as I can be. It's hard to pretend. So I am myself. I am what I am. What they see is me, no pretensions. That's why I'm more open now. Because it's hard to be somebody you're not. Especially in this business, you won't last long. Sooner or later, people will realize who you really are."

PP: She was my ex-girlfriend. She was with us in Toronto.
SNS: And?
PP: She's like my kambal. Matagal na kaming wala. She's close
with my family. Even na naghiwalay na kami, we're still friends.
SNS: Ex-girlfriend... How come you didn't explain that to the
Toronto press?
PP: Yeah... Yeah... Well I just said she's my friend, you
know.
SNS: Why didn't you introduce her as your ex?
PP: Why would elaborate, di ba? They asked her lang kung sino
siya so I answered 'my friend.'
SNS: Why are you elaborating now?
PP: Kasi kumpleto 'yung name, e.
SNS: For the record, Charina Dy is the?
PP: She's the niece of the current governor of Isabela.
SNS: Why are you laughing so hard?
PP: Wala lang, good luck na lang sa kanya.
SNS: She'll get mad for this?
PP: No naman. Wala lang, I don't know. She's not used to being
named like this. We're very close talaga, she calls me Kambu or
Kambal Bu. Kasi we look alike, e. People would tell her magkamukha
kami.
SNS: No plans of reconciliation?
PP: Why should I? Bata pa ako, e. Madami pa akong pangarap sa
buhay.
SNS: No plans of marrying as of now?
PP: I have priorities in life. If I wanted that, matagal ko
nang ginawa 'yun.
SNS: Are you single now?
PP: Yes. Lalo na ngayon, I want to devote my time to my career
and my families. (SNS)


Actually, Piolo Jose, not Fernando Jose, at one time in his
life would have wanted to become a priest. He took up his
elementary studies with the Franciscan fathers.
"I was a member of the Teatro Kiko during my elementary and
high school years. I belong also to a family who made it a point to
pray the rosary every night. At one point I joined a parish renewal
seminar at du'n ako na-inspire na maging pari. In college, had I
not qualified to enter UST, my second choice was to enter the
seminary. But I wasn't meant to be a priest after all."
Then showbiz beckoned. "It was Dennis de los Santos, brother
of Kim, who introduced me to Kuya Germs. He was my friend and I was
in third year high school when he brought me along to `That's
Entertainment.' It was then that Kuya Germs invited me to join
showbiz."
He enjoyed his tentative stint in show biz, but he had to
leave for the States to join his mom.
"I worked in the emergency room at Garfield Hospital. But I
felt I wasn't happy there. My manager now, Jojie Dingcong, told me
to get in touch with him once I decided to make a comeback."
It was in 1996 when Piolo came back and joined Star Circle.
His exposure on television led him to become one of the more
intense performers among our young actors of today. Director Mel
Chionglo of "Lagarista" has a very high regard for Piolo.
"He is very professional with his craft and this will
facilitate his rise to a lead star status. He is definitely
destined to go places, acting-wise," Chionglo says of his star.

As I can see it, JAS and Piolo are just friends. They like each other as friends and I dont see anything wrong about it. Going beyond that I doubt it. Piolo is dead serious when it comes with his career to succeed. . . So for him, I think, love can wait.

“Siguro, naisip lang ng mga producer na ipareha naman ako sa iba. At saka, hindi naman basta-basta masisira `yung tandem namin ni Judy Ann dahil nandu’n na `yon, eh.

“Siguro, this is just something on the side, and at the same time, as an actor, gusto ko rin na may mapatunayan ako, at para naman may magawa rin akong iba. Hindi ko naman po ito hiningi, kundi kusa namang ibinigay sa akin.

“At saka, nu’ng ginawa po namin ni Joyce itong movie, hindi pa po gumagawa ng movie sina Judy Ann at Dingdong. We started last year pa po. So, wala pong gantihan dito,” seryosong paliwanag pa ni Piolo.

Pinakikinabangan na rin ni Piolo Pascual ang kanyang pagkanta. The day that we talked to him, naghahanda na siya para mag-recording ng theme song para sa pelikula nila ni Joyce Jimenez na I Think I’m In Love. Matatandaan na si Kuh Ledesma ang original na singer nito.

Payat siya ngayon, 14 lbs. ang sinadya niyang iwala bilang paghahanda sa pelikulang Dekada na aniya ay kaunti na lamang at matatapos na.

Mahaba rin ang kanyang buhok na kailangan para sa nasabi ring movie. "Pero, hindi ko ito paiikliin kahit tapos na ang movie. Gusto ko ng mahabang buhok kahit hindi para sa pelikula," sabi niya.

Bagaman at marami ang naaakit sa kanyang kapareha na ubod ng seksi, sinabi niya na wala sa kanya yung sexy projection ni Joyce, ang mas napansin niya ay ang kakalugan at kakulitan nito. "She’s bubbly and kulit. Magkaibigan na rin sila ng mom ko. I’m sure magkikita kami sa US in the future dahil magkapitbahay lamang kami. WHILE the Ecstasy controversy continues to make the entertainment industry miserable, it is reassuring to see a star like Piolo Pascual involved in a campaign against the use of illegal drugs.

Piolo is the new image model of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) youth sector. He participates in anti-drug campaigns, fund-raising activities and youth leadership efforts supported by the charitable institution.


He has attended PNRC-sponsored conventions in Rizal, Laguna and Bacolod City. He is also expected to visit PNRC chapters in the cities of Maasin, Ormoc, Iloilo and Baguio, and in the provinces of Cebu, Davao Oriental and Camarines Norte.

When the Inquirer recently talked with Piolo at the product launch of Sara Lee's newest line of men's fragrances, the actor said he has already donated blood through the PNRC Rizal chapter four times. He has also been to the PNRC national headquarters on Roxas Boulevard twice, where he met with young people like him.

"It feels good to donate blood because it cleanses your system," Piolo said. "It's a way of sharing yourself and helping other people. When they asked me to be the Red Cross Youth (RCY) model, I didn't have second thoughts."

18 to 25

"Pledge 25" is an RCY program where young blood donors pledge to donate blood three to four times a year, starting at age 18 until they turn 25. Members are also taught to look for other volunteer donors.

When the late actor Rico Yan turned 25 and ended his stint as Pledge 25 endorser, Piolo took over.

Piolo signed a memorandum of agreement with PNRC officials on March 31, 2001 at Robinson's Galleria at the Ortigas Center. After the signing, he led about 120 RCY members in a bloodletting ceremony. He said donating blood was his "most fulfilling experience" as an RCY member.

"I think they took about a quarter of a bag of blood from me," he said.

He admitted he felt nervous when he first realized how much blood PNRC personnel were to get from him.

"Piolo is a man with firm ideals," RCY department manager Romeo Orilla said. "He has traveled a lot for the Red Cross for free, mostly to disseminate information about the dangers of drug abuse."

I don't know about others but for me, i find Piolo Pascual gorgeous. Sayang naman kung masisira siya ng issue that he's a gay. Aside from the gorgeous look he is also considered as one of the best young actors today.

I hope 2 see him again in a good movie with Maricel Soriano (better than Mila) and hopefully with Claudine Barretto and Khristine Hermosa. :)

It has been 4 years na yung chismis...wala namang CONCRETE eh so hanggang HAKA-HAKA lang. Kakaawa nga si Piolo kung tutuusin. The industry is so small, many are called but only a handful are chosen to be popular so they can contribute to the DYING industry but what does one gets when he reaches the top? Sisiraan...yeah he is a public figure and everything but come to think of it...gusto niyo ba na hanggang OLD stars na lang parati ang nasa limelight? One has to replace an old star so that the industry can continue to LIVE. But Piolo is the best example. Pinabulaanan ni Piolo Pascual na mabubuwag na ang The Hunks. Imposible raw na mangyari ito dahil nag-i-enjoy pa sila sa kanilang mga ginagawa.

As a matter of fact, nakatakda raw magkaroon ng show sa Japan at East Coast ang kanilang grupo.

Nonetheless, inamin ni Piolo na totoo na nag-request siya sa Talent Center ng two-week vacation bawat taon dahil gusto niya na makapagpahinga. Nakakaramdam daw siya ng burn-out dahil sa kanyang tight schedule.

Not a problem

ASIDE from starring opposite Joyce Jimenez in Regal Films' entry to the Manila Film Festival, "I Think I'm in Love," Piolo Pascual has been tapped to record a version of the well-loved Kuh Ledesma hit. It shouldn't be a problem for the 25-year-old actor.

Glee club


"I love to sing!" he enthuses. "I've been singing since I was a kid. I joined glee clubs in school. I'm into ballads." His favorite singers are Jun Polistico, Martin Nievera, Ariel Rivera and Basil Valdez.

He also admires James Ingram, Peabo Bryson and Bryan McKnight. In fact, Piolo grins, the latter's "One Last Cry" is a staple in his repertoire whenever he hits the videoke bars (usually with his friends and relatives). "That's where I hone my singing," he quips.

Piolo is so keen on singing that, when he went to the States about four years ago to live with his mom in California, he made a side trip to New York to try his luck on Broadway. He had wanted to audition for a musical, but he got cold feet. "Hindi rin naman kasi ako ganoon kagaling kumanta," he admits, shaking his head.

He may not be able to do a Matthew Broderick in "The Producers," but Piolo's crooning is one good reason to endure a frenetic musical show on a laidback Sunday afternoon.

Own album

Now, after lending his vocals to compilation albums like the soundtrack of "Got 2 Believe," Piolo will be cutting his own record. He happily shares that Ogie Alcasid has agreed not only to write a song for the album, but will likewise produce it for him.

He's also excited to have Regine Velasquez as a producer of one of the tracks.

"The people at Star Records are only waiting for me to go to the recording studios," says Piolo, crossing his fingers that it will happen soon.

"Ayoko naman kasi ng basta-basta lang," he explains. "I really want to do my best in this album."

His problem? He can't squeeze long recording sessions into his hectic sked. He's a regular on the teleserye "Sa Puso Ko, Iingatan Ka," which tapes every Tuesday and Thursday, and on the Sunday noontime program, "Asap."

At the same time, he's busy promoting "I Think I'm in Love" and shooting "Dekada '70" and "Nine Mornings" for his mother studio, Star Cinema. And before the year ends, he hopes to start a movie project with his small-screen partner, Judy Ann Santos.

Priority

After all, acting is still Piolo's priority. "I don't want to confuse my audience," he points out. He agrees that he'd rather be known as an actor who can sing. He adds that he discovered he could act long before he realized he could carry a tune.

"It just came naturally to me," he remarks about his thespic talent. So when he was tapped by German Moreno to join "That's Entertainment" almost 10 years ago, he readily accepted the offer. He stayed with the teen musical-variety program for a year.


Piolo shifted to theater when he entered college. Though he was still a freshman, the officers of the University of Santo Tomas' Teatro Tomasino chose him to play the lead in their production of "Juan dela Cruz in New Year City."

He now cringes at the recollection of that first experience on stage. But it proved to be a great help in his future acting assignments. "Now I enjoy playing a character who is very different from me," he remarks.

Entry

Moreover, the association with his seniors paved the way for his entry into the biz. His first break was in the role of Tito Miguel in the children's program, "ATBP," then he was asked to audition for a pool of new faces that the network's Talent Center was launching.

He made it to Star Circle, Batch 3, But before Piolo was able to make a big impression on TV viewers, he flew to the US to be with his family.

He attended two schools there, but he still failed to earn a degree. Piolo got a few jobs but the acting bug showed him the way back home. When he got the plum role as the best friend of Marvin Agustin's character in the weekly serial produced by Star Cinema for Channel 2, "Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo Ako," Piolo finally got the attention of both the public and the network's bosses.

Since then, it's been a steady climb to stardom for Piolo.

No other member of the new breed of actors has perhaps gone through the grind the way Piolo Pascual did in his birth throes as an actor. Because he happened to be the most promising, the best looking and the most talented in the lot, Piolo was subjected to some kind of an "initiation rite" that would have driven a showbiz aspirant of lesser stuff to raise the white flag and recoil back into anonymity.

But not Piolo, whose dream for stardom was his shield for all the sticks and stones thrown at him. Until now, he’s hounded by that "gender issue" which has also dogged not only local but also Hollywood actors. Happily and luckily, not even the most personal attacks can put a good actor down, thank you.

"I’ve seen the best and the worst sides of showbiz," said Piolo who has kept his head above the sea of intrigues. "The best far outweighs the worst that’s why I’m still around."

When you watch Piolo acting whether on the big screen or the small screen, in a romance-comedy or in a weepy drama, every piece of mud his detractors hurl at him instantly disappears and you see only the fine actor engrossed in his performance. That’s the point: If an actor gives the public the performance it deserves, who cares what he does off camera (as long as he’s doing it with discretion)?

In the four years that Piolo has been active in showbiz (not counting his early years as a member of German Moreno’s unlamented teen show That’s Entertainment where he was known as PJ Pascual), Piolo has amply proven his worth as an actor in whatever genre you put him in. In his latest movie, Regal Films’ I Think I’m in Love, directed by Maryo J. delos Reyes for the Manila Film Festival (June 12 to 25), Piolo is teamed up for the first time with Joyce Jimenez, he as an elusive playboy and she as saleslady at the perfume counter of a department store hopelessly in love with him.

In the following Conversation, Piolo talks about "the best" and "the worst" in his life, putting his best foot forward as usual with his witty and intelligent answers.

• The best moment, the worst moment

"My best moment so far was when I spent a vacation at the Plantation Bay in Cebu with my (love) son Iñigo, 4. Super-bonding kami. We were with his mom and some friends, but Iñigo and I spent one whole day together, just the two of us. We went kayaking and swimming.

"The worst? I can’t think of any at the moment. I’m roasted by some members of the press but it doesn’t last a moment; it’s a continuing moment. Kasama sa trabaho ’yan. A never-ending moment."

• The best thing that ever happened to him, the worst thing that ever happened to him

"The best thing that ever happened to me is this, my career. I don’t regret my decision to come back from the States four years ago to resume my showbiz career here. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

"The worst happened late last year in Rome when I misplaced my luggage. I didn’t have money with me because I had used up my credit card. I was alone. My sister kasi decided to stay behind in Milan. I had two pieces of luggage and each passenger was allowed to check in only one. I was helpless. In the confusion, I misplaced my luggage. It’s a good thing the Cathay Pacific supervisor came to my rescue and got both suitcases on the same flight."

• The best performance, the worst performance

"I like all my roles but my two best performances were in Lagarista, my launching movie, and in the ABS-CBN soap Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo Ako. I didn’t realize how big a movie Lagarista was until it was shown in Canada (at the Toronto International Film Festival). It’s my favorite because with Lagarista, I made my mom (especially) and my family proud of me.

"I have had bad performances, all right, pero wala pa namang worst. The worst is yet to – but I hope it won’t – come."

• The best song, the worst song

"Nothing can compare with Superman. I just love the lyrics. I love that song because Superman also happens to be my favorite hero.

"I love music so as far as I’m concerned, there’s no ‘worst’ song. Every song is music to my ears."

• The best movie, the worst movie

"I can never forget Awakenings (starring Robert DeNiro and Robin Williams). It’s a very sensitive movie, with DeNiro and Williams giving one of their best performances (as depressive men in a home for the aged).

"I’ve seen some bad movies but I’d rather not mention them. They’re bad, thus forgettable."

• The best person he has ever known, the worst person he has ever known

"The best person is, hands down, my Mom (Amelia Nonato). She has gone through a lot, she has survived all sorts of trials with her head held high. I admire my Mom for her strength (of character) and the way she has brought us up. She faces problems with dignity.

"And the worst person I’ve ever met? There’s one but I’d rather keep that person’s identity to myself. Bahala na ang Diyos sa kanya."

• The best sex experience, the worst sex experience

"Do I have to pick only one? Baka naman magalit ’yung iba? Well, it was with my girlfriend, but I won’t say who she is and when it happened. Where did it happen? In the bedroom, of course!

"The worst was with somebody who had no teeth. It was dark and I found out about the dentures only after it happened. ‘Yon lang. I don’t want to elaborate."

• The best place he has ever seen, the worst place he has ever seen.

"Rome. Yes, Rome! I had my worst experience in Rome (at the airport) but I still consider it the best place I’ve ever been to. Isang lugar na gusto mong balik-balikan. I love the churches, the Vatican, the catacombs, the ruins, the people. I love everything in Rome, the weather, the buildings, the museums, lahat!

"The worst, in my opinion – at sana naman, batu-bato sa langit ang tamaan ay huwag magagalit – is Metro Manila. It’s crowded and polluted, not to mention the traffic jam."

• The best meal, the worst meal

"Give me goto from Goodah anytime. The best na sa akin ’yon. I’m not choosy with food but I have favorites – grilled pusit, oysters, sashimi, ’yung salad with salmon (from Sugi).

"I had my worst meal in a Filipino restaurant (not identified) somewhere in Quezon City. I was almost hospitalized due to food poisoning and I had to postpone my trip to Baguio. I never went back to that restaurant."

• The best part of his body, the worst part of his body

"My eyes are the best, I think. ’Yon din ang sabi nila. My eyes don’t lie; they reflect what I feel. My eyes can express my feelings more eloquently than words ever can. My eyes can say a lot of things, especially when I’m acting.

"But I don’t like my legs even if many people tell me they’re okay. I don’t like the back portion between the knee and the ankle. Medyo hindi proportioned."

• The best time to make love, the worst time to make love

"You know, it’s nice to make love when you’re tired, when you’re pagod. Why? Wala lang. Maybe to release tension. When you’re tired you want to be baby-ed, di ba? I’m like that. Gusto ko bini-baby ako.

"Well, the worst time is, of course, when you’re not in the mood or when you are forced to or when you’re doing it in a hurry."

• The best book, the worst book

"Be Happy by Andrew Matthews is perhaps the best book that I’ve read so far. The book teaches you how to be happy and about positive thinking. It shows you how to get out of yourself and to be the person that you want to be. I’ve been reading the book since I was 13 and it has helped me a lot. I like it so much that I’ve bought several copies which I gave to my friends. I want the book to help and guide them the way it has helped and guided me. I also like The Tao of Inner Peace by Dianne Draher. And also The Bible.

"I haven’t come across a worst book yet because I choose only books that I really want to read."

• The best hideaway, the worst hideaway

"Europe is, I think, the best hideaway. It’s so rich in culture, tradition and everything. There’s a lot to see and explore in Europe, whether in summer, in winter, in spring or fall. I’ve been to Madrid (Spain) but I’d love to go to Ibiza and the Balearic Island, both in Spain.

"The worst hideaway is any place that’s crowded; when there are many people around, any place ceases to be a hideaway. Kaya nga ‘hideaway’ because you want to ‘hide away,’ get away from everybody and just be by yourself, to be alone."

• The best shirt, the worst shirt

"I have this orange Gap T-shirt which I love so much. I feel light when I wear it, as if all’s right with me and the world.

"The worst thing to wear are shirts na masakit sa balat. There are shirts like that, di ba? When you wear them, you become the crankiest person in the world."

• The best thing about Joyce, the worst thing about Joyce

"She’s true (totoong tao) inside and out. She has no inhibitions; I like the way she carries herself. I like her buttocks!

"It’s not her worst trait, but I don’t like her squeaky voice so much. It’s funny and sweet but squeaky just the same."

• The best thing about Piolo Pascual, the worst thing about Piolo Pascual

"The best, I guess, is that I can be responsible. I’m not saying I am responsible but I can be responsible. I’m a good and loyal friend, I’m honest. I’m not the friendliest guy in the world but I can be nice to be with. I’m trustworthy. I’m a good lover and a good son.

"And the worst about me? I’m too trusting, too sensitive and vulnerable. Yes, I feel so much, that’s why I get hurt easily. That’s one trait that I want to change. Give me a little more time and I will."

Patunay ay ang nakaraang Santacruzan ng mga bidang artista ng anim na entries sa kahabaan ng Maynila last Friday. Si Piolo ang pinakamatinding pinagkakaguluhan sa okasyon. PIOLO Pascual is not a bit worried by the talk that Piolo-Judy Ann (Santos) fans intend to boycott his movie with Joyce Jimenez.

"She (Judy Ann) did a movie with Dingdong (Dantes) and our fans didn't boycott that, so I don't think they will plan anything like that about my movie with Joyce," Piolo says.

After "I Think I'm in Love," Piolo will resume filming the period movie, "Dekada '70," with Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leon. Piolo plays an activist and the eldest of the five sons of Vilma and Boyet in the film directed by Chito Roño.

"I just want to keep exploring the acting arena and discover more things," Piolo says. "In the future I also want to venture into directing."

Piolo says he does not really have a dream role, but wants to do something like what Hollywood actor Edward Norton played in the Richard Gere movie, "Primal Fear."

Piolo says he also wants to make movies with such actresses as Sharon Cuneta, Regine Velasquez and Dawn Zulueta.

Last night i watch "kahit Isang Saglit" sa channel 2, actually 3X times ko na yun napanood, but then the same kilig parin ang na feel ko sa mga kilos ni Piolo super talaga ang galing nyang umarte natural na natural, i think kahit sino pang ka-partner niya patok iyon sa takilya, ang galing kasi niyang magdala e. Oh man...that brings back memories. KIS, was my first glimpse of PIOLO as an actor!!! Don talaga ako humanga sa galing nya!! Every single scene he was in was worth watching. Ibang-iba ang calibre nya as an actor!;)

Buti naman he's being given the opportunity to work with other lead actresses...its obviously a sign of better things to come. And if anyone deserves it, Piolo certainly does!!:D

I posted my thoughts about Piolo dun sa thread na iyon...pero bastusan ang ginagawa nila kay Piolo. Nag-iisip ako ng mga argumento na pinasasagot ko lang sa kanila pero ang mentalidad nung thread starter, saradon sarado. Nag iimbita siya ng away. In all honesty, a movie once a year with Judy isn't a bad idea. May appeal naman ang team up nila di ba? But as an admirer of PIOLO, I would prefer to see him work with other talents (which he's beginning to do). I think mahirap ma-identify sa isang loveteam. Atleast if you branch out or broaden your horizons so to speak, you have more opportunities to develop your craft. And fortunately, this is what's happening to PIOLO.;)

You are the third person that i read or heard saying that during the parade, it was PIOLO who drew the most number of fans sa street. It was even reported sa TV Patrol. Now who says the film is a DARK HORSE sa box office?

Kilig’ movie for everyone

Maybe it’s unavoidable that at first, because of the trailer and the synopsis given in the wide publicity, potential moviegoers got the impression that the new movie by Maryo J. delos Reyes, I Think I’m in Love, was a blatant copycat of the recent Hollywood fare starring Josh Hartnett, 40 Days and 40 Nights. But this is a misconception. The similarity begins and ends with the idea that the romantic hero is a womanizer who is driven to celibacy, or at least to platonic friendship with a sexy, gorgeous woman. In the foreign movie, the entire movie hinges on this will-he-or-will-he-not? comic suspense.

But the local movie is concerned with other stuff – the two principal characters’ relationships with other people, and their kindling passion for each other. Having seen both pictures one after the other, this writer had several moments of good laughter with 40 Days, but the pleasure one gets from I Think I’m In Love is fuller and deeper, and in gaining such pleasure, one completely forgets 40 Days. The first is simply clever, while the latter is both funny and touching (cry babies are advised to bring hankies to wipe those tears of joy).

The characters in Maryo J.’s movie are people so easy to fall in love with, not just the two leads but the minor ones as well, and the actors who play them are all supremely likeable. A character who becomes nasty or makes life hard for the hero or heroine is quickly put in his or her place (in soap operas, the situation is stretched to eternity).

Piolo Pascual, currently the premier heartthrob in Philippine movies, plays the Prince Charming with a giant libido but also... an equally big heart. The well-heeled Lothario has a penchant for gifting his girlfriends with expensive perfume; but he has a better side: he makes periodic visits to a geriatric institution to cheer up the residents. He is also kind enough to fulfill his promise to an elderly woman to take her family out for a day at the beach.

But Piolo is such a fine actor he comes off not as saintly, cloying, or wooden. Maybe it’s because the writer (Jun Lana) and director – and the actor – adds a "neutralizing" element: his suppressed but ever-rising romantic passion for his seductive friend. Piolo attacks his dilemma with equal parts charms, intensity, and vulnerability. It would relieve moviegoers however had the writer and director made more effort to show why Piolo, intelligent as he is, is unable to decide if his feelings for Joyce is unadulterated love or pure lust. Why, for crying out loud, does he not answer Joyce’s text messages?

Joyce Jimenez, finally seen in a movie that doesn’t exploit her sexy image crassly, plays a working girl who dutifully accompanies her lola to the old folks’ home to visit the old woman’s boyfriend. With this and her recent movie outings, Joyce has effectively proven that she could also be a "Sweetheart ng Bayan" as much as Pantasya ng Bayan (without the latter’s limiting For-Adults-Only dimension). Well, okay, in a bikini, it’s hard not to admire Joyce‘s gorgeous body. Younger viewers however may relate to her as a sister to root for.

Some girls may be envious or resentful, and they are represented by Joyce’s fellow salesladies at the department store’s perfume section, who are like three wicked stepsisters in a fairy tale. They eye her like Cinderella, but this Cinderella hits back. The other "villainess," for her part, Piolo’s girlfriend – played by the wonderful Nancy Castiglione – is such a delightful presence she lights up every moment she’s in. And how about those boys who badmouth Joyce and her family? She gives them a piece of her mind, short of punching them (she won’t cheapen herself by getting physical, she confides later to a friend).

The other characters who orbit around the couple are believable as they are familiar, from Piolo’s brother (Lorenzo Mara), to the boy and girl next door to Joyce’s (Jam Melendez, Aiko’s younger brother and Roselle Nava). More atypical is Joyce’s grandma, played with aplomb and gusto by Gloria Romero who ignites the screen with her own star power, as a free-spirited widow who is loving, independent and full of life. Why, the elderly star is even seen joining a physically-demanding sack race! A small grace note is her reunion with ’50s leading man Luis Gonzales as the man she visits at the institution.

Usually, the so-called "kilig" movie caters to adolescent and late teen audiences. This escapist fare – now also known as a Feel-Good Movie – will please a larger group: the young adults and professionals, and even, with the subplot involving Gloria and Luis, the older folk. You’ll think you’re in love – no, you’ll FALL in love when you watch this crowd-pleaser.

Piolo Joyce movie takes P4.7 million on 1st day


The Piolo Pascual-Joyce Jimenez team got a go-signal from moviegoers when it took P4.7 million last Wednesday, June 12, on the opening of the newly-revived Manila Film Festival (until June 25) along with five other official entries.

Directed by Maryo J. delos Reyes, “I Think I’m in Love” marks the first team-up of Piolo and Joyce who are cast in the story respectively as a playboy and a saleslady desperately looking for Mr. Right.

Piolo won’t be just sitting down in America and earning money just as easily as he does here, enjoying fame and fortune and earning more in a month’s time what he would in a year’s time kahit na maging manager pa siya ng bangko.

Inakusahan kami ng manager ni Judy Ann Santos, ang kasamahang kolumnistang si Alfie Lorenzo, na miyembro ng grupong nangwawasak-nagpapahiwalay sa tambalang Juday-Piolo Pascual.

Ilang beses lang naming sinulat na may planong itambal si Piolo Pascual kay Claudine Barretto, isang uri ng balitang hindi naman produkto ng pagtingala lang sa kisame at may basehan naman, ay kung bakit inakusahan na ng manager ni Judy Ann ang Tuesday Club na tagapasimuno ng balita.

Sinulat lang namin na nu’ng ganapin ang Fans’ Day nina Piolo at Joyce Jimenez sa San Andres ay walang sumigaw ng pangalan ni Juday bilang pagtatanong kay Piolo ay nagalit na ang manager ni Juday.

Hindi na raw niya malaman ngayon kung para kanino kami, dahil maka-Piolo, Claudine at Jolina Magdangal kami.

Sarkastiko ang pagkabitiw ng salita ni Alfie na naguguluhan daw siya sa aming posisyon ngayon, kaya baka raw kami ay masagasaan.

Unang-una ay kolumnista kami, prerogatibo ng sinumang kolumnista ang sulatin ang gusto niyang materyales basta walang risko ng libelo, bukas ang aming mga pahina sa paliwanag ng bawat panig, at wala siyang karapatang kuwestiyunin ’yun.

Bakit ’yun ang napansin ni Alfie? Bakit hindi niya napansin na ilang buwan nang puro si Juday at si Piolo ang nilalaman ng aming mga pahina?

Hindi na nga siya marunong magpasalamat ay ang panghihimasok pa ba naman niya sa pagiging kolumnista namin ang kanyang magiging regalo?

Wala naman kaming sinumpaang pangako na ang mga pahina namin ay si Juday lang ang maaaring lamanin, anumang balitang karapat-dapat sulatin at may interes ang publiko ay puwede naming ihatid, kaya bakit pati ang pagsusulat namin tungkol kina Piolo, Claudine at Jolina ay kailangan niyang panghimasukan?

Sa lahat naman ng pangalang nabanggit ni Alfie ay wala kaming suweldo o kabayarang kahit sampung pisong punit, tulad din sa kanila ni Judy Ann na ni singkong duling at yupi ay wala kaming hinihingi, kaya bakit at ano ang karapatan niyang harangan ang sinumang gusto naming sulatin bukod sa kanyang alaga?

Hindi niya diretsong sinabi na huwag naming sulatin ang kanyang mga kalaban dahil sa mapagmataas nilang tonong kaya niyang ilaban ang sarili niyang giyera, pero bakit niya minasama ang pagsusulat namin tungkol sa panig ng mga Magdangal?

Wala na ba kaming karapatang balansehin ang aming mga istorya at opinyon, ninanakaw na ba niya sa amin ang aming karapatan bilang mamamahayag at kailangan din ba naming kalabanin ang mga taong itinuturing niyang kaaway?

Wala namang ginagawang masama sa amin ang mag-amang Daddy Jun at Jolina, kaya ano’ng karapatan niyang panghimasukan ang aming panulat, napakasarap ngang sulatin ng mag-ama dahil pitik o papuri man ang isulat mo sa kanila ay marunong silang magpahalaga.

Kung sa kanyang opinyon ay hindi makatatayo nang mag-isa si Piolo nang wala si Juday ay personal niyang opinyon ’yun, nirerespeto namin ‘yun, pero kailangan din niyang respetuhin ang aming opinyon na kaya nang pakawalan nang solo si Piolo dahil saksi kami sa mga pangyayaring makapagpapatotoo sa aming katwiran.

Saka meron bang binuong demolition job para wasakin ang tambalang Piolo-Juday? Kailan pa nangyari ’yun?

Hindi nakikita ni Alfie ang mga tulong na nagagawa ng Tuesday Club sa kanyang alaga, pero minsang sumulat na pagtatambalan ng ABS-CBN sina Piolo at Claudine Barretto, ay minarkahan niya na agad?

Napakalinaw na kaso ito ng nakita ang butas ng karayom, pero ang butas ng palakol na pagkalaki-laki, ay hindi binigyan ng halaga.

Ni hindi ka na nga pinasasalamatan ay bibirahin ka pa, kaya kung minsan ay nakatatakot nang tumulong, dahil nakatulong ka na nga ay masama ka pa sa bandang huli.

Maraming ginulat ang aktor nang makita siyang may suot-suot ng headphone at hawak ang script na pinag-aaralan niya. Di naglaon ay binigyan nito ng instruksyon sina Caridad Sanchez at Lito Pimentel kung ano ang gagawin nila sa naturang eksena.

Ayon sa isang source, matagal nang frustration ni Piolo ang magdirek ng isang palabas kaya lang hindi nito magagawa sa ngayon dahil mas prayoridad nito ang sumikat bilang aktor.

Gusto ng aktor na magkaroon ng oras na libre siyang makapag-aral ng filmmaking o directing sa UP. Kaya lang sa ngayon ay malayo pang mabibigyang katuparan ang kanyang hilig dahil kaliwa’t kanan ang mga showbiz commitment niya. ‘Kilig’ movie for everyone

Maybe it’s unavoidable that at first, because of the trailer and the synopsis given in the wide publicity, potential moviegoers got the impression that the new movie by Maryo J. delos Reyes, I Think I’m in Love, was a blatant copycat of the recent Hollywood fare starring Josh Hartnett, 40 Days and 40 Nights. But this is a misconception. The similarity begins and ends with the idea that the romantic hero is a womanizer who is driven to celibacy, or at least to platonic friendship with a sexy, gorgeous woman. In the foreign movie, the entire movie hinges on this will-he-or-will-he-not? comic suspense.

But the local movie is concerned with other stuff – the two principal characters’ relationships with other people, and their kindling passion for each other. Having seen both pictures one after the other, this writer had several moments of good laughter with 40 Days, but the pleasure one gets from I Think I’m In Love is fuller and deeper, and in gaining such pleasure, one completely forgets 40 Days. The first is simply clever, while the latter is both funny and touching (cry babies are advised to bring hankies to wipe those tears of joy).

The characters in Maryo J.’s movie are people so easy to fall in love with, not just the two leads but the minor ones as well, and the actors who play them are all supremely likeable. A character who becomes nasty or makes life hard for the hero or heroine is quickly put in his or her place (in soap operas, the situation is stretched to eternity).

Piolo Pascual, currently the premier heartthrob in Philippine movies, plays the Prince Charming with a giant libido but also... an equally big heart. The well-heeled Lothario has a penchant for gifting his girlfriends with expensive perfume; but he has a better side: he makes periodic visits to a geriatric institution to cheer up the residents. He is also kind enough to fulfill his promise to an elderly woman to take her family out for a day at the beach.

But Piolo is such a fine actor he comes off not as saintly, cloying, or wooden. Maybe it’s because the writer (Jun Lana) and director – and the actor – adds a "neutralizing" element: his suppressed but ever-rising romantic passion for his seductive friend. Piolo attacks his dilemma with equal parts charms, intensity, and vulnerability. It would relieve moviegoers however had the writer and director made more effort to show why Piolo, intelligent as he is, is unable to decide if his feelings for Joyce is unadulterated love or pure lust. Why, for crying out loud, does he not answer Joyce’s text messages?

Joyce Jimenez, finally seen in a movie that doesn’t exploit her sexy image crassly, plays a working girl who dutifully accompanies her lola to the old folks’ home to visit the old woman’s boyfriend. With this and her recent movie outings, Joyce has effectively proven that she could also be a "Sweetheart ng Bayan" as much as Pantasya ng Bayan (without the latter’s limiting For-Adults-Only dimension). Well, okay, in a bikini, it’s hard not to admire Joyce‘s gorgeous body. Younger viewers however may relate to her as a sister to root for.

Some girls may be envious or resentful, and they are represented by Joyce’s fellow salesladies at the department store’s perfume section, who are like three wicked stepsisters in a fairy tale. They eye her like Cinderella, but this Cinderella hits back. The other "villainess," for her part, Piolo’s girlfriend – played by the wonderful Nancy Castiglione – is such a delightful presence she lights up every moment she’s in. And how about those boys who badmouth Joyce and her family? She gives them a piece of her mind, short of punching them (she won’t cheapen herself by getting physical, she confides later to a friend).

The other characters who orbit around the couple are believable as they are familiar, from Piolo’s brother (Lorenzo Mara), to the boy and girl next door to Joyce’s (Jam Melendez, Aiko’s younger brother and Roselle Nava). More atypical is Joyce’s grandma, played with aplomb and gusto by Gloria Romero who ignites the screen with her own star power, as a free-spirited widow who is loving, independent and full of life. Why, the elderly star is even seen joining a physically-demanding sack race! A small grace note is her reunion with ’50s leading man Luis Gonzales as the man she visits at the institution.

Usually, the so-called "kilig" movie caters to adolescent and late teen audiences. This escapist fare – now also known as a Feel-Good Movie – will please a larger group: the young adults and professionals, and even, with the subplot involving Gloria and Luis, the older folk. You’ll think you’re in love – no, you’ll FALL in love when you watch this crowd-pleaser.

Speaking of Piolo, aalis ito kasama ang fellow Hunks na sina Jericho Rosales, Diether Ocampo, Carlos Agassi at Bernard Palanca para sa series of shows sa Japan ngayong weekend. Matagal nang inaabangan ang Hunks sa Japan at finally nga ay naayos na rin ang kanilang schedule. Kasama sa show si Michelle Bayle.

Tinapos na ni Piolo ang pelikulang Dekada ’70 with Vilma Santos. Nakatakda kasi itong ipalabas sa December at ipi-field ng Star Cinema sa Metro Manila Film Festival. Bago matapos ang taon, ipapalabas naman ang Nine Mornings with Donita Rose.:D ;)

Sa palagay ko si Alfie Lorenzo ang makakasira kay Judy Ann. Hinde siya nag-iisip bago magbitaw ng salita sa column niya. At mayabang siya. Natatandaan ko noon, sinulat niya sa column niya na movie ni Judy Ann Santos ang "Nasaan Ang Puso" na kung kung kasama niya si Maricel Soriano sa Manila Film Festival at hinde daw iyon pelikula ni Maricel. Pero sa mga past interviews, sabi niya, just last year nalaman niya ito and to prove na talagang kanya ito ay nag-pa DNA test pa siya. This Inigo apparently he was introducing to his circle of friends as his pamangkin. Kaya niya ni-reveal ito because of the threat of his former manager, so inunahan niya ito. How is it that everyone na pala sa showbiz circle knew about this Inigo boy, and the only people na walang alam dito ay ang mga fans... Kung umamin na rin siya, why not say the truth na lang. Bakit binibilog pa niya ang kanyang mga fans.

At that same article also, he admittedly said that he still love the mother of his child. Pero this is also very different from his past interviews that wala na siyang feeling dito. The only thing that bond them together is the son.

I agree with you completely! All actors & actresses should feel confident enough to admit whether or not one is married, or one has a child, or is that and that.

However, from my observations, I believe that the problem why many actors and actresses in the Philippines can't seem to come clean regarding their true status in life is because of the mind set of the many fans. Gusto man aminin ng mga artista, hindi nila magawa dahil alam nila na hindi makakabuti sa career nila or there will be a negative effect. Hindi ko nilalahat, pero ang karamihan nang mga fans sa PINAS, hindi pa rin nari-reach ang level of maturity to differentiate between REEL to REAL life. Lalo pa't identified ang isang actor or actress sa isang LOVETEAM. Di ba nga, to SELL the team up, a romantic angle is always formulated para lang kumita ang pelikula? Why? Kasi this is what some of the fans want and dream of. Through the seemingly perfect "LOVE" between the team up, our lives become more interesting and our fantasies are lived vicariously through the LOVE TEAM. Once that "fantasy" is shattered by reality, some fans won't or can't grasp the truth. Pero para sa akin, basta magaling na artista, I could care less if he/she were married, had kids, had a sex change, is gay or is a lesbian. :D

I can understand why PIOLO and the other actors/actresses felt and feel compelled to lead double lives. Pero buti na rin umamin na siya, whether by force or by threat. Kasi ganon pa man, sa huli, yung talent pa rin ni PIOLO ang hindi pwedeng ibalewala nang mga tunay na fans nya. :D

Would you know when NINE MORNINGS, yung film niya with Donita Rose, would be shown? I read sa website ni donita that Piolo is indeed great in the movie...the story line kasi is set during the Simbang Gabi...quite interesting kasi Jose Javier Reyes ang direktor...

I read, yung torture scene niya sa Dekada '70 has not been shot yet...when you read the book, he is playing the role of Jules, ito yung NPA son, maaawa kayo sa character niya...siya kasi ang nagmulat sa mommy niya about the real world outside their house...its a great novel...and since Chito Rono, mukhang magaling talaga...

Here are some more observations...since Kandy touched on the LOVETEAM issue...more often than not, the one who suffers the most is the GUY...at first, sikat pareho yan...but later on when they try separately, history has proven that the guy is left behind, ito yung lumulubog...what has happened to the movie careers of the following: Luis Gonzales, Nestor de Villa, Romeo Vazquez, Eddie Gutierrez, Tirso Cruz III, Bobot Mortiz, William Martinez, Gabby Concepcion, Wowie de Guzman, There wa a time, Rico Yan was down di ba? Why? that remains a mystery up to now.

On the case of Piolo, he came back with no competition...sinalpak kaagad sa SA Sandaling kailangan mo ako, nagkatatak sa televiewers ang impact na ginawa niya...sumisikat na at bang, nung may nasagasaan na dahil nga sumisikat, iniintriga na...kesyo bading etc....pero the funniest part is, patuloy nilang sinisiraan pero walang epek...tuloy tuloy pa rin...ke totoo o hindi, we cannot deny the fact that he has the greatest impact among his contemporaries...

Which leads to the question why he had to deny at first that he has a son...well that is showbiz, Filipino style. kumbaga, teka, pasikatin niyo muna ako...kapag sikat na, then aamin ako...timing ba...hindi lang naman si Piolo ang ganiyan marami sila...ang tanong lang naman ay matatanggap ba? It seems from the response of the fans, mukhang tanggap naman, they are mature enough to say...ok lang...what's the big deal? Even yung chismis if he is gay or not, parang hindi na rin kinakagat...what's new di ba? The bottomline is, will he emerge the winner with his talents or a loser because he has nothing to share.

May plano sa career niya di ba...There is confidence that without Juday, he can survive naman...which shoould be the case, kailangan he should not be identified so much with anybody kasi siya rin ang mahihirapan in the end...and I think ito ang nakikita ng STAR CINEMA...and ito ang hindi naman matanggap ni Alfie that he needs to work even without Juday with flying colors...and he did, kumita ng malaki ang I think Im in Love...so he can cut the curse, like Boyet, Aga and richard, that the guy will be left behind. Ano ang common sa tatlong nabanggit ko...Boyet , Aga and Richard....one...hindi sila original loveteam...Nora-tirso, bago si boyet, Janice-Gabby, bago si Aga, and Snooky-Albert, bago si Richard...two...they are all great actors...three... nachismis na bakla o kabit ng bakla...and the pattern continues with Piolo

Which leads to the question why he had to deny at first that he has a son...well that is showbiz, Filipino style. kumbaga, teka, pasikatin niyo muna ako...kapag sikat na, then aamin ako...timing ba...hindi lang naman si Piolo ang ganiyan marami sila...ang tanong lang naman ay matatanggap ba? It seems from the response of the fans, mukhang tanggap naman, they are mature enough to say...ok lang...what's the big deal? Even yung chismis if he is gay or not, parang hindi na rin kinakagat...what's new di ba? The bottomline is, will he emerge the winner with his talents or a loser because he has nothing to share.

May plano sa career niya di ba...There is confidence that without Juday, he can survive naman...which shoould be the case, kailangan he should not be identified so much with anybody kasi siya rin ang mahihirapan in the end...and I think ito ang nakikita ng STAR CINEMA...and ito ang hindi naman matanggap ni Alfie that he needs to work even without Juday with flying colors...and he did, kumita ng malaki ang I think Im in Love...so he can cut the curse, like Boyet, Aga and richard, that the guy will be left behind. Ano ang common sa tatlong nabanggit ko...Boyet , Aga and Richard....one...hindi sila original loveteam...Nora-tirso, bago si boyet, Janice-Gabby, bago si Aga, and Snooky-Albert, bago si Richard...two...they are all great actors...three... nachismis na bakla o kabit ng bakla...and the pattern continues with Piolo

ROMANTIC FILMS have become so common we’re now quite tired of it. After “Ikaw Lamang Hanggang Ngayon”, “Bakit Di Totohanin”, “Mahal Kita Final Answer”, “Got 2 Believe”, “Akala Mo”, etc., here comes another one in “I Think I’m In Love” which banks mainly on Piolo Pascual’s heartthrob status.


Since it targets a general patronage rating, all the sexy scenes Piolo shot with Joyce Jimenez where deleted from the film. As such, Joyce’s fans, who expect to see her disrobe in each of her movies, will be disappointed.


Piolo is Jonas, a rich playboy who regularly buys perfume for his various girlfriends from Kaye (Joyce), a department store salesgirl. When his two steadies, Patty (Michelle Bayle) and Fiona (Nancy Castiliogne), discover that he is twotiming them, they junk him and start a smear campaign against him. His elder brother (Lorenzo Mara) dares Jonas to strike a friendship with a girl for three months, without any sex involved. If Jonas would lose, he’d give his expensive Porsche car to his Kuya. Jonas agrees and decides to befriend Kaye. We guess it would be easy for you to guess what happens from here.


Movies that center on a bet are really very familiar as we’ve seen them several times before, just like in the recent “40 Days and 40 Nights”. In fairness to Screenwriter Jun Lana and Director Maryo de los Reyes, they do manage to make the narrative in “I Think I’m in Love” quite believable, even if there is zilch chemistry between Piolo and Joyce. Just like other makers of romantic films, they concoct scenes that viewers will find cute and endearing, just like the overly contrived finale here where Piolo thinks it’s Joyce who’s getting married in church. He disrupts the wedding and even delivers a long speech in front of all the guests asking for Kaye’s forgiveness. The wonder of it all is why the priest allowed him to do it. In fairness to Piolo, he manages to pull off that silly scene quite convincingly. The film does confirm that he is indeed leading man material, but he still would need a suitable leading lady to make his films a box office draw.


Here, we’re afraid that Joyce is not at all credible as the lowly salesgirl who is branded as “jologs”, particularly when she parades in a series of swimsuits in their beach scene. Gloria Romero as her kooky Lola Amor (who has her own love story) and Roselle Nava as her best friend, Marya, often steal the limelight from her. Nancy Castiliogne, whose claim to fame is that she is the girlfriend of Vilma Santos’ son, makes an unimpressive film debut as Fiona, what with her irritating Betty Boopish voice. But technical values are definitely above average, particularly the production design and Archie Castillo’s peppy musical score.

Agree ako dito...my analysis is had this film been shown outside of the filmfest, mas malaki ang kikitain nito...but since it was shown during the festival , 6 films ang maghahati hati sa crowd...but in fairness and in all honesty, the film made money and indeed a crowd drawer...my friends in Manila were telling me that they watched this on a Friday, mahaba ang pila. And the film really is PIOLO's, hindi mo nga raw mapapansin si JOYCE...

Dekada'70 is a good supporting role for Piolo...did you know that it was frist offered to Jericho, and since busy si Jericho sa SOAP niya, napunta kay Piolo...I read the book and the role of PIolo is JULES, anak na panganay na naging NPA rebel...it is the most challenging support cahracter sa Novel, siya yung naging mitsa sa pagbabago ni Amanda Bustamante...

I've heard a lot about NINE MORNINGS and excited na rin akong mapanood ito, or atleast marinig how the movie will fare with the fans and movie-goers alike. Do you know by the way where I can find out more info about that flick? I'm really interested in knowing more about the plot and the concept.

Yes, I was aware that Echo was first offered the supporting role in Dekada. I remember watching an interview of Piolo's and he readily admitted naman that the role was suppose to be Jericho's. I just wonder if PIOLO feels any pressure...he he he:D

Coincidentally, Regine and Claudine were also my picks for PIOLO's leading ladies. A team up w/ Dawn Zulueta would be an excellent project........even one w/ Sharon Cuneta. Hopefully mag-materialize yan.:)

What I know is Nine Mornings is all about a romance that started during the first day of SIMBANG GABI , kaya nga 9 Mornings...so the showing of the film is still a problem maybe as to the exact date...kasi STar Cinema is fielding Dekada '70 to the Metro Philippines Film Festival this December...and the storyline of Nine Mornings is kind of Christmasy...siguro they should show this by September or at most November, para pre-Christmas presentation...I hope it clicks, which I think naman Star cinema will support this with all out support...they will bank on three things maybe...Piolo and Donita(perfect combination), and the director, Jose Javier Reyes (when interviewed before, he called Piolo "anak")...and I am praying it really clicks for Piolo's sake na rin, naawa ako sa kaniya each time I read Alfie's column eh, parang poetic justice na rin, if ever...

We should pray that Piolo holds himself for Dekada'70...the role of Jules, if completely followed from the Novel, is the most coveted part among the children...he started as a quiet individual but upon entering the university, his life changed completely...he gave a piece of his life to his mom, Amanda Bustamante, which served as the turning point of Amanda's world...Amanda kasi is blinded by her husband's belief that this is a MAN's WORLD...Jules' character is in conflict with his dad, JULIAN, SR....and his dad always reiterates that I gave you my name because I believed you should be following what I believed in...and Jules' becomes an NPA...medyo tragic ang role if you read the novel...

other screen partners...Well, why not consider a very mature role for him...like pairing him with Vilma Santos....i know there are materials for that...or if any company would want to revive Nora Aunor's career, ipartner din, not necessarily a love story, yung talagang, serious film, hindi na yung pa-cute (which I understand kasi this is what the market wants and ito ang stepping stone niya)...another film with Maricel...Sharon could be a good choice too...basta, kahit ano gusto ko lang medyo ma hiwalay na siya ng konti kay Juday (but with all due respect, she is one of the reasons for Piolo's seeming popularity)

He is not yet a citizen, permanent resident pa lang siya.

I read it too so many times that Piolo is not really keen on pursuing a long career sa showbiz. He promised his mom yata na to give him 5 years (this was in 1998 when he made a commitment sa mom niya) to be in showbiz. I am not clear lang if that 5 years eh kung hindi siya sisikat...but I hope he changes his mind...sayang naman kasi he is a superstar in his own right...but if he wishes to go back to the US, I think that is God's will.

I was able to get hold of I think Im In love dito sa amin (SF area) ...i had to wait for an hour kung may magbabalik...they had 10 copies lahat naka-out...there was also Magkapatid, all tapes were out also. Sabi nung storeclerk, hintay ka muna may magbabalik ...so I waited.

The funny thing was this, when the lady returned 2 tapes, it was I think and The buzz show...grabe, kinikilg pa habang sinosoli yung tape, and she said...mas maganda to kaysa yung AKALA MO ni Juday Ann...3 times nga namin inulit...lalo tuloy akong na excite manood.

And truly, the film is KILIG for all...great musical scoring, very perky...infact yung editing isfast paced, no dull moment...Nancy was hilarious but the voice nga sometimes is unbearable but she was hilarious in most of her scenes. Joyce did not use her voice but still looked ok. Ang ganda ng ending tawa kami ng taw talaga. Piolo is indeed a LEADING MAN material...he was good and was convincing sa ending...

No wonder galit na galit si ALFIE LORENZO sa statement ni CRISTY FERMIN na kaya nang magsolo ni PIOLO...kumita na maganda pa ang project...

After co-starring with Mark Anthony Fernandez in Regal Films’ futuristic film “Hesus Rebolusyonaryo,” popular VJ, actress and top commercial model Donita Rose now pairs with hearththrob Piolo Pascual in Star Cinema’s new movie “Nine Mornings,” directed by Joey Javier Reyes.

“Nine Mornings” is the first time that Donita and Piolo are working together in a film, although they both used to be members of the now defunct popular “discovery” program on GMA-7, “That’s Entertainment.” Both belonged to the Friday Group.

In “Nine Mornings,” Donita plays the role of a teacher who gives Piolo’s otherwise easy and meaningless life new meaning. The title of the movie (originally “simbang Gabi”) “Nine Mornings” which is based on a script by Antonio Sison (a winner in the annual scriptwriting contest of the Film Development Foundation of the Philippines, traces the romance between two individuals who have different interests and dreams, which started on the first day of “simbang gabi” and ended on the ninth day.

When “Nine Mornings” had its first shooting day at the Glorietta in Makati, Star Cinema’s managing director Malou Santos was around to give the director and the cast morale support. The movie, aside from other engagements, is the reason why Donita has to fly here every weekend from Singapore where she has been based for the past three years now.

An extremely busy schedule has left Donita [Rose] with little time for a love life. Her schedule is so tight that she worked on her birthday (Dec. 5). Tentatively called "Nine Mornings," it will be directed by Jose Javier Reyes.

"Nine Mornings" is about a young man (Piolo) who will receive his inheritance if he attends all the nine early morning masses (simbang gabi) before Christmas. Donita is his love interest. She is also due to shoot a new television commercial for Pepsi.

I am not excited about this movie huh.. but then i am not PP/JAS fans.

they will not shoot this monday, if you want to know. may be the end of the month, like around the 29th.. if juday's and piolo's schedules permit.. not that you care about her sched noh, pero she is shooting the movie with Robin right now, so hindi po atat si juday makasama si Piolo, kung puwede lang sana ituloy na lang ang movie ni Claudine at Piolo.

If ever I wrote that the shooting might start on Monday July 22, i got the message from the MB of JUDAY-PIOLO, so I am just quoting their messages...I read from Juday's manager's column that the ROBIN-JUDAY film has not started shooting yet so where did you get that information?

And Piolo atat na atat sa movie nila ni Juday...well, bilang pasasalamat na rin ...pero bakit naman atat? trabaho rin yon chong! Yung last movie ni Piolo with Joyce, sa awa ng Diyos, kumita , hindi nga lang nag number one sa festival, but still PIOLO SURVIVED without Juday and the film is MAGANDA...can you say the same with JUDAY? kumita ba ang films niya this year with Jinggoy, Luis Alandy and Dingdong? do not count MAGKAPATID kasi si MEGA ang nagdala ng film and kahit si Claudine ang nandoon kikita yon.

So you need not worry kase ako rin nagdadasal na wag naman na sanang ituloy nang ABS ang planong to. Marami nang nang-iintriga at nanglalait kay judy Ann sa pag-team up nya kay Piolo without them knowing na nagtatrabaho lang naman sila pareho. I have nothing against Piolo and he too is a good actor. And teaming up with Echo would mean much much more lait na naman yan from other fans nila ni Kristine (whom I believe eh established na rin yung loveteam nila). Wala pa nga lang andami nang panlalait kay Judy Ann eh kung ituloy pa kaya eh di lalo na di ba? In as much as ayaw nyong may nasasabing masama sa mga idols nyo ako rin naman ganun pero sabi nga you can't please everybody! May kanya kanya tayong preferences, kung sa tingin mo panget ang preference ko or nung ibang tao may mga tao rin namang mutual ang feelings towards you.

So hindi maiiwasang minsan may maririnig tayong hindi maganda tungkol kay Piolo or Judy Ann. Sometimes we deal the criticism and at times din we're at the receiving end. That's just the way life goes! All we can hope for is the best!!

Piolo's hard work is already paying off. And I have no doubt that with the talent he possesses, he'll go places!! I continue to hope that he breaks free of any team up para naman he can take advantage of all the opportunities available to him.:D

my only disappointment sa mga fans are that they are forgetting that their idols are only doing what they were asked to do, and these artists are, in real life, normal people capable of being hurt. Siguro naman we should be more sensitive. Kawawa rin naman sila. Trabajo lang talaga pero pati personal lives nila ay nadadawit, and being forced on who and not to be with.

I also believed that that these artists are just too old for a love team. They have proven their strength in acting. Kahit saan and kahit sino ang ipartner, alam kong they will suceed if allowed to mapa Echo, Claudine or even Kristine. Remember these tandems started and we have no idea that there will be chemistry, but since they are good artists, they've portrayed their roles effectively.

Piolo goes back to Juday

Actor Piolo Pascual on Monday said he is reuniting with screen sweetheart Judy Ann Santos through a romantic movie under Star Cinema.

"[The movie is tentatively titled] The Gift, Joyce Bernal is directing it," Pascual said in an interview with TV Patrol.

Pascual who was recently paired off with other actresses said he loves working with Santos.

"Juday will always be a special part of me," he said.

Their Bakit Di Na Lang Totohanin was a blockbuster.



A product endorser and also a budding singer, Pascual said he is open to doing more wholesome projects.

"I am serious at having a clean image. It's rare to be given these opportunities," he said.

Third presscon na kasi ito ng Pakisabi Na Lang… Mahal Ko Siya (sino, si Piolo o si Fermina?). Nauna na ‘yung magkasama sina Juday at Cogie Domingo nu’ng nasa bakasyon pa sa Amerika si KC Montero. Ikalawang presscon naman na solo ni Juday ‘yung ginanap sa coffee shop ng Regal sa Valencia. At ikatlong presscon na ‘yung ginanap nu’ng Lunes para kay Juday at KC Montero with the movie’s director, Boots Plata. PIOLO PASCUAL is the newest image model of Max’s Restaurant. He will star in the newest ad campaign for the restaurant. The qualities of a role model such as wholesome, family-oriented, enjoyable, and able to win the hearts of every Filipino were made as basis. Piolo Pascual came to mind and fit perfectly.

This young, hunk and heartthrob, is one of the brightest stars seen onscreen today. He starred in box-office films and was noted for being humbly un affected by sheer stardom. “The Max Masarap ad campaign highlights the talented role model’s delight in the Max Fried Chicken, while having a pleasurable time inside the restaurant with a friend. A satisfied and all-smiling Piolo Pascual is seen relishing every bite.

A simple man. Yet accomplished in numerous aspects in life, Piolo personifies the remarkable and uniquely “Pinoy,” Max’s Restaurant.

The actor said he’s very happy to have been chosen by the people behind Max to be the restaurant’s image model. He said he was only five years old when he first had the experience of dining in a Max’s outlet. He was the coin bearer in a wedding then and the reception was held in a Max’s restaurant. Piolo and his sister even shared on a piece of chicken which they savored with gusto.

Nice seeing your post again...Ito usapang matino, I may not be a fan of Juday for Piolo pero they are making a BIG BANG on their reunion film...grabe ang announcements and they are on TV most of the time...well admit it or not...NUMBER ONE talaga ang loveteam nila...third na to yet iba ang drumbeaters ng STar Cinema...and the Filipinos here in my workplace are really talking about their interview sa HEADLINES...


I will give more articles on Piolo (pag bored ako sa work ko, internet ako hehehehehe). I havent' caught the MAX"s commercial sa ANC, sabi nila pinapakita daw don...the ANC is the ABS cbn news channel and part of the TFC subscription...

Usapang matino din, I'm not fond of the tandem (as you well know), however, I admire PIOLO big time and I'm happy that he continues to have projects left, right and centre. So if it means doing a movie with Judy thereby pleasing their LOAD of followers then so be it.

I just hope their next flick isn't as terrible as Bakit 'Di Totohanin....(not that it'll matter to their die-hard tandem fans), but there's still something to be said for movies that make sense and alam mong pinagisipang mabuti....eg. Regine's and Aga's films. Even Got To Believe was a great movie to watch and I'm not even a Claudine/Rico fan.

Basta, I'm happy for PIOLO.:D

I think naman pinagiisipan nila itong muli...the director is Joyce Bernal, so expect some light romance thing...

I heard Joyce being interviewed that Piolo's role is that of a LAWYER and Juday is some sort of gimikera...Joyce describes the "fairy tale kind of" meeting that will take place between the two characters...

You are right, Bakit di totohanin was terrible...I did not watch the whole film...it was the highest grossing film last year though...

wow!!! i would like to congratulate the thread starter bwisit for making this thread... dami rin palang fan si piolo dito sa PEX... well, ako fan ako ni piolo coz he's so pogi, malinis sa katawan and so decent!!! kaya lagi ko siyang inaabangan sa ASAP eh!!! but ang talagang ultimate hunk ko eh si diet... well kasama rin si echo... sila baleng tatlo ang top three ko... but what i admire about piolo is marunong siyang umarte... lalo na yung mga mata niya... expressive!!! so keep on posting guys... lalong lalo na yung mga pics na pinopost ni bwisit!!!

sa "sa sandaling kailangan mo ako" pa lang, pinagnasahan ko na yang si piolo...

Hi kandyKane and Bwisit...Did you hear that the new working title of the reunion movie is PICTURE MOM...it is quite interesting...Piolo has a baby (dont know if boy or girl) and inside the crib or as the baby grows up, there is a picture of a woman, who exactly looks like Juday, that the baby imagines or believes as his mom...parang ganon...so the by the time they would be meeting, medyo may isip na ang bata and yun ... quite interesting ? I think so...

nagbigay na pahapyaw na kwento si al sa movie nina jas at pp sa star cinema na ang dating title ay “the gift” kaso pinalitan at ang working title na nito ay “picture mom” , sabi ni al o di ba hango sa tunay na buhay! tanong naman ni kuya mar “true-to-life ba ito? sagot ni al kc ang kwento may anak si piolo dito pero di si jas ang ina eh di ba may anak na 5 years old boy si piolo pero dito six years old ang bata at babae ito at anak ni snooky serna ang gaganap. isang gimekera si jas at isang lawyer naman daw si piolo. iniwan kay piolo ang bata ng naanakan nyang babae at sa pagluwas ay nakasakay sila sa tren or bus daw at magkatabi sila ni jas habang si jas malayo ang iniisip at may problema. katabi nya ang mag-ama at panay ang iyak ang bata ng hawakan ni jas ang kamay ng bata tumigil ito sa pag-iyak ng bumaba na si jas naiwan ang kanyang pocketbook yata yun na may picture nya at ang bata patuloy pa rin sa pag-iyak. napansin ni pp yung pagtahan ng anak ng hawakan sya ni jas kaya ipinahawak nya yung picture ni jas at sinabing “yan ang mommy mo” nakalakihan ng bata na si jas ang kinikilala nyang ina sa pamaamagitan ng pictures at ng six years old na ang bata magtatagpo sina jas, pp at ang bata. dun daw iikot ang story. ( ang daming revisions ng script noh! pero maganda at kilig din ang kwento pwede rin yung unang version na voice tape naman).
